Product Overview

Our exclusive NY Bed Bug Kit contains the most effective professional products available for bed bug control in New York, based on the most current research. It is the ideal kit for treating 1-2 bedroom apartments. Our kit contains 2 x 20 oz. cans of PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol, 1 x 16 oz. bottle of Steri-fab, 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs, and 1 hand dusting tool, plus our exclusive step-by-step instruction guide. The New York Bed Bug Kit contains ready-to-use products and does not require the use of additional equipment.

Why do I need to use so many different products?

It is important to treat the many different areas where bedbugs hide. Each product included in the kit has a specific function to help eliminate a bedbug infestation. We do not recommend relying on one product or treatment method since bugs may avoid areas treated with certain products, or they may become resistant to certain chemicals. It is also crucial to thoroughly inspect the treatment area for possible bed bug harborages and to follow all the treatment steps, including follow-up treatments.

*Please note, due to supply chain backorder issues, you may receive a slightly different hand duster than pictured. All duster substitutions are comparable and are all used in the same manner*

Before applying any chemicals, it is crucial to prepare the area for treatment by removing clutter, vacuuming, steaming (optional), and encasing mattresses and box springs. Taking time for these preparation steps will make your treatments much more successful. Using the products in your Bed Bug Kit, treat all cracks, crevices, voids, tufts, seams, and folds where bed bugs may be found. Always keep pets, children, and other people out of the treatment area until the products have dried - usually about an hour.

STEP 1 - SPRAY - PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol

*PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol is a ready-to-use product that provides quick knockdown of bed bugs.

*PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol can be applied at any angle, making treatment of remote areas easier.

*Apply PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol as a spot or crack and crevice treatment to the following areas where evidence of bed bugs is found, contacting as many bugs and eggs directly as possible:

  • Around bed and furniture legs - Inspect wheels, casters, posts, and legs of all furniture.
  • Behind wall fixtures
  • Under floor lamps
  • Cracks and crevices along baseboards and floor moldings
  • Beneath floor coverings and along the edges of wall-to-wall carpeting
  • On infested mattress and box springs - Remove linens, then apply to tufts, seams, folds and edges. Do not treat entire surface area of mattresses.
  • Cracks and joints in bed frames, headboards, dressers, shelves, and other furniture
  • Picture frames and wall coverings - Remove from the wall and treat cracks and crevices on and behind these items.
  • Around door frames, window frames, and thresholds
  • Upholstered furniture - Apply only to the infested tufts, seams, folds, and edges, but do not apply to flat surfaces where prolonged human contact will occur.

*Do not remake beds or replace items on shelves or in drawers until spray has dried.

*Shake Well Before Use

STEP 2 - DUST - Bellow Hand Duster and CimeXa Insecticide Dust

*Once your spray application has dried, you can apply the insecticide dust.

*Using insecticide dust can be very messy, so be sure to wear gloves and consider having a moist paper towel handy to clean up excess dust.

*To fill the Bellow Hand Duster, remove the black rubber stopper on top of the duster. Gently unscrew the white top of the CimeXa dust, then slowly tap the dust into the duster. Fill the duster up to halfway (or less), so there is plenty of room for the dust to move inside the duster.

*You may want to add a few small objects such as coins, pebbles, or marbles to prevent clumping inside the duster.

*Replace the black stopper so that it fits snugly into the opening. Remove the black rubber cap from the end of the extension wand. To apply dust, hold the duster upside down, so that the extension wand is on top, then gently squeeze the bellows between the thumb and fingers.

*Apply CimeXa Dust to voids and other hidden areas where it will not be disturbed, such as:

  • Behind electrical faceplates - Remove switch and electrical plates to gain access to wall voids.
  • Along baseboards - Treat any cracks in, above, or below baseboards where the tip of the duster will fit. Also treat under the edges of carpeting where you are able.
  • Headboards - Remove from the wall or dismantle to allow thorough treatment.
  • Drawers and furniture - Remove drawers and treat along tracks and support, as well as the corners and edges of the cabinet. Also treat in cracks and crevices on the undersides of cabinets and other furniture, and in any hollow areas such as bed frame tubing.
  • Box Springs and upholstered furniture - Check for tears in fabric backing or other hollow areas where the tip of the duster may fit, and treat these areas.
  • Behind wall fixtures - Remove fixtures from walls and treat behind each one.

*Be careful to avoid over-dusting. CimeXa Dust is very fine, and it only takes an extremely small amount to kill a bed bug.

*If dust escapes into open areas, simply wipe up the excess dust with a moist paper towel.

