How Eco PCO D-X Dust Works

Eco PCO D-X Dust is a ready-to-use, all-natural, organic insecticide dust with the botanical active ingredients Phenethyl Propionate and Pyrethrins. Phenethyl Propionate is a derivate of peanut oil (it does not contain the enzyme that triggers peanut allergies). It acts as an octopamine blocker for target pests, disrupting the neurotransmitter function in target insects and causing a breakdown in the insects’ central nervous system. Pyrethrins are derived from the chrysanthemum flower and also attack insects’ central nervous system. Eco PCO D-X Dust is a fine powder that insect pests easily pick up on the tiny hairs on their bodies and legs, and the active ingredients kill either by ingestion or contact. Eco PCO D-X dust will remain stable for up to 8 months or longer in voids not exposed to elements such as wind, air flow, extreme moisture, or sunlight.

Eco PCO D-X Dust Target Pests

Ants, bed bugs, carpet beetles, centipedes, roaches, spiders, stinging insects, and other common household pests.

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ECO PCO D-X DUST:

Ants, bedbugs, carpet beetles, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, darkling beetles, earwigs, hide beetles, firebrats/silverfish, fleas, millipedes, sowbugs/pillbugs, spiders, scorpions, and other indoor/outdoor insect pests; wasps, yellow jackets and other stinging insects.

Target Uses of Eco PCO D-X Dust

Eco PCO D-X Dust can be used almost anywhere in or around a structure when a dust application is appropriate, especially when natural products are desired. Use Eco PCO D-X Dust as a crack and crevice treatment for most household pests, as part of bed bug treatment, for broadcast treatment in crawl spaces or voids, or to treat stinging insects such as wasps and yellow jackets. Eco PCO D-X Dust is also designed to be water resistant, so it can be used outside around windows, doors, and eaves for overwintering pests such as stink bugs. It can also be applied as an outdoor perimeter treatment.

Eco PCO D-X Dust also is labeled for use as a crack and crevice treatment in Food Handling Establishments.

Application Instructions

Shake well before using. Apply uniformly in and around areas where insects may be crawling, hiding, or living. The amount to be applied will vary depending on the severity of the problem and the site treated, but should be in the range of 1 to 2 ounces per 100 square feet of surface area. Applications should include, but are not limited to, cracks/crevices and void areas around and behind interior and exterior walls, cabinets, baseboards, moldings, pipe openings, electrical outlets, stairs, window and doorframes and appliances. Repeat as necessary. Always read the product label completely before use.

Eco PCO D-X Dust is most easily applied with a dust applicator such as a bellows hand duster.

Yield will vary depending on application. A 10 ounce bottle should cover 500-1,000 square feet of total surface area for crack and crevice treatment, or approximately 800 square feet for broadcast application.

Standard Application Rates:

  • 1 to 2 ounces per 100 sq. ft. of surface area – crack and crevice, void treatmets
  • 12 to 16 ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. of surface area – broadcast treatments in attics, crawl spaces, etc.

Eco PCO D-X Dust is for use in the following areas:

In and around Homes, Offices, Hotels, Motels, Schools, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Day-care Centers, Factories, Warehouses, Stores, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Food Handling Establishments, Commercial or Institutional Kitchens, Food Processing Plants, Zoos and Transportation Equipment (Aircraft (do not use in aircraft cabins), Buses, Trucks, Trailers, Boats, Ships, and Trains).

Indoors

Apply as a crack and crevice or void treatment in areas where insects may be crawling, hiding, or living at a rate of 1 to 2 ounces per 100 square feet of surface area. Though crack and crevice applications may be made as needed, for general maintenance it is appropriate to apply once every 6 months.

Broadcast Treatments: In attics, crawl spaces, false ceilings, etc., apply at a rate of 12 to 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet of surface area, depending on the severity of the problem. Repeat as necessary.

Bedbugs: Apply thoroughly to all areas where these pests are typically found including: folds, tufts and edges of mattresses, coils of springs, and cracks and hollow posts of bedsteads. Picture frame moldings and all cracks and crevices in the room should be treated. Do not make broadcast applications for bed bugs. Not recommended as the sole protection from bed bugs.

