Amdro Pro controls:

Imported fire ants, little fire ants, native fire ants, and other ants, such as harvester ants and bigheaded ants.

Indoor Uses

Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait may be applied in homes, residential, commercial, and other structures, and in the nonfood/nonfeed areas of institutional, warehousing, and commercial establishments, such as groceries and supermarkets, hotels and motels, hospitals and nursing homes, schools, laboratories, computer facilities, food storage areas, sewers, transportation equipment, pet shops or zoos, and in the inedible product areas of meat or poultry plants. Nonfood areas can include garbage rooms, lavatories, floor drains (to sewers), entries and vestibules, offices, locker rooms, machine rooms, boiler rooms, garages, mop closets, and storage (after canning or bottling).

In the home, all food processing surfaces and utensils must be covered during treatment or thoroughly washed before use. Cover or remove exposed food.

Using a duster or similar equipment, apply bait ONLY into cracks and crevices or other inaccessible areas such as, but not limited to, structural voids, unfinished attics, or crawl spaces. Apply 0.25 to 0.5 ounce per crack, crevice, or other inaccessible area where ants are entering the structure or where ants are nesting. Clean up any loose or excess bait. Apply evenly in unfinished attics and crawl spaces at a rate of 0.25 ounce per 100 square feet only if the space is secured or otherwise inaccessible to children or domestic animals.

Outdoor Uses

Amdro Pro may be applied outdoors on lawns, landscaped areas, golf courses, and other noncropland areas such as airports, roadsides, cemeteries, commercial grounds, parks, school grounds, picnic grounds, athletic fields, and other recreational areas, as well as on grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges) or corrals and other animal holding areas. DO NOT expose animals to Amdro Pro granules.

Amdro Pro may be applied in and around container or field-grown ornamental and nonbearing nursery stock and on sod farms (commercial turf). Amdro Pro can also be applied to the soil around nonbearing fruit or nut trees. DO NOT harvest food/feed from nonbearing nursery stocks within 1 year of application.

DO NOT graze or feed lawn or sod clippings to livestock.

Apply when ants are actively foraging (typically when soil temperature is greater than 60° F). Test using a small amount of bait near a fire ant mound. Repeat applications as needed.

Grass Forage (Pasture and Rangeland)

For fire ant control in grass forage (pasture and rangeland), Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait or a blend of Amdro Pro plus Extinguish Professional Fire Ant Bait can only be used in the following states:

Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia

Use of Amdro Pro on grass forage in states other than those listed is unlawful.

Apply Amdro Pro on grass forage (pasture and rangeland) to control ants. For fire ant control, refer to the Fire Ant Use Areas section. DO NOT exceed the maximum application rate of 8.0 lbs per acre per year. DO NOT apply more than 4 times per year with a minimum application interval of 90 days.

DO NOT cut and bale hay from pastures and rangeland treated with Amdro Pro until 7 days after the bait application is made. The cutting and baling hay restrictions do not apply when the treated pasture and rangeland is used solely to support companion animals (e.g. horses, llamas). These companion animals cannot be used for food or feed.

Amdro Pro plus Extinguish

Apply a blend of Amdro Pro and Extinguish to control imported fire ants in nonagricultural lands and grass forage (pasture and rangeland). For grass forage (pasture and rangeland), refer to the Fire Ant Use Areas section. These products cannot be mixed with any other product bearing a label prohibiting such mixing. Amdro is great!

    By Ken on 10/12/2010

I love this product. Mound treatments work well if you know where all the mounds are. Spread Amdro and the ants will find it, take it home, and it will kill the whole mound. It is not cheap but it works great...

worst product that I have used

    By Libby on 10/06/2011

I used this product and treated ant mounds, went back 1 week later and retreated again. Checked today, 1 week after 2nd treatment, and the mounds are being fertilized by this product. There are more ants and more mounds after the use of this product. Will never buy again.

Nothing is perfect, but Amdro Pro "works"

    By Brendan on 03/28/2012

I'm giving Amdro Pro 4 stars only because I have yet to use anything that actually works better. I've tried all of the home-baked remedies (instant grits, hot water, Indian chants, etc) and most of the commercially-available ones as well, and as a single product, Amdro works reasonably well. Unfortunately, Fire Ants are aggressive, invasive, and extremely hardy, so true extermination is impossible. Control and mitigation are the only possibilities, and that requires fairly intensive, sustained effort. There simply is no annual "one and done" method. Amdro Pro has TWICE the effective amount of active ingredient than does "Extinguish Plus" so it actually costs considerably LESS than EP for the amount of killing power in each bag. However, even with AP I often have to treat the same, larger mounds (and I've seen some monsters!) 2-3 times over the course of a month to finally kill it completely. Make sure it's dry (but not too dry), warm (but not too warm), and thoroughly spread. Forget tablespoons, we're talking CUPS per mound spread over a 10-15' radius (if spot treating). I don't want to broadcast, because we have livestock.

    Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait

    By George on 09/30/2011

    Verified Purchase

I have an eight-acre estate in fire-ant ridden rural Louisiana. There are no other homes nearby so the fireants are not controlled on adjacent property. My location, therefore, is a particularly difficult one with regard to fire ants. I have used Amdro fire ant bait for many years to control fire ants, which I sprinkle in the vicinity of the nest. The nest usually dies within 48 hours of treatment. I don't know of a better product for fire ant control.

    Great product.

    By David on 04/24/2013

    Verified Purchase

This product works very well. I have 6 acres and was infested with fire ants, mounds everywhere. I first applied a small amount of this product to each mound I could find. This worked well but after following up with a broadcast application they were gone. I went from 100's of mounds to 0. Not sure if we will ever have a problem again but as for now no fire ants.
