Cockroach Bait Gel Placement Guide
Gentrol Point Source is a special Roach control device that contains the Gentrol Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) hydroprene for 90-day control of roaches. Activating Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet. That way pests never need to come in contact with the device. One to two weeks after application, you will begin to see roaches with crinkled wings, showing the initial effects of the IGR. These roaches cannot reproduce. All the benefits of an insect growth regulator in a discreet, non-spray formulation. Box of 20 units.
Place the GENTROL POINT SOURCE devices in areas where roach activity has been observed. These areas include: in and around cabinets, closets, pantries, drawers, refuse areas, electrical boxes, equipment, and false ceilings. Also, place around doors, expansion joints, pipe chases, dressers, windows, heating and air conditioning ducts, refrigerators, and voids where pests are active.

Buy this, whatever you do! It works!

I can't rave enough about this stuff! I have 2 small children and seeing roaches on their bottles made me cringe! I bought this Roach Control Kit along with Maxforce 72 pack Bait Stations and I saw a few roaches in 3 days & none, yes none, in a week! I used to think reps wrote these reviews but I am an actual customer and praise these products! I still do 2 AM spot checks in the kitchen and no more roach parties! I still can't believe the roaches are actually gone! A true blessing!

Go for it, you won't regret
By Sam on March 31, 2009I couldn't find enough reviews to help decide whether to buy it or not. I called one of the pest control companies to ask for a normal quote, and they asked for $125 for the first visit and $85 for any subsequent visit (a total of $635 in a year). So I made up my mind and decided to go for it (the Roach Control Kit #1). I applied the gel exactly as the directions said. I also placed the birth controls (Gentrol Point Source) in their proper places, and immediately after that I started seeing the big moms with their capsules on their backs. I got rid of them the same moment I saw them. In less than two weeks, I can assure you that my house is free of roaches. I know how it feels to have German roaches almost everywhere in your house. Make sure you have enough tubes. For example, it took me 4 tubes to fully apply to almost every possible roach spot in my 2-bed 2-bath apartment. I don't want to leave any chance for the roaches to get back to my apartment. Put more in the dark places and in the kitchen, also make sure you apply something beneath the carpets. Also, check the places where you put it in after 4 days and get rid of the dead roaches. My advice, $57.90 wont hurt your budget, but definitely will hurt the roaches.

Easy to use and effective
By David on November 4, 2008

The 20 Gentrol Point Source stations with IGR were very easy to activate and easy to place throughout my apartment. The convenient adhesive pads made placing the stations on vertical surfaces also quite easy. These stations along with the 4 syringes of gel are an effective control system for my cockroach problem. I highly recommend Roach Control Kit #1.

Good Stuff

I received the order quickly and followed the instructions provided. The quantity of the product was more than enough for multiple applications. I have not seen any of the smaller (German) roaches since I applied the product primarily in the kitchen and bathrooms. Have enough left to reapply again in the event they return. Very satisfied.

Roach control Kit #1
By Robert on September 7, 2010

I bought this for a friend who moved into a new apartment with a roach problem. I bought this kit years ago (5 or 6), and I have not seen a roach since! It takes a couple of months for it to get them all, (you can see it work, the roaches born have crinkly wings) they are sterile so no new roaches are born! Once they're gone, that's it. I tried poisons, and they killed the ones you see, but it NEVER gets them all! This really works! It's great you will be amazed at how good it works! My name it Robert, and I strongly recommend this product!

Read all the reviews on the products you sell. Paid terminex for a year, never got rid of the roaches, somebody told me moth balls & boric acid to use that didn't work either. I bombed my house twice & still didn't work. Googled it online & seen this my husband said doesn't hurt to try so I ordered it put the gel everywhere in the house & the white pucks out too. They are still around but not too bad. I have to purchase more gel. Thank you so much for this great product.

finally the nightmare is over.

After reading many of the reviews and research I had purchase the roach kit #1. We have lived (my son and I) in our apartment for 3 years and during the time we have been there the problem with the german roaches have increased. We have addressed this issue with our landlord/owner several times and the problem continue to increase and not been resolved by landlord nor owner. During the summer the roaches increased by numbers and then, when the apartment next to us, caught on fire and abandon, the roaches next door join forces with ours to make the nightmare even worse. Then I found the domyownpestcontrol website and decided to go for it. I research on youtube about the advion gel and was amazed how well it worked. After reading the many reviews here I was convinced to buy it. When the product arrived, I immediately started putting the gel everywhere there was a infestation (after thoroughly cleaning the kitchen where they are based at). The next day, I noticed several amount of dead or walking dead roaches on the floor. I would like to say the product is a great investment to getting rid of a roach infestative nightmare. I am very pleased with it and will use this website to buy more of the gel.

Thank God....15 years of misery ended....

