Beat The Bugs BACK!
By Keith on November 16, 2010
I'm Blessed to live in South Florida where the weather has allowed me to transform my patio into my favorite room. Yep..On a canal, poolside with T.V.,bar, couches (you get the picture). Oh so inviting to everyone...including no-see-ums and veracious mosquitoes that attack in squadron formation. Solution? A misting system that I maintain/refill myself at a fraction...really..1/3..the cost of a commercial contractor...Who often uses the same spray. Riptide 5.0% works so well that I've nearly forgot that the bugs are around. Now if only they would come up with something to get rid of the Iguana's that eat my plants...

Great Product at a great price
By Mike on August 4, 2010
This product contains 5% Pyethrin which is a higher concentration than the 3% you get with other products. That means you can use less and have the same results. A half-gallon of Riptide works the same as one gallon of other products. I saved about $100 by using domyownpestcontrol.com versus the product from my spray system manufacturer. Thank you!

Filled order very quickly. Need to be more clear as to how much you are receiving, thought I was getting two half gallons or one gallon for the price. Possibly my mistake but add said half gallons (plural ) but now I know and would not hesitate to order from them again unless I find a better price.

Not effective for Tick Control
By Hugo on July 17, 2012
When I read about this product, it said is also used for Ticks. Well, so far it has not been effective as I thought. I have used product often since purchase and I'm still trying to fight ticks. Please, advice if there is something stronger than this product and particularly used for ticks?

So Far, So Good
By JK on June 27, 2012
I've used Sector, Eco Exempt MC and now Riptide. By far, I prefer Riptide. Sector worked well but not as effective as the Riptide. Had nozzle clogging problems with Eco Exempt MC and it didn't even phase the rabid Florida mosquitoes. Go for the Riptide. If it works well in Florida, it should work well just about anywhere...
Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV
By Gwen on June 11, 2012
We've used this product for the past 5 years and achieved excellent results. We reviewed the products and chose this one because of the 5.0% concentration. We use the product in an auto mister that is attached to the fence and circles the backyard. With outdoor entertaining, this product has been a life saver. You can actually enjoy sitting out at night and enjoying the pool. We tried another product a couple of years ago, just to see if the cheaper price product would work the same. Ofcourse, the results were not the same and we immediately ordered the Riptide. It certainly deserves 5 stars!
Awesome for ant control
By Michael on June 7, 2012
Mixed a small amount of Riptide with water in a spray bottle, clearly labelled it, and then sprayed along ant path. Killed ants instantly and they didn't come back. We have had ant infestation every year but this year I decided to stop it. Pirythrin is miracle cure. With this i don't need anything else; those stupid ant boxes the "pros" sold us never worked; all my neighbors want to hire me to stop their ants. No ants in my honey anymore.
is a good product

QCan I use Riptide in a fogger?
ARiptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV is specifically formulated for use in foggers and misting systems. You can read more about how to properly use this product by reading the Riptide product label.
April 23, 2010 John asked:
QWhat product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly? I live in the woods in Michigan.
What product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly. I live in the woods in Michigan. I use a Stihl SR420 Backpack Blower/Sprayer.
A For long lasting control of mosquitoes we recommend treating with Talstar P using a hand pump sprayer. Spray the underside of leaves of trees and bushes around your property and also treat door frames, window frames, and screens to stop the insects from coming indoors. Treat early morning or in the evening when the mosquitoes are most active for the best control. Riptide would only work well for quick control of flying insects but it does not offer a long lasting residual.

September 1, 2010 Frank asked:
QWill pyrethrin kill bedbugs? What would you suggest?
APyrethrin products only kill bedbugs if you are able to spray the bug directly, and they have no residual control. There is no one product that is appropriate for every area in your home. We have put together Bedbug Kits that feature all of the different products that are required to eliminate bedbugs. Please take a few minutes to look through our bedbug kit page to find a kit that is the right size for your needs. We also recommend using mattress and box spring encasements to help eliminate a current infestation and make future bedbug inspection easier.
February 20, 2011 John asked:
QAre you able to use Riptide in a hand pump container and at what ratio?
ARiptide is really meant to be used in fogging applications, but it can be used in a hand pump sprayer for some uses. You did not mention what you are spraying for or where you will be spraying, so we cannot tell you the proper usage rate you will need to use. You may be able to find the information you are seeking on the Riptide Product Label or you can respond to this email with the needed information. We also carry Pyganic Pro which is a 5% pyrethrin product that is actually formulated and labeled to be used in a hand pump sprayer and may be more what you are looking for.
June 2, 2010 F. asked:
QCan I use Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV for fly control on cattle with a portable sprayer ?
The product is marketed for misting systems. I would like to try it in the field with a sprayer. Will that work ?
AAccording to the Riptide label you can use just a pump sprayer to treat cattle "To protect beef and dairy cattle and horses from Horn Flies, House Flies, Mosquitoes and Gnats, dilute 1 part concentrate with 49 parts water, mix well and apply a light mist sufficient to wet the tips of the hair. To control Stable Flies, Horse Flies and Deer Flies on animals apply 2 fluid ounces per adult animal, sufficient to wet the hair but not to soak the hide. Repeat treatment once or twice daily or at intervals to give continued protection."

