Riptide is one of the most popular choices for outdoor automatic misting systems to control mosquitoes and flies! Riptide Waterbased Pyrethrin ULV is new technology that delivers effective control of a wide range of insects including mosquitoes, stored product pests, cockroaches, biting insects, crawling insects, flies and more without oil residues or oil-related issues.
|Active Ingredient:||Pyrethrins - 5.00%|
|Target pests:||Stored Product Pests, Cockroaches, biting Insects, crawling insects, mosquitos, flies, and more (see label)|
|For use in:||Indoors and outdoors|
|Application:||1 fl oz. undiluted per 1000 cu. ft. of space. One 1/2 gallon of Riptide mixes with a 55 gallon drum for misting systems.|
How Riptide ULV Works
Riptide Waterbased Pyrethrin ULV contains 5% pyrethrins, a natural active ingredient which is derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethrins attack an insect’s central nervous system, resulting in paralysis and eventual death. The high concentration of pyrethrins in Riptide provides incredibly rapid knockdown of target pests with no worry of resistance, making Riptide an excellent flushing agent to repel pests out of hiding places and away from areas such as dry goods storage areas. Pyrethrins attack target pests on contact, then decompose rapidly in the environment. This means Riptide is harsh on pests but extremely gentle around humans and mammals, allowing it to be approved for use in an extremely wide range of locations.
Riptide also contains Piperonly Butoxide, a chemical synergist designed to keep pyrethrins stable and allow for even quicker knockdown, meaning less active ingredient is needed to kill target pests. (Piperonyl butoxide has no insecticidal properties on its own.)
Riptide is most commonly applied using misting or fogging equipment, and insects sprayed directly are killed on contact. Riptide is a contact kill only; it does not have any residual effect after it is dry.

Target Uses of Riptide Insecticide
Riptide is one of the most popular choices for automatic misting systems to control Mosquitoes, Flies, etc. Riptide can be used indoors and outdoors and it will not leave an oily residue, as it does not contain any oil. Riptide kills biting insects including ticks, mosquitoes and flies. Riptide is also cost effective compared to other pyrethrin sprays.
Riptide can also be used as a ULV or space spray, contact spray, around home foundations, dried fruit product storage areas, stored food areas, on peanuts, nuts, beans, seeds in bulk, bags or other packaging, in federally inspected meat and poultry plants, stored grains, on animals, treatment of outdoor annoyance pests and more. **Please read product label for application instructions and safety precautions.**
Riptide is very effective for controlling flying and crawling insects including mosquitoes, biting flies, cockroaches, moths, beetles, ticks, weevils, mealworms, gnats, pillbugs, silverfish, spiders, wasps, waterbugs, yellow jackets, ants and more.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Pyrethrins 5.0%, Piperonyl butoxide (synergist) 25%
Riptide Application Instructions
Riptide is a water-based concentrate that can be used undiluted or diluted in a variety of equipment, but it is particularly designed for use in Ultra Low Volume (ULV) foggers and automatic misting systems. Application instructions vary depending on the target pest and area treated. See below for details. Always read the product label completely before use.
Yield varies greatly by use. Use one half gallon bottle with water in a 55 gallon drum for outdoor misting systems. At a rate of 1 fl. oz. undiluted per 1,000 cubic feet of space, each half gallon bottle treats approximately 64,000 cubic feet when fogging indoors.
Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for Riptide:
*Undiluted – Indoors - appropriate for many uses at a rate of ½ to 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 cubic feet of space – maximum strength and fastest knockdown
*Undiluted – Outdoors - use with a ULV spraying device at a rate of 5 fluid ounces per minute
*Diluted – Indoors – 1 part concentrate into 1 to 10 parts water; apply at the rate of 1 to 2 fluid ounces per 1,000 cubic feet of space
*1 to 3 fl. oz./gal. of water – surface spray indoors; 1 gallon of finished solution per 750 square feet
*2 fl. oz./gal. of water - outdoor applications around house foundations; control of pests on shrubs, fruit and shade trees
*On cattle and horses – 1 part concentrate with 49 parts water – mix well and apply a light mist
*On poultry – 1 part concentrate with 25 parts water – spray roosts, walls, nests or cages and birds with a fine mist
*Other animals – 2 fl. oz. or less per adult animal – varies with target pest
*Automatic ULV Spraying Systems – mix ½ gallon (64 fl. oz.) of concentrate in 55 gallons of water
Use in aerosol generators to kill exposed and accessible stages of many varieties of flies, moths, stored product pests, and crawling pests. Close room and shut off all air conditioning or ventilating equipment. Apply at the rate of ½ to 1 fluid ounce concentrate per 1,000 cubic feet of space. Direct spray towards ceiling and upper corners of room. Leave room closed for ½ hour and ventilate thoroughly before re-entry. See product label for specific pest and location applications.
For use in mechanical fogging or spraying equipment to control accessible stages of a variety of stored product pests, crawling pests, and flying insects. Close room and shut off all air conditioning or ventilating equipment. Dilute at the rate of 1 part concentrate into 1 to 10 parts water and mix well. Apply at the rate of 1 to 2 fluid ounces per 1,000 cubic feet of space, filling the room with mist. Vacate treated area and ventilate before re-entry. See Dilution Table for ULV Foggers on product label.
Federally Inspected Meat and Poultry Plants – Dilute 1 part concentrate with 4 parts water and use with a ULV spraying device at the rate of one fluid ounce per 1,000 cubic feet of room space. Use as a space spray only when plant is not in operation. Repeat as necessary but not more than once per day. Do not reapply within 1 day.
Surface Spray – To control accessible stages of cockroaches, silverfish, beetles, and crickets: Dilute 1 to 3 ounces of concentrate with one gallon of water, mix well and apply as a coarse wetting spray using approximately 1 gallon of spray mixture per 750 square feet of surface. To ensure maximum control of listed crawling insects, spray thoroughly into all cracks, molding, crevices, walls, floors and surfaces of bins, storage and handling areas.
Automatic ULV spraying systems – Mix ½ gallon (64 oz.) concentrate in 55 gallons of water to yield a solution of 0.046% Pyrethrins and 0.23% Piperonyl Butoxide. When filling tank, partially fill the system reservoir with water, add concentrate, and then fill the rest of the tank with water. Nozzles should be rated for a delivery rate not to exceed 1.25 fl. oz. of solution per minute, with one nozzle covering 100 square feet. For best performance, spray solution should be in the pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. Automatic systems must be programmed so as not to activate and/or release pesticides when people, pets, and food or feed are present.
Flying Insects – If possible, space spray application should be made in the evening or early morning when mosquitoes are typically most active. With a ULV spraying device, spray at a dosage rate of 5 fluid ounces of undiluted concentrate per minute.