*Do not apply dust as a broadcast or in open areas where it will be moved around as it can become an irritant.

STEP 3 - CONTACT KILL - Sterifab

*Sterifab does not require dilution, but you should shake the container well before spraying.

*Sterifab will kill bed bugs and other insects on contact only, so it is only active when it is wet.

*Because of this short action, you can apply Sterifab almost anywhere bed bugs are found.

*Use Sterifab in areas where you see live bed bugs, especially where you cannot use residual products, such as:

  • On the resting areas of sofas, chairs, mattresses, or other upholstered furniture
  • Open areas on carpets or floors where live bugs are seen
  • Walls, baseboards, or corners

*Sterifab will stay active as an insecticide, virucide, fungicide, bactericide, mildewcide, germicide, etc. as long as it is wet. Sterifab leaves no residual after it has dried.

*Do not apply to clothing items or directly to people or animals.

*Use as needed to spot treat live insects.

STEP 4 - TREAT CLOTHING AND LINENS

*Although this step does not NOT involve any chemicals in your kit, it is a crucial part of your treatment.

*Clothing, linens, or other fabric items in the infested rooms should be removed in bags, then washed and dried or dry cleaned.

*Do not return items to the infested areas until there has been no evidence of bed bugs for 30 days.

*Failure to make sure all items being returned to the room are bedbug free may cause a reinfestation.

STEP 5 - REPEAT! REPEAT! REPEAT!

*Repeat Step 1 (PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol) every 7-10 days days until no one is getting bitten and there is no further evidence such as live bugs, cast skins or fresh blood spots found. This is absolutely crucial! Depending on the severity of the infestation it can take a minimum of 7-8 weeks, including repeat treatments. Failure to be thorough can prolong the bed bug control process and can make it harder to eliminate them.

*Use Sterifab as frequently as needed to kill live bugs on contact.

    Worked like a charm!

    By Sane on 09/01/2008

For all those suffering from bed bug-induced anxiety, stress, and insomnia, the New York Bed Bug Kit will alleviate your misery. A little over a year ago we moved into a brownstone apartment in Brooklyn, completely naive to the prevalence of bed bugs in Brooklyn. It was only a few days after we moved in that I started waking up in the morning with trails of bites. I had no idea, I thought they were mosquito bites until the tenant upstairs started complaining and showed me large swollen welts all over her body that I realized we had a more serious problem. We contacted the landlord who immediately arranged for an exterminator but to no avail. After two exterminations the buggers just kept coming back, the walls infested. Moreover, the infestation in our apartment was exacerbated by the tenants who lived there prior on account of how filthy they kept the place. After 15 loads of laundry, daily vacuuming, sleepless nights, and the onset of a serious psychological breakdown (!) we did some research of our own and came across the NY bed bug kit. It worked like a charm - we haven't had any problems for nearly a year now. If the infestation is severe however, there's a good chance that the neighboring apartments are affected and it's likely the bugs will eventually come back. So I suggest, in addition to the kit, particularly the Drione dust which we found most useful. You seal your baseboards (every crack for that matter) with caulking and the holes around the drain pipes with expanding foam. I also suggest a water proof vinyl covering for your mattress and if you do have a box spring, get rid of it. As far as storing your clothes and items in plastic for a year, there's no need, the kit will take care of that, just apply it and rest easy.

    This is what you need!

    By Afs on 03/05/2007

Attention, NY. This New York Bed Bug Kit  is what you need. If you are part of the bedbug epidemic, and lots of you are, you are better off doing this yourself than relying on cheap landlords and slow public services. The KEY (#1) to using these products effectively, and solving your bedbug problem, is to REPEAT TREATMENTS EVERY TWO WEEKS, and be consistent about it. One kit lasted me for three treatments, before I had to replenish one can of spray. Expect this process to take about 6-8 weeks, and don't get discouraged in the meantime. KEY #2 is: You should also be sure to add the GENTROL IGR concentrate to this kit - you mix it with water and spritz it around. You can use the pressurized sprayers for sale on this site, if you want, or even water spray-bottles for smaller treatments (adjust the dilution accordingly!). The GENTROL is CRITICAL, because it will interrupt the reproductive cycle, and after three treatments, you'll even notice that the bites are smaller and less itchy, because the bugs aren't maturing anymore. And then, one day, they're gone! This can be done. Our landlord made one treatment, and the bites returned, and the landlord didn't. We got this kit, and I treated every two weeks for two months, and then twice more to clear up any unseen stragglers, and now we're completely bedbug free. Didn't throw our stuff out, didn't pay hundreds of dollars for every exterminator visit, and didn't lose our minds waiting for the landlord to act. You can do it too. Get the kit, get the Gentrol, go get em.