Justin from Billerica,ma asked:
Qcan riptide be mixed with something with a longer residual effect such as onslaught?
Would it be ok to mix riptide with something like onslaught which has a longer residual effect. I usually use a gas powered fogger to treat wooded areas for mosquito's and ticks.
AUnfortunately most pyrethroids like Onslaught can not be used in a fogger. Most pyrethroids can only be used in a sprayer as the risk of the product drifting is too great.

John from Florence Al. asked:
QWill Riptide kill bed bugs?
ARiptide should only be used to control bedbugs in poultry houses. Riptide is not labeled, nor should it be used for the species of bedbugs that infests human residences. Fogging applications do not work well for bedbugs in homes. Please see our Bedbug product page for products that are labeled for use in homes.

Kalpesh from Orange, Connecticut asked:
QCan i use this product for small business?
I have 2500 sqft grocery store, there are lots of rice bags, dry fruits, nuts, flour bags, dry beans, spices, ready snacks, wheat bags and many more food products and also there is small daily inside too, rice bags, flour bags and dry fruits bags has small live bugs inside of the bag and out side of the bags, should i use this product to get rid for that bugs?
ARiptide can be used by a small business as long as you follow the product label. Riptide can be used to help control exposed insects. You cannot spray the food itself, just the storage containers and storage area. Please refer to the Riptide product label to be sure this product will fit your needs.
June 7, 2012 Tom asked:
QCan Riptide be used with a propane type fogger?
ARiptide is a water-based product and would not work in a propane or thermal fogger. You will need an oil based product to use in the propane fogger such as Shockwave or ULD BP-300. Be sure to read the product labels located in the product description pages at the links provided to make sure these products will fit your needs.

Carol from Atlanta, Ga asked:
QCan riptide be used to kill moths in the attic? Is so, what concentration and what frequency to get best kill?
We have a large attic with moth infestation. It is difficult to access the entire attic for spraying. I have tried several different pesticides including foggers. We also have some wool-based insulation. I would like to find something that is easy to use and effective. Can you please recommend product, concentration and use frequency to ensure kill?
ARiptide can be used in an attic to help eliminate moths that are exposed at the time of of the application. Riptide should be used in a fogging machine such as the Fogmaster Micro Jet ULV or the B&G Ultra Lite Fogger ULV M2400. According to the Riptide product label you can apply Riptide undiluted: Close room and shut off all air conditioning or ventilating equipment. Apply at the rate of 1/2 to 1 fluid ounce concentrate per 1,000 cubic feet of space. Direct spray towards ceiling and upper corners of room. Leave room closed for 1/2 hour and ventilate thoroughly before re-entry. You can re-apply Riptde every few days if needed. It is very important to identify the type of moth you have and then to track down the source of the moths so that it can be removed or cleaned. Without finding the source of the infestation you will likely continue to see new moths.

Betty from Albuquerque, Nm asked:
QWhat are the inactive or inert ingredients in this product?
Are your inert ingredients safe for skin contact on humans and dogs? Can I add the Riptide to shampoo to wash the dogs? Would there be any side effects from the pyrethrin or its inert ingredients?
AThe inert ingredient part of a product is a trade secret and not disclosed to anybody. Riptide is not labeled for use on dogs or humans and should not be utilized for this type of treatment. We do not carry any products that can be used on humans. We do carry Tick Block which is labeled for use on clothing (cannot be used directly on skin). We also carry Permethrin SFR which is labeled for use on dogs. Please take a few moments to read the product labels that are available at the links provided in this answer (product label links are under the pictures of the products on each product page).
May 5, 2011 Rick asked:
QCan Riptide be used in a gasoline powered backpack blower sprayer?
The sprayer is not ULV (ultra low volume) but does create a very fine mist spray.
ARiptide can be used in almost any type of sprayer including a backpack blower sprayer like the Solo Backpack Mist/Blower sprayer.
November 13, 2010 Connie asked:
QWhat spray do you recommend for a roach infestation?
ARiptide is a great "fogging" solution, but it does require ULV fogger equipment that can be quite expensive. If you do not have a ULV fogger then we would recommend our best and most popular solution which is our Roach Control Kit #2. It comes with the main products that are used by professional companies and has a very high success rate.
August 26, 2010 Mary asked:
QHow long is the residual effect of Riptide 5.0% in a baseball field for mosquitoes?
ARiptide 5.0% will only kill mosquitoes while it is wet, but it also has a slight repellent quality that will help keep new mosquitoes away for up to a day. Having said that the product is not labeled as a repellent and should not be expected to work as a repellent.
August 16, 2010 Woody asked:
QIs Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV EPA approved to spray around boat marinas?
We have a pest control company spray once a month and only kill spiders. We need something to kill mosquitoes and flying insects.
ANo. Riptide cannot be used around boat marinas. Riptide contains pyrethrins which is toxic to aquatic animals and cannot be used around the water. There is only one product on the market that can be used around bodies of water and that is Eco Exempt MC. Many boat marinas have started using this product in misting systems to keep the mosquitoes and gnats away. Please read through the Eco Exempt MC product label and supplemental label to see if this product will fit your needs.