Beat The Bugs BACK!
By Keith in Dania Beach, FL on November 16, 2010
I'm Blessed to live in South Florida where the weather has allowed me to transform my patio into my favorite room. Yep..On a canal, poolside with T.V.,bar, couches (you get the picture). Oh so inviting to everyone...including no-see-ums and veracious mosquitoes that attack in squadron formation. Solution? A misting system that I maintain/refill myself at a fraction...really..1/3..the cost of a commercial contractor...Who often uses the same spray. Riptide 5.0% works so well that I've nearly forgot that the bugs are around. Now if only they would come up with something to get rid of the Iguana's that eat my plants...

Great Product at a great price
By Mike in Atlanta, GA on August 4, 2010
This product contains 5% Pyethrin which is a higher concentration than the 3% you get with other products. That means you can use less and have the same results. A half-gallon of Riptide works the same as one gallon of other products. I saved about $100 by using domyownpestcontrol.com versus the product from my spray system manufacturer. Thank you!

It is a very good product. I use to pay more than twice for somebody to come and fill my tank. I do it now on my own and I save over $100 every time I need to fill the tank.

Well I have been using riptide for many years but I think the mosquitoes have figured it out. The last 2 years have been terrible. I have a system that sprays 3 times a day and I also use the remote and I still can't keep them away. I have also tried other products and still same result. I was also in the business for 3 years and installed my own system. I have more nozzles in my yard then any of my past customers. Let me know what is working out there. Thanks

Received this very quickly and have been using it in an air fogger sprayer for fly control around horses. This was the most economical product for us to purchase and it appears to be working out well.

QWhat product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly? I live in the woods in Michigan.
What product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly. I live in the woods in Michigan. I use a Stihl SR420 Backpack Blower/Sprayer.
A For long lasting control of mosquitoes we recommend treating with Talstar P using a hand pump sprayer. Spray the underside of leaves of trees and bushes around your property and also treat door frames, window frames, and screens to stop the insects from coming indoors. Treat early morning or in the evening when the mosquitoes are most active for the best control. Riptide would only work well for quick control of flying insects but it does not offer a long lasting residual.