Food Handling Establishments: Applications of this product in the food areas of food handling establishments is limited to void or crack and crevice treatment. The amount to be applied will vary depending on the severity of the problem and the site treated, but should be in the range of 1 to 2 ounces per 100 square feet of surface area. Use equipment capable of applying dust directly into voids, cracks and crevices between different elements of construction, between equipment and floors, openings leading to voids and hollow spaces in walls, equipment legs and bases where insects hide. Repeat as necessary.

Outdoors

Stinging Insects: It is advisable to treat wasp and yellow jacket nests in the evening when insects are less active and have returned to the nest. Wear protective clothing if necessary to avoid stings. Use a hand or power duster with extension tubes if necessary. Thoroughly dust nest, entrance and surrounding areas. For best results, check nests one or two days after treatment to ensure complete kill. Remove and destroy nest to prevent emergence of newly hatched insects. If removal is not possible, retreat the nest if necessary. For nests in wall voids, drill a hole in the area of the nest, apply dust, and reseal.

Outdoor Perimeter Treatments: Apply thoroughly around windows and doors, porches, screens, eaves, patios, garages, under stairways, and in crawl spaces and other areas where pests hide. To help prevent pest problems, apply thoroughly and uniformly to a band of soil and vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the building/structure. Treat the building foundation and crawl spaces where pests may find entrance.

    Pco PCO D-X Dust

    By Doug on 06/25/2011

This botanical dust is great to work with. You don't have to worry about breathing harmful pesticide dust into your lungs, the insects can't develop a resistance to this all natural product, and finally, it works great on killing the insects. Glad to have this product in my pest control arsenal.

    Seems good..

    By Robert on 05/04/2010

    Verified Purchase

I have more experience using Drione. But this product doesn't break the bank and seems to work fine. I dusted under the bottom channel of my siding and also up under the corner channels. I had spiders and wasps come out quickly. That tells me it works. So far, no issues, planning to use this product again.

    Excellent product!

    By Klr on 04/09/2013

We had an infestation of carpet beetles and this product really works! I was able to dust the inside of a wall where we were having them come out of a socket. They stopped almost immediately, I also found some dead ones near their exit point. I would recommend this product for carpet beetles.

    Works like a champ!!

    By B on 04/23/2012

THIS STUFF KICKED THE CRUD OUT OF OUR BEDBUG PROBLEM. Easy to apply with the duster I purchased. The duster makes it easy to apply with little waste so I didn't need the 2 bottles I bought. Barely used a third of 1. Can be used on other pests so I am getting my use of the other bottle. Works quickly and lasts. Happy with the results.

Q
Which one of your anti dust products is equivalent to the Ortho Ant-stop Ant Killer Dust?

I've used the Ortho for years and it works. I'm out. What product do you have that has the same active ingredient, chlorpyrifos?

A
The active ingredient chlorpyrifos was banned for home use and is severely restricted in agricultural uses by the EPA in 2001 because of health concerns. We do have current dust insecticides such as Delta Dust, Tempo Dust and Drione Dust and each product is labeled for use in the home for ant control.

Q
Does Eco PCO D-X Dust kill and deter stink bugs?
A
Eco PCO D-X Dust will kill stink bugs but should not be used to repel them. It should also be noted, Eco PCO D-X Dust as well as all other dust insecticides do not kill immediately. The dust will take several days to actually kill the insect. We do have an "Overwintering Pest Kit" that comes with everything you need to stop stink bugs from making their way indoors. It is important to spray outdoors every month through the season to stop the bulk of the stink bugs from making their way in.

Q
Can Eco PCO D-X Dust be used on plants such as ornamentals ?
A
Eco PCO D-X Dust is labeled to be used on vegetation as long as it is within 10 feet of the perimeter of your home but it is not labeled for use out in the yard. PyGanic Dust with 1% Pyrethrin is a botanical insecticide dust that treats a broad range of insects and is labeled for use on ornamental plants specifically. Please take a few minutes to review page 4 of Pyganic dust product label to be sure it will fit your needs. Pyganic dust has now been replaced with the Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust.
