    Rodent Baiter

    By Dr on 11/17/2010

    Verified Purchase

I Bought this item to put the T Rex traps in but they don't fit in them very well. Also, I wanted to be able to keep T rex traps out during the day near pet and child traveled areas. The pets can get into them and I don't trust the ease of getting into them for the children so they did NOT work for me as intended and I am not using them. They do NOT provide the security I purchased them to provide. They are more like "take out" containers from a local eatery.

    rodent baiter 2525 box

    By Bob on 11/01/2011

    Verified Purchase

As thin plastic rat bait boxes go this one is well designed and lockable with a plastic cable tie. And the price is great. Not heavy enough plastic for lock down exterior boxes but great for interior.

    Inexpensive rat boxes

    By Bob on 10/23/2016

great rat boxes for $3 each!! they can be secured with a zip tie in front. It takes a little doing to secure the blocks of poison inside. I do it by drilling a small hole inside and threading a block of poison onto a zip tie and thru the hole inside. The containers are thin plastic SO NOT A CHILD AND PET SAFE BOX FOR EXTERIOR USE so I use them in garages and basements. I am a pro and use a lot of these.

    Rodent baiter 2525

    By Trapper on 05/29/2016

I am using these to place a rat trap into for striped gophers and they work great. I was concerned that they were built with very thin walls but I have been using these outdoors and have had zero issues. I am a professional trapper and have 24 in use.

Q
Does the Rodent Baiter 2525 for Rats have pins to hold the bait blocks inside?
A

Rodent Baiter 2525 for Rats does not contain rods for placing bait on. It is just a plastic shell.

Q
What if our dog eats a mouse after using rodent bait?

We are worried about our dog eating the mice after? Is there anything that we can use that will be safe for this?

A
We would recommend our new rodent bait from Bell Products called Terad3 Blox.  It is a new organic rodent bait that significantly reduces the risk of secondary poisoning.  Also, a dog or cat would have to get a hold of numerous dead rodents to feel the effects of a rodent bait, usually more than 10, and the pet would have to actually consume the entire rodent.  Most pets might play around with a dead rodent, but not consume it.

Q
Do the Rodent Baiters 2525 hold a snap trap?

Are Baiters large enough to hold a Rex/Snap trap inside?

A

The Rodent Baiter 2525 for Rats - CASE (24 stations) are not large enough to hold a snap trap or Trapper T Rex.  We would recommend using the Protecta Rat Bait Station or Protecta Sideckick if you are wanting to use a trap inside a station.

Q
How do I open one of your rodent baiters which I inherited when I bought my new house? I can't get it open.

It also seems to be stuck to the ground....it is located flush against the south outside wall of the house. If I wanted to continue using it, I couldn't get it open to put bait in it!

A
The rodent baitier does not have a lock and is very thin plastic and is not hard to open.  We think you probably have a Protecta Station and not a rodent baiter station.  If the station you see has two holes on the top then you probably just need a protecta key to open it.

Q
I plan to use Havoc-XT Bloks, will this keep the rat from carrying the block out of the Rodent Baiter?
A

The Rodent Baiter 2525 is not a locking or tamper resistant station, so it should not be used outdoors. Instead you would want to use a secure station such as the Protecta Sidekick or EZ Klean Rodent Bait Stations. Any bait stations for outdoor baiting will be locking and have rods inside that the bait is put on. There is no way for anyone to keep a rodent from gnawing a piece of the bait block off and carrying it back to a nest location somewhere. The rods in the station help force the rodents to eat the bait where you put it and reduce the chances of bait translocation, but it is never something anyone can completely avoid. You want to make sure you are using a bait that fits your needs if you are concerned about secondary poisoning risks. Havoc contains brodifacoum, which is an anticoagulant bait and will have some secondary poisoning risks should a predatory bird or animal eat enough of the rodents that consumed the bait. You could however go with Fastrac Soft Bait which is an acute kill and would pose no secondary poisoning risks to animals should they eat a rodent that consumed the bait. It being a soft bait also means its a different formulation that is a little harder for the rodents to run off with pieces that could be dropped in the environment.
