Product Overview

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control may be used in a variety of exterior settings include fields, pastures, recreational, residential and landscaped turf, for excellent control of fire ants. To get the best results, apply the dust around dawn or dusk, because that is when the ants are most active. Since Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control kills pests on contact, any application of the dust made during hot and dry conditions would be useless, since the ants would be deep in their mounds. Do not allow others to enter the area of application until the dust has completely settled. Grass in the treated area can be injured if too much is applied, so follow the directions on the label closely.

    Stinks but works great!

    By Sue on 05/03/2008

Acephate 75 SP is the best product I have found to get rid of fire ants!! I went into our local feed store one day and asked about poison for fire ants, because what I was buying at Walmart just was not working. So she told me this stuff stinks awful and is expensive but it works. She told me to mix about 4-5 teaspoonfuls into a small bag of cornmeal and just sprinkle it on the ant mounds and yahoo!! Fire ants be gone!! I will not use anything else!! I do not mind paying good money for a product that works, and this stuff does.

    acephae 75

    By Mrs.g.walker, on 01/05/2014

    Verified Purchase

I been buying this for years, I use it for everything, outside, indoors etc. it kills them all, roaches, spiders, water bugs, I even loaned some to a friend and it killed bed bugs as well, I simply made up some in an old spray bottle and went around the baseboards, windows ledges, behind furniture, in between the cracks of dresser drawers, behind the commode, etc. any where you think they might hide, just use about 5 scoops and fill the rest with water & shake, it stinks like hell and dries with a white mist but wipe down and forget about your problem, repeat in 6 months. ok around kids and pets, but do wipe down with a dry damp cloth, not wet, you don't want to wash it away, don't have the kids or pets licking these areas, but I assure you they won't lick twice, it's bitter, stings & stinks, spray good and good out for a couple of hours, come home, air the place down a minute and happy, happy for the next 6 months, at least that's how I do it --enjoy!!!!!( ijs,& in my opinion).

    By Keith on 12/01/2011

I bought this stuff about four years ago from a friend that said it was good for roaches. Well I've tried everything else and it works great. Haven't seen one in a long time.

Q
What quantities of Acephate 75 do I mix per gallon of water for home sprayer uses?

The fire ant killer -- acephate 75% -- can be used as a systemic insecticide in non-food applications but the can's label is not helpful in determining how many teaspoons, for example, to use per gallon of water in various garden applications.

A
Acephate 75 was reviewed by the EPA and they had to change their product label for only the fire ant uses listed. Any other use would now be considered an "off label" use and we are prohibited from giving directions for off label uses. You most likely can find the old label by searching "Acephate 75 product label" online.
