Protect-a-bed Bed Bug Box Spring encasements are the pest control and hotel industry's choice for protecting box springs against bed bugs, allergens, dust mites, dirt and liquids. These high-quality protectors are trusted by hotels world-wide and have been certified by an entomology laboratory to be 100% bed bug proof. Any bed bugs you seal up in the bed bug boxspring encasement cannot escape or bite through the encasement, and will eventually die. This means you can save your boxspring without throwing it out!

Why use a box spring encasement for bed bug control?
Bed Bug boxspring encasements and mattress encasements are a recommended addition to any bed bug treatment program. You will still need to treat infested areas of the bedrooms. However, because the #1 breeding ground for bed bugs is the mattress and boxspring, you can now just spray and then zip up these critical areas which will eliminate a large part of the infestation. In addition, this can save an infested boxspring so you don't have to throw it out and buy a replacement. Any eggs and/or bed bugs trapped in the encasement will eventually die. Boxspring encasements and mattress encasements are also nice because they provide very few if any places for bed bugs to hide and harbor (compare that with all of the folds, seams, nooks and crannies of a mattress and box spring), and they are clean and white making future investigation and treatment easy. Also consider that if you should find bed bugs on your mattress again at some point in the future, treatment would be as easy as taking off the mattress encasement and washing it in warm water. Again, the key harborage areas for bed bugs would be protected, and so would your mattress investment.
We recommend spraying an infested boxspring with bed bug control products first before encasing it and then keeping the encasement intact for at least 12 months (bed bugs can live a very long time without a blood meal). The bed bugs and eggs inside will die, and the box spring will be protected from further infestation.

Too delicate
By Annette on August 27, 2010
Verified PurchaseThe cover certainly works but the material is very delicate, so it can puncture easily. I used the adhesive moleskin included in the kit to cover the sharpish edges of my box spring, but I also covered the edges with duct tape. It would be better to have a box spring cover made of the same material as the mattress cover.

Protec a Bed box spring cover
By Anna on November 3, 2011
Verified PurchaseFast delivery! Great price, Easy to install. Fits my full sized box spring well. The cover had some smudges and black spots so I called Protect a bed directly and they replaced the cover at no cost to me. A really terrific company and a really terrific product. It does take two people to install the cover and, more importantly, to lay it on the steel frame so as not to compromise the cover by sliding it onto the frame and possibly causing a tear. So be careful, but it is not at all difficult.
Got you covered!:)

By Monica on August 21, 2012I'm not giving it 5 stars because the only issue I have is that I wish it was thicker. The material feels thin so you really have to be careful when putting it on. Have somoene help you. Besides this, it's great.

March 7, 2013Jr from Des Moines Iowa asked:
QMy full size box spring + mattress encasement covered the metal frame but made small holes. Is duct tape ok?
I found some small holes on the edges should i just buy an extra encasement to double protect the box spring?
AWe recommend covering the entire inside of the bed frame with duct tape because those very small metal burrs can cause small holes in the boxspring encasements. At this point we would recommend using a second encasement on top of the first so that you don't miss covering a hole with duct tape.
