Rat X

Rat X is a non-toxic rodent bait that kills rodents without harming any other species. Rat X is made from 100% natural ingredients - it can even be used inside food handling facilities. The mice and rats will eat the bait like a food source and Rat X will cause dehydration. Mice and rats have stomach sensors that tells them when they are thirsty. When they eat this bait, it turns off their stomach sensors and it can no longer tell their brain to drink water. They have no desire for drinking water so they will just go back to their burrow, and begin the cycle - dehydration, failing kidneys, coma and then death. Great product to use around animals and children because it is safe and non toxic.

Product Documents

Rats carry disease. Therefore, remove all remains of bait and bait containers after treatment and dispose of safely. Search for rodent bodies and dispose of safely (e.g.burn or bury). Do not dispose of in refuse sacks or open rubbish tips. When handling, use precautions to avoid the possibility of disease transmission. Use disposable rubber gloves. Apply household disinfectants at recommended concentrations to rodent droppings, nest and surrounding area, and allow for at least 15 minutes contact time before removal. Clean the area with paper towels or a mop. Thoroughly wash hands with soap and water and dispose of gloves.

5 of 5 stars  Amazing stuff
By Catrina in Naples, FL on 08/08/2013

I am so impressed!!! I bought this at the recommendation of a friend and set up baggies around the yard, MY DOG FOUND THEM AND ATE THEM!!!! (He eats everything as his name is "Chomper"). I was so scared as he took down at least 3oz of the stuff. The Amazing part was NOTHING was wrong with Chomper at all. Not that day or even a few days later!!! No Vet bills, no Rats and it was inexpensive. This product is Amazing!!!!

    5 of 5 stars  Wow!
By Stacey in Florida on 08/06/2013

I have young kids and puppies so treating for pests has always been a problem or a fear but knowing RatX is safe put my mind at ease. It was so easy and I didn't need help either. The rats went right for the wrapped up pellets within a day the small ones were dead and a couple later the larger ones. Woohoo!! No more rats or noise at night in my attic or garage! Thanks RatX!

Rat X is a multi-feed bait, so rodents do have to consume quite a bit over time to get a lethal dose. You also want to be sure the eliminate any competing food sources when using Rat X. This bait is excellent when there is concern about non-target animals coming into contact with the bait, however, since it is not toxic to pets or people.

4 of 5 stars  Great Product and Definitely Works!
By Cedric in Memphis,Tn on 03/09/2016

Great product it didn't take 4-5 days to work it took only 2 days for my problem. I placed it in plastic bags in the activity areas on Sunday nite by Tuesday I noticed my 2nd placement hadn't been touched by Friday still 2nd feeding was still there. Unfortunately they didn't come out to go into their coma now I'm dealing with the horrible smell of dead rodents in my walls! :'( If there's a way around dealing with the death smell it would be great....But overall I'm impressed! !

By Karen in Southold, NY on 03/14/2017

I am on my second bag, Week 3. I have made my little packages and rolled them into the rat holes, pushing them in with a stick, in my backyard day after day. Each day the bags would be gone. The dog found one or dug it up- and she is fine - she wants to dig up the rats now too! I was going to give up when the last few days we have been seeing rats walking around during the day on our patio. Rats do not do this. Today we captured 5 rats. I will continue to do this until I feel they are gone. Thank you Rat x

1 of 5 stars  Alternative food source
By Kevin in Dallas, TX on 02/16/2017

I think Rat X may be the alternative food source. Have been refilling feed stations for over a month. They keep eating it but no dead rats, just more droppings. Not sure I want to invest in another bag of this.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Thank you for your feedback! It does take a lot of bait for Rat X to kill an individual rodent. We do recommend using traps indoors so that you can locate and remove dead rodents. You should also be sure to inspect the area for ways the rats are entering the structure so that you can exclude them. 1 of 5 stars  Rats have become an entire colony!
By Marta in Denair on 01/26/2017

I had a couple rats in my garage. I bought RatX thinking that would take care of the problem. I have gone thru the entire bag. They loved it! And now rats are in my garage, crawlspace, walls and attic! I hear them having parties everywhere! Did not work!

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Thank you for your comments! You should plan to use at least 1.5-2 oz. of bait per placement, so if you are still seeing activity, then you would need to use significantly more bait. You should plan to keep a continuous supply of bait for at least 2 weeks, regardless of what kind you are using, when dealing with rodents. Keep in mind that you should also eliminate competing food and water sources, as well as seal up entrance points into the structure. We have additional tips in our Rat Treatment Guide here: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-get-rid-of-rats-a-525.html

  • 5 of 5 stars  Rat X works
By Brenda in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on 01/13/2017

I put the Rat X in active areas, the mice loved it. I refilled small trays for two days. By day three the mice were gone. I have dogs, the relief they were safe was worth the try with a safe for animal product. I have been fighting my mouse problem for a year with other products with NO success. I put all dog food in a plastic container. I had all my accessable foods in plastic containers, bread, packets of seasoning, chips, ECT. I love this product, it will be behind my stove and refrigerator for preventing another infestation. I highly recommend Rat X.