September 1, 2010 Frank asked:
QWill pyrethrin kill bedbugs? What would you suggest?
APyrethrin products only kill bedbugs if you are able to spray the bug directly, and they have no residual control. There is no one product that is appropriate for every area in your home. We have put together Bedbug Kits that feature all of the different products that are required to eliminate bedbugs. Please take a few minutes to look through our bedbug kit page to find a kit that is the right size for your needs. We also recommend using mattress and box spring encasements to help eliminate a current infestation and make future bedbug inspection easier.
February 20, 2011 John asked:
QAre you able to use Riptide in a hand pump container and at what ratio?
ARiptide is really meant to be used in fogging applications, but it can be used in a hand pump sprayer for some uses. You did not mention what you are spraying for or where you will be spraying, so we cannot tell you the proper usage rate you will need to use. You may be able to find the information you are seeking on the Riptide Product Label or you can respond to this email with the needed information. We also carry Pyganic Pro which is a 5% pyrethrin product that is actually formulated and labeled to be used in a hand pump sprayer and may be more what you are looking for.
May 5, 2011 Rick asked:
QCan Riptide be used in a gasoline powered backpack blower sprayer?
The sprayer is not ULV (ultra low volume) but does create a very fine mist spray.
ARiptide can be used in almost any type of sprayer including a backpack blower sprayer like the Solo Backpack Mist/Blower sprayer.

Chris from Miami, Fl asked:
QHow well does Riptide work against ticks?
I am currently struggling with a tick infestation in my yard and I wanted to know how effective Riptide would be against ticks in the yard? I have fogged my garage and indoors, tick medication for my dogs, but they are still coming in on the dogs after they go out to use the bathroom.
Riptide is labeled to kill ticks, as well as various other flying insects. It is a contact kill only and usually applied with a fogger.
An option that is longer lasting is the Tick Control Kit. It contains Permethrin SFR 36.8% and Archer IGR. An IGR is an insect growth regulator. This will stop the ticks from reproducing. The mixing ratio is Archer IGR: 1 fl. oz. Permethrin SFR: .8oz into one gallon of water. Treatments can be done every 14 days until the ticks are eradicated. After that, for regular treatments, spraying every 30 days is enough.

Randy from Millstadt, Il asked:
QHow long is the residual effect of Riptide before it has to be re-applied?
Does it compare to Talstar P or Mosquito Barrier for mosquito application?
A Riptide does not have a residual effect after it is dry. It also is applied using a misting system. Talstar P (Talstar One) has a 30 day residual outdoors and a 90 day residual indoors. Mosquito Barrier kills on contact and has a residual for up to a month. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Randy from Millstadt, Il asked:
QHow long will Riptide last as compared to Talstar P or Mosquito Barrier?
A Riptide is a contact kill only. Talstar P (Talstar One) lasts for 30 days outdoors. Mosquito Barrier can last up to a month. If you are looking for a product with the longest residual, we would recommend using Talstar P (Talstar One). Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Patricia from Boise asked:
Qelm seed beetles
We are besieged with elm seed beetles in Boise. Nothing seems to phase or kill them. Sprays of lemon detergent with a little oil of peppermint chases them for a few minutes then they reappear again. A few show up on fly strips but don't like to use them too much because they also trap bees & lacewings. They are very fond of the maples in my back yard and are showing up on roof since there's a large branch over a portion of it. HELP!!!
A We apologize, but we are unfamiliar with the elm seed beetle. We would suggest that you contact your local cooperative extension office to get the beetle properly identified.

Meg from Austin, Tx asked:
QWe plan on putting this in our existing mosquito misting system. I have a small garden. Is this okay to use?
Is this product okay if it gets sprayed onto our herbs and tomatoes? Thank you.
A No, Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV is not labeled to be used on edibles.
September 19, 2013 Doug asked:
QHow effective is riptide against microscopic biting mites?
A Riptide is not very effective in treating for biting mites. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites. If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

Bill from Pawleys Island, Sc asked:
QCan I put Riptide in an irrigation system injector system?
I ave a 15 gallon injector system I put a rust inhibitor into. Can I put a pyrethrin concentrate into it?
