Product Overview

The Outdoor Ant Kit contains the professional products you need to control most common species of ants found outdoors. This kit includes Advion WDG insecticide, a non-repellent spray that should be applied around the foundation of structures and where ants may enter. It also includes two baits with different formulations and food attractants so that you can target any foraging ants: Maxforce Complete Granular Ant Bait mimics protein foods, and Antack Liquid Ant Bait mimics sweet or simple carbohydrate foods. These baits can be applied side by side, conveniently, in the included Ants No More Bait Stations.

As with all of our Pest Control Kits, we recommend using an Integrated Pest Management approach to ant control. It is crucial to practice good sanitation by eliminating competing food and water sources and eliminating harborage and entrance points to keep ants from entering the structure.

You will need a pressurized sprayer such as a Chapin 1 Gallon Hand Pump Sprayer to apply the Advion WDG. Browse all of our hand pump sprayers here.

Before applying any insecticides, it is important to inspect and prepare the treatment area. Practice good sanitation by eliminating food and water sources that may compete with the baits you are about to apply. Outdoor sanitation includes tasks such as keeping outdoor trash cans cleaned and away from the structure, removing debris piles where ants like to harbor and creating a dry zone adjacent to the structure by pulling back mulch, pine straw, or other barriers. Also, find ways to seal up and eliminate access points into the structure. These steps will help not only to treat an existing infestation but also to prevent future problems. Once you have identified the hot spots where ants are trailing and could possibly enter the structure, you are ready to use the products in your Outdoor Ant Control Kit.

How to Apply the Outdoor Ant Control Kit

STEP 1 - SPRAY - Advion WDG Insecticide

*Advion WDG is a water-dispersable granule that must be diluted with water to become a liquid, then applied with a sprayer.

*Advion WDG is a non-repellent spray, meaning it has an intentionally slow kill on the individual ant. This gives the ants time to spread the active ingredient throughout their colony through their regular social and food-sharing habits.

*Advion WDG comes in single-dose packets making measuring simple. Add 2 packets per gallon of water to cover 1,000 square feet.

*To create your mixture, fill your sprayer tank 1/3 - 1/2 with water, open your packets of Advion WDG, pour in, and gently agitate the mixture. Finish filling the tank and agitate again prior to spraying.

*Make only enough solution to use for your current application. Do not store spray solution in your sprayer since it will degrade quickly and may damage the sprayer seals. Most outdoor applications will require 1-2 gallons of finished solution.

*Apply Advion WDG solution around the foundation of the structure, creating a barrier up onto the building itself and out onto the ground around the perimeter of the home. The band of the spray can go up and out as much as you would like as long as the total band does not exceed 10 feet. Also spray areas where ants may enter, such as around window frames, door frames, places where cables, pipes or wires enter the structure, and any other place where you have noticed ants crawling or trailing on the structure.

*If you are using baits outdoors, do not make spray applications directly on top of bait or bait stations.

*Do not broadcast Advion WDG or apply in the yard away from the structure.

*Keep people and pets out of the treatment area until the application is dry, usually about an hour.

*Do not spray on edibles such as vegetable gardens.

*Store concentrate out of direct sunlight and in a temperate area for up to 3 years.

STEP 2 - BAIT - Ants No More Bait Stations, Maxforce Complete Granular Ant Bait, Antack Liquid Ant Bait

*Allow spray application to dry before placing stations.

*Always use bait in clean, dry bait stations.

*The Ants No More Bait Stations are designed for discreet outdoor use, protecting bait from rain, sunlight, and non-target animals. The two interior compartments allow you to use two different ant baits in each station. You will apply the Maxforce Complete granules in one side, and the Antack Liquid Ant Bait in the other side.

*This kit contains 12 bait stations, but you may not need to use all of them at once. Stations should be placed approximately 25 feet apart, so most homes may only use 4 stations around the perimeter of the structure. Stations may be placed in other areas of high ant activity, keeping in mind that it is neither necessary nor ideal to eliminate all the ants from an outdoor area.

*To open the stations, line up the arrow on the cylindrical body (there is a dip in the station) with the center mark on the lift tab of the lid.

*Push up on the lid, then push back on the opening so the lid can pop up.

*Apply up to 1-2 oz. (2-4 Tbsp.) of Maxforce Complete Granular Bait to one side compartment of each station (each side of the station holds approximately 2 oz. of bait). You should not fill the granules all the way to the top of the compartment to prevent excess condensation buildup.

*Add Antack Liquid Ant Bait to the 2nd compartment.  You can pour directly from the bottle by twisting the top open and gently squeezing the liquid into the compartment.  Do not overfill station.  Replenish bait as needed.

