    Q
Is there a way to keep squirrels from getting into the Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Station?
    A
Yes, it is possible that a smaller squirrel can fit in the Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Stations. Since squirrels and rats are similar sized, there are not really any options that will target only rats and not squirrels other than a live catch trap so if you happen to catch the squirrel you can let it go.

    Q
Can the Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Station be secured to a fence so that no one can steal it?

The Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Station can be secured to a fence by using a zip tie through the holes on the back of the station. You can also use liquid nails and glue the station to a landscape paver as an alternative.

    Q
Do you have more literature on the Protecta Sidekick Installation/Maintenance?
I am in charge of the ready service contract for pest control for the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. For our rodents, we use over 50 of the Protecta Sidekicks at our facility. I would like to know if there is any literature or guidelines for installing and maintaining the boxes so we can ensure our contractor is adhering to your guidelines. I am hoping your guidelines and literature will answer some of these questions. Where is the best placement of the boxes? What is the distance that should be between each box? How does the box reduce the rodent population? When should the bait be changed? How do you determine if the box is effective at its current area? Also, since I'm new to pest control, do you offer any introductory classes, seminars, webinars that will educate me in this field? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    A
We only have the information you see available on our website. The manufacturer very well may have more information available for commercial applications. You can reach Bell Labs at 800-323-6628. We do believe that they may have videos available that would explain more on installation in commercial facilities.

    Q
Is it possible for raccoons to get the bait inside the Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Station?
I think I saw a raccoon trying to get the bait from inside the station, but I'm not sure if they're actually getting it or not.
    A

Raccoons could get the bait if it has been eaten down enough to not be on the rods inside the station.  You should monitor the stations monthly or weekly to ensure there is fresh bait and not small pieces inside for them to get out.  As long as the bait is still on the rods the Protecta Sidekick Rat Bait Station is designed to prevent non target animals from getting to it.  They may try as most baits have food based attractants but should not be able to pull it out.