1 of 5 stars  Do not buy
By Hanna in Chattanooga, TN on 12/31/2016

This would be a zero star review and if I had the option, I'd put it into negative stars. We eliminated food competition, gave this product a good solid month to work. However since these are basically salt pellets and not actual poison, it only FED the problem! DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF!

QAfter a mouse eats Rat-X, but before it dies, will the mouse leave greenish blue droppings?
I put some out to get rid of a small mouse problem in my house and noticed some black droppings a few days later. But there were also a few really bright blue or green droppings as well. I know other poisons can cause green droppings, but those poisons are also green, which makes sense. But since Rat-X is brown, I am confused. Help! I'm confused and a little worried, but still hopeful! Thanks!

AYes, the droppings of the mice and/or rats will become bleached in color and larger in size after consuming Rat X. This is an indicator of the product acceptance and consumption and can be up to three times larger than pellets from non-treated rodents.

QWill Rat X kill other rodents (non target species) such as squirrels, prairie dogs, ground squirrels, beavers, etc?
I am not finding any clear answers whether this product will kill rodents other than rats and mice. For example, some squirrels are protected where I live, and I don't want to inadvertently kill them. As far as I know, all rodents share the same digestive system, not exclusive to rats and mice.

A

Rat X is only labeled to eradicate mice and rats. However, it is possible that the product will harm those that are also in the rodent family such as chipmunks, squirrels, etc.

QCan Rat X kill a mouse and dry it up so it doesn't smell?
I used the pellets, and the mice ate them, but didn't die. I heard there are products that kill mice and they dry up and don't smell. I have an extreme mouse phobia and I can't set traps, but the cold weather has caused the problem. There is nothing they can eat in my house. So I think they would definitely eat poison. I have bought the pellet packs from you previously.

A

Unfortunately, that is a myth. There is no product that will dry up a mouse and not make the mouse smell after it's dead. Rat X is the safest product available for indoor use to bait for mice and rats. I do recommend reading over our article on "How to Get Rid of Mice" for further understanding on how to bait and exclude mice from your home.

QIs Rat X harmful to squirrels, possums, armadilloes or raccoons?
I have a squirrel feeder which has now attracted a rat. I do not want to get rid of the feeder as it also attracts birds. Is your product ok to use with other animals in close proximity?

A

Rat X <span new="" roman;="" font-size:medium"="">is a non-toxic rodent bait that kills rodents without harming any other species. There is not enough research to say if it kills squirrels or not since they can be classified as a rodent.

QCan Rat X be used in bait stations?
Can I use this in the bait station along with the Terad3?

A

Rat X can be applied into rat bait stations. We do not recommend putting it in with another type of bait. Below is the product label for more information.

QWhich product is a white powder base poison that is 0.01% that i may purchase
A pest control came to my mothers home and used a white powder base poison to rid the home of rats in the attic / roof. The gentleman placed the powder in a PVC shaped in a "T" filled the long part of the tube with the powder and at the end of the PVC shaped in a "T" he opened up the two top ends and filled it with peanut butter on one side and anchovies on the other. Closed the lids where the Peanut Butter and the Anchovies where placed, placed the PVC in the attic and sure enough the stampede of rats came and then no longer to be found...

AUnfortunately the product that was probably used was the Ditrac Tracking powder which is a restricted used product only available to licensed professionals.  We do a product called Rat X which would be recommended safe for use when baiting inside.

QWhich product is best for rodents, but I have indoor dogs?

ARat-X would be good to use for rodents inside if you wanted to use a bait as it will not harm other mammals.  We most recommend using traditional snap traps and glueboards when you have an indoor rodent problem.

QThe directions use ounces and grams for measurements. About how many pellets does that equal?

ARat X, like any other rodenticide, you want to make sure you are putting out more than enough bait to take care of the mice since the exact number is likely unknown. Check the areas you are putting the bait weekly and put out more as needed.

QIs Rat X a "cat friendly" way to get rid of or poison mice?

A

We would recommend using Rat X. Rat X is a non-toxic rodent bait that kills rodents without harming any other species. Rat X is made from 100% natural ingredients - it can even be used inside food handling facilities Please read the label for your application. You could also use multi-catch traps indoors such as the Catchmaster 612 Multi-Catch Mouse Trap. This trap can be used alone or with a Trapper LTD Glue Board inside each trap. A cat may be able to open this trap, so you would want to place it in a way where the animals could not turn it, or you could secure the lid with tape to keep it closed.

QWill Rat X work for Wood Rats?
I read that you do not know if it will work for prairie dogs, etc. We have wood rats (pack rats) and mice that are driving us crazy outside - mice in the truck and quonset hut .... wood rats in the truck and car engine compartments. Wondering if "rats" includes wood rats.

A

Rat X†will also work for Wood Rats. Please let us know if you have any more questions.†

QWill tossing handfuls of Rat X in the attic work to kill mice in the attic and wall voids?
I can't get up in my attic so tossed handfuls of rat X all over the Attic. I figure the mice will find the rat X since they are so active at night and run all over the Attic.

A

If the rodents were to consume the†Rat X, it will kill them. Keep in mind, we recommend using Glueboards and traps indoors. Tossing the bait in the attic can attract more insects. We see due to lack of space, how you would want to toss the bait.†It's recommended to use bait in bait stations around the outside of the structure. Please see our Rodent Guide.†
