Misting System Chemicals
By Greg in Duluth, GA on 06/01/2011
This is the first summer out of 5 that we have used something other than RipTide in our misting system: which was about 85-90% effective against Mosquitoes. Living in the woods near the river made it a great breading grounds for mosquitoes. I found Pyranha on your website with one positive review. We tried it and have found it to be 100% effective against mosquitoes. In fact we spend Memorial Day around our pool without a single complaint that someone got bite by a MOSQUITOE! I plan to reorder the rest of the summer for a mosquito free backyard.

This product is very good, with other products the mosquitoes were knocked out but not die. Pyranha 1-10 PX is really a killer and I order more!

Pyranha 1-10 PX Permethrin Misting System Concentrate
By Tim in Homestead, FL on 07/06/2012
It works to get rid of mosquitoes and other biting insects...must do before sunrise early AM...and no wind...for it to be effective you need to create a low penetrating ground fog.

We are using this in our fogger and it doesn't have a harsh odor or smell. It kills instantly. It does harm some plants and leaves like a "burn"effect. It will discolor flowers. But in this case what's worse the bugs or clipping flowers. It seems though that it has to have instant contact in order to kill. I'm a first time user so I don't know what the long term affects are.

I had a local company install and service a bug spray system with unknown chemical for the past 2 years with minimal to no results. When this arrived I sprayed first with a pump then put remainder in my 55 gal drum and after 2 weeks I have noticed a difference. If it continues this good I will continue to use. Pleasure doing business with DoMyOwn, knowledgeable staff and prompt delivery. Why drive 60 miles to purchase when it is delivered free to my door, and at a reasonable price.

Great product for home and boat dock applications. Almost completely eliminates insects and spiders. Used it for 4 years now and certainly have not been disappointed.
Didn't work on Mosquitoes
By Greg in Kildeer, IL on 08/08/2017
Figured I would try something different in my 2.5 Gallon mister as the Talstar P the Mosquitos are getting immune to. Pyrahna didn't work at all. I used 2oz per gallon of water. It foamed quite a bit in the mister. Not certain what I'm going to try next.
Safe for my hens
By Clay in Dallas, Texas on 05/06/2017
I was worried that the Bug Armor would harm my hens but after some modification to the system to avoid misting in the area, they are OK and the bugs are not, great product around hens or other livestock as advertised!

This product works great in my misting system. Mixes well with water, whereas the previous version of this product seemed to gel after awhile. I live in Houston TX, and we have had a lot of rain lately, and with that, a lot of mosquitoes. I can go outside anytime day or night, and not get a single bite.

Dealing with this company is a breeze, Website is easy to use, very good array of products. The product is everything it is advertised to do. I live in Florida on the water and bugs are a problem much of the year. I have had a misting system for a number of years and this product works, can't ask for more than that.

It seems to work OK to eliminate the mosquitoes. The amount of mosquitoes are less after using it, although still see some flying around and we got bitten. For the moss, the amount is also less after using it, though still see some. I saw some dead bees on the ground, but some are still flying around.

QHow often do I need to apply Pyranha?
I live in Dallas and water the yard 2 to 3 times a week during summer months - does water/rain effect the product longevity?
AMost folks use this product in their mosquito misting systems and they set the system to go off once a night when the mosquitoes are most active. The product really won't last more than 24 hours when used in this manner.
QDo I need to adjust the pH of the water with Pyranha 1-10x like you must with Riptide?
Riptide recommends pH adjustment to 5.5 to 7.0 and I could not find any info on the Pyranha product about this to maintain product viability.
AThere are certain products that are susceptible to problems with high pH balances in water. If a product label does not specifically address this issue it is because this particular product does not usually have any issues with pH.
QCan Pyranha 1-10PX be used in a propane fogger?
APyranha should not be used in a propane or thermal fogger. It is formulated for misting systems or cold foggers. For propane or thermal foggers you should use Pyrocide 100.