*Bait stations may be wiped clean and rinsed with water as needed. Avoid using harsh cleaners or fragrant soaps as these may make baits less palatable to the ants.

*Maxforce Complete granules can be used on the ground directly, although we recommend using these applications sparingly since bait is protected from rain and other weathering inside bait stations. Sprinkle evenly in a 1-2 foot wide band adjacent to the structure at a rate of 0.5 oz. (1 tablespoon) of bait per 25 linear feet (4-8 oz. per 200-400 linear feet). Broadcast at a rate of 1 oz per 1.800 sq ft (1.5 lbs/A). To treat mounds, sprinkle approximately 1 oz. (2 Tablespoons) of bait around each ant mound without disturbing ant activity. Apply when the ground is dry and rain is not expected for at least 24 hours.

*Store baits in a dry, temperate area, out of direct sunlight. Baits are best used within a year of opening.

    By J on 04/16/2015

Termidor SC was recommended to me by a professional pest control service and I tried it and it was the only product I will ever use from now on.

    Worked somewhat well

    By Louis on 10/27/2020

Bought this because I had multiple ant species taking over my backyard, patio, garage, and moving in to my kitchen. I live in Central Florida and anyone who lives here knows that ants are the biggest nuisance. Anyway, the Advion wdg spray worked well and knock all of the ants back substantially. However, as expected, some of them survived. 48hrs after applying Advion I set out all 12 of the "ants-no-more" bait stations with the quantum gel and the granules. None of the stations ever appeared busy and the ants seemed to disregard them. The stations were out for several days before I proceeded with my next treatment. After a few days of having the stations out, I did another band treatment using Bifen IT at the higher use rate and I have not seen a single ant, spider, centipede, or wasp since I sprayed it. Ultimately, I would buy the Advion and Bifen IT again rather than the entire kit since the bait stations didn't work for me. Perhaps I should have baited the ants for the first few days and then applied the Advion. Regardless, I don't have an ant problem anymore.

    Food for Raccoons

    By Gerald on 09/04/2016

The Termidore SC chemical spray and the Maxforce gel worked (I assume) but the Advance 375A granules put out in the bait traps didn't last one night - the raccoons found them all and ate the tasty contents, destroying some of the traps. I thought perhaps the damn raccoons would henceforth die, so after one week I put down the remainder of the bottle in the remaining traps and, you guessed it, they did it again. So the Advance 375A is just food for raccoons, nothing more. Last year I put down the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait and did not notice any of the traps violated, so I will likely buy that again. Any suggestions?

    So Far, So Good

    By Mark on 09/19/2016

The products that arrived were exactly as advertised. I have completed the treatment and have not seen any ants (or any other bugs) since. It has only been a week or so, but I am hopeful that this kit replaces my 16 year relationship with Clarks.

Q
How many months of treatment does the Outdoor Ant Kit include?
A
There is not a set number of months that the kit will last as it will depend on the level of ant activity in your yard, how many colonies there are that need to be eliminated, and how quickly they consume the bait you put down. The Termidor SC concentrate bottle that comes in the kit will make 25 gallons of finished solution, so depending on how big your home is to spray around the foundation will depend on how many months worth of treatment you will receive from it.

Q
Can I use the Outdoor Ant Kit in my vegetable garden?

I have carpenter ants in my garden.

A

The Outdoor Ant Kit should be applied around the edible garden and the Termidor SC should be applied only up against the structure 10 feet away from the vegetable garden.

Q
Can Termidor SC be used in a tow-behind tank sprayer?

I need to cover large areas of my yard to kill ants.

A

Since Termidor SC is not labeled to be used in lawns, this application would not be recommended.  It could only be used in a tow behind if you are spraying directly around the foundation of the home, 1 to 2 feet up and out.  For ants in the yard, the baits in the Outdoor Ant Kit would be your better treatment option.

Q
Can I use this kit for control of ants on my fig trees?

They seem to know when a fig is ripe and attack it before I can pick them. What product can l use.

A

If the ants are clearly attracted to the figs, then a sweet or liquid ant bait would imitate the sweet food they are seeking. The Maxforce Quantum Ant Bait that is in the Outdoor Ant Kit would be a great choice to use in stations near the tree to provide a food source before they are able to get to the fruit. Taurus SC should only be used around the structure, however, it will help with general ant control in the area.

Q
How large an area will the Outdoor Ant Kit do?
A

The Outdoor Ant Kit comes with 12 stations to use the baits in so can cover a large area depending on how many you place down.  The Taurus SC concentrate that comes in the kit will make 25 gallons of finished solution, each finished gallon of solution covers approx 1000 sqft.