    No more bedbugs!

    By Twicebitten on 07/09/2008

I purchased this kit when I saw four bedbugs in my apartment. I was bitten once on the shoulder and twice on my leg. After three exterminators told me I'd have to pay almost $1000 to have my tiny apartment treated, I decided to give the New York Bed bug kit a try. I spread the dust and sprayed down my bed and couches thoroughly with Bedlam and the other spray. I sprayed all of my baseboards, cracks, and crevices as well. I vacuumed both couches, the floors and the bed almost everyday for two weeks.  I also covered my bed in a queen-sized vinyl cover. I was NEVER bitten again. After I did the first procedure, I waited for two weeks and did it again! I also put down glue traps to catch any stray bedbugs. So far, I haven't seen anything or been bitten again. I will do this procedure two more times to be on the safe side.

    Pretty simple

    By Andrew on 03/05/2007

I'm happy to say that the NY Bed Bug Kit (with Gentrol Concentrate) did indeed clear up our bedbug problem; we were particularly diligent about keeping a regular treatment schedule - every two weeks. We were able to keep the treatments themselves pretty simple- only in the bed area, and without major disruptions elsewhere in the house, and without having to throw out any belongings. I believe it came from your site which helped me realize that if the treatments are small but regular, it is as good or better than a single, massive dose.

    And thus the end arrived.

    By Robert on 09/06/2010

    Verified Purchase

Omg! Yes, now this is what I'm talking about. I'd been working at a summer camp and we were living a losing battle against the bed bugs. My arms looked more like red bubble wrap than anything else. Which is kind of unpleasant. After a few attempts by professionals, I decided to see what I could do about it myself. And like the saying goes, if you want something done, do it yourself. It worked splendidly! Bed bugs kept on creeping out of the walls in dying throngs and I loved it. It was beautiful. I shall always cherish the day they went away. This kit is extremely useful. Some notes though, the spray cans will empty rather quickly, especially if you have a lot of areas to cover (I lived in a cabin, rather big one) so buy a few more just in case. Dunno if the other stuff worked, but I applied sufficient amounts of it. Apart from the growth inhibitor/thingy. Because I didn't have any means of distributing it. Oh well. Maybe some more Steri-Fab as well, that stuff's extremely effective if you want an instant kill. But all in all, very efficient and easy to use! Bed bug be gone!

Q
How do bed bugs move from room to room?

Do I really have to worry about treating my couches out in my living room, if the only place I'm getting bites from is my bed? Do the bugs attach to the clothes I'm wearing and transfer that way? Do I have to worry about bringing them into someone elses house on my clothing?

A
The reason bed bug populations have exploded all over the country is their ability to move easily on people and in their belongings.  Bed Bugs in New York have been found in cabs, movie theatres, clothing stores, etc.  They can easily attach to clothing or belongings and be transported without detection sometimes.  It is very important to be very thorough and treat any places or surfaces that you congregate or site for a period of time, including the couch.

Q
What will the return address on the package appear as? I am concerned that my neighbors will be wary of me.
A
First, let us tell you that our packages are very discreet. We only use plain brown boxes or priority mail boxes, there are no "pest company" logos on the outside of the box. The return label does usually say the name of our company, but it is not big or in a bright color or anything. Also, upon request we can make the return shipping label just say "shipping, shipping" and the name of our company will not be visible at all. If you wish for your package to not have our company name, you can request that option in the "order comments" section while you are placing your order. This box is on the same page where you select your shipping options. If placing your order on the phone, please let the representative know that you would like your package to be discreet.

Q
Out of the Bed Bug Kit, which product goes first?
A
It does not really matter which you use first because all of the products are typically used in different places.  For the most part though, you typically apply the Steri-Fab and Bedlam first (the sprays) and then the dust product last after the sprays are dry.

Q
What is the best place to apply each product in the New York Bedbug Kit?

Do we have to wait that bedlam dry before using sterifab? Can we use both on the bedframe at the same time?

A
You should apply liquids first and allow them to dry before you apply dusts. You can spray Bedlam and Sterifab in the same areas but it would be somewhat redundant to do so. We recommend that you use the Sterifab in the most sensitive areas where you may come into skin contact (upholstered furniture, surface of mattresses) and use the Bedlam directly in cracks in crevices where you might not be able to get the Sterifab to go (joints in furniture, tufts, seams and folds of furniture and mattresses, headboards or foot boards). You can also refer to the Bedbug Guide which came with your kit for even more specific instructions on each product.