QCan I use Pyranha 1-10 PX to apply directly to horses as a repellent?
My horses usually only spend 1/3 of their day in their stalls with my misters. It would be great to use the same product for the misters as well as a direct apply repellant when they get turned out. Thanks.
AAccording to page 4 of the Pyranha 1-10 PX Permethrin product label this product can safely be used directly on your horses as long as you follow the usage instructions.

QCan Pyranha Bug Armor Permethrin Misting System Concentrate, Bifen IT, and Nyguard be mixed and applied with a backpack blower/mister?
A Pyranha Bug Armor Permethrin Misting System Concentrate is labeled to be used in misting systems. It could be used in a backpack blower/mister, but in extremely limited areas such as up against structures, door/window†frames. It is not recommended to be used on open†ornamental†or tree environments. We would not recommend you mixing this†with Bifen IT and Nyguard. That would be an overkill of too much product in one area, and you would most likely get the opposite effect of what you are looking for.†We would recommend something like Exciter instead.† †

QCan Bug Armor be mixed with Bifen XTS, and Nyguard IGR?
A Pyranha Bug Armor can be mixed with Nyguard IGR and used inside of a misting system. Bifen XTS is not labeled to be used inside of a misting system so it cannot be mixed and used in this case. Nyguard IGR can be mixed with either Pyranha Bug Armor or Bifen XTS for future reference.

QCan Pyranha 1-10 PX be mixed with other products similar to it?
AThere would really be no reason to mix another misting solution with the Pyranha 1-10 PX, though you could add a knockdown product like Exponent which will increase the speed of kill and level of control of pyrethroids, fogging solutions and other insecticide concentrates.

QUse in a tankless sytem
No barrel, small machine mixes with water. Dealer puts in 10% permethrin w/pbo. Need backup supply when he can't get to us in time.
AWe will need additional information on the type of equipment that you will be applying the Pyranha 1-10 PX Permethrin Misting System Concentrate in to provide you with specific instructions. Please contact us at 866-581-7378 M-F 9-5 PM EST. We look forward to hearing from you!

QDoes permethrin lose it's effectiveness after heating up by sitting in a misting system barrel?
Pyrethrins (e.g. RipTide) isomerize and lose strength when cooked in a misting system barrel that heats up in the sun. What is the story with Pyranha and heat? Thanks.
AWe recommend contacting Pyranha directly at 1-800-231-2966 to discuss the effects of their product when it is heated in a misting barrell.

QIs Pyranha 1-10 PX safe to spray in horse pastures?
Do horses have to stay off of the grass for a period of time after spraying. I am using a yard sprayer for application.
APyranha 1-10 PX is labeled to be applied to pastures and horse stables. Keep the horses away until it has dried. This can take 2-3 hours.

Would it be effective to pour some of this directly into some standing water to prevent mosquitoes from breeding? Or should I spray the Pyranha over it so that some of it settles on top the water? Also, to keep my potted plants from drying out inbetween rains, I leave them in large saucers that catches the extra water until it is absorbed. I don't want these saucers to breed mosquitoes. What if I pour a tiny bit into a saucer -- will this prevent mosquito breeding? What happens when the saucer dries up? Is there sufficient Pyranha residual left on the dry bottom or do I need to add more Prranha each time I fill the saucer with water? Will fogging in the area leave some residual Pyranha on the surface of water filled saucers?
A No, this product should be used as directed in a misting system. If you are needing something to put directly into the water, try BTI Mosquito Dunks. These will treat for 30 days or more. One dunk treats 100 sq. ft. of surface water, no matter what the depth is. The mosquito dunks are also labeled for potted plants. If you are looking for something to spray, I would advise using Bifen I/T mixed with an IGR (insect growth regular), such as Nyguard. This product lasts for up to 7 months, preventing the mosquitos (as well as other pests) from reproducing. No, pouring the product into a saucer will not create a residual. Pyranha is meant to be used in a misting system. Misting in the area will leave a slight residual due to the permethrin in the product.