This is not a fake review. I'm a real mom terrified to use pesticides around my small children. For 15 years we have suffered a roach infestation and though I tried a lot of different items (including many pesticides!) nothing really worked. We even bombed the entire house only to walk back in and see them crawling around like they owned the place. Finally I found this website and bought this product. I didn't even use the Gentrol, just the Advion. I can't believe what happened. I only put a few little dots out so I could see if it worked at all before I laid out $60 of product only to be disappointed again. All night long the first night, I would sneak into the kitchen with a flashlight and every spot was covered with roaches. They didn't just eat it. They STRADDLED it. I kept replenishing the spots and even put new spots out. The roaches wouldn't even move while I was adding to their feed pile! Just one little dot here and there. I monitored it like this for about a week and soon learned where the "hot spots" were. Every day I swept the floor. Not a lot on the floor, just 10 or 15 or 20. But we swept the floor several times a day! I took a long time to write this review because I really didn't believe they wouldn't come back. I still don't quite believe it but it's been about 6 months. Here's some really good news....I only used one tube. No kidding, I still have 3 tubes left! I not only recommend this product, I will call you a MORON if you don't buy it. What a wonderful roach-free home we have now. I even leave food out on the counter at night sometimes and never fear.

Excellent Purchase

I've never dealt with a roach problem but when my boyfriend and I moved into a new apartment we found the little buggers had set up some sort of German Roach Club Med in the kitchen. Lights on, lights off, food present or not, they didn't care. They loved it here. We had a professional company come out to spray and for several weeks we lived bug-free. Then one night I was cooking dinner and saw a bold one run across the counter and later that night found more in the bathroom and bedroom (near the bed, no less). They were back. I was so grossed out that I immediately got online to research my options. After reading several reviews I decided to purchase the #1 Control Kit. As soon as it arrived I set to work putting out the Advion. I found it super easy to use. Unscrew the plastic stopper cap, screw on the needlenose applicator, insert the plunger and you're good to go. It's really easy to control the amount of product that is dispensed and there is more than enough product included in the kit. I would recommend having a napkin handy to wipe up any excess buildup off the applicator, just in case. Also, I would suggest rinsing out the applicator in between uses...I didn't do so the first time and the product had dried solid and took a bit of coaxing to get free. We are going to be getting a cat soon so rather than placing the Advion directly on the baseboards I put out index cards with the bait on it so I can just pick them up later. I put it everywhere: cracks in the cupboards, around the diswasher, under the stove, behind the fridge...everywhere. I also set out several Gentrol disks in various places. I wasn't sure whether Gentrol was safe to come into contact with our dishes so I stuck to putting it under the sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms. Fast forward three weeks: No sightings until I found one half-dead roach. I immediately put more Advion in the area where I found it (after completely smooshing him, of course) and, fingers crossed, no issues since. I will continue to refresh the Advion every week or so just to make sure. Since then? No bug sightings anywhere. I continue to check everywhere, constantly, because the thought of finding roaches grosses me out but so far that one lone roach was the only one we've seen. Maybe the professional spraying we had first worked? It must have for a bit but obviously didn't fix the problem, as we were still seeing the roaches several weeks later. Maybe our infestation wasn't as bad as other people have experienced? I sincerely hope not. Either way this product gives me peace of mind, it works and I will gladly recommend it to anyone. I also can't say enough good things about Do My Own Pest Control. This was my first experience with them and while I hope our bug problem is a thing of the past I will definitely return if it turns out I need more product. My order was shipped incredibly fast and packaged well. All in all it was a great experience. Thank you so much!

Great Kit
By Rhonda on February 6, 2013We bought this last year and it worked so well we wanted to buy another to keep on hand. We have bought other products in the past that worked for a little while and I don't know if roaches get amuned but the other stuff just wasn't working any longer. After 2 days you could see the difference - dead roaches, didn't know they were that bad until you see the dead ones laying. I would recommend to anyone with roach problems.

Chicken or the Egg

I had a really bad infestation at my last apatment and in my car & I was terrified that I would bring them with me to my new place. I did the best I could but I ended up with roaches in my new place too. Whether I brought them or they were already here I can't say for sure. The landlord was 'sympathetic' but hardly willing to go the extra mile. So I pulled out my comfy chair, learned everything I could about the critters and ended up here. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, baited and hung the IDR's a month ago. I didn't have a large infestation but I've only seen two since with no 'help' from the landlord's contracted agency. And the car seems to be clear as well. As per this website, sanitation is key so since I scrubbed and then baited and continue to scrub daily I can't be entirely sure if it is the product that sent them away or the lack of food/water. Either way I'm grateful and will be reapplying every three months as recommended anyway. P.S. The plunger it came with worked just fine. No need to spend the extra $ on the special applicator.

October 22, 2009Beata asked:
QHow can I be sure if the Roach Control Kit 1 will help?
Where and how should I be applying the products in the Roach Control Kit 1? Is this kit safe for babies and pets?
AAll of our products are the same effective products that a professional company would use but without the high cost. The effectiveness of the Roach Control Kit and the results you get all depend on how well you apply the products. Each product in the roach kit comes with full instructions that explain where and how to use it in detail. Along with using the products you also have to exercise a high level of cleanliness and leave no crumbs or water out at night or else the roach gel in the kit will not work. All of the products are very safe to use around children and pets when used correctly. We are always happy to answer any questions or address any concerns Mon-Fri at 866-581-7378.
November 23, 2010Cuddy asked:
QIs there a can of fogger that you can get to spray into small areas such as cupboards for a cockroach problem?
ANo. Canned fogging products require a lot more space for applications and would not be an appropriate choice for treating inside a cupboard. You do have other options that would work very well. The most commonly used approach in cupboards is roach bait gel. You can use a roach bait gel like Advion and put small dots about every 12 inches directly in the cracks and crevices and around the door hinges. Gel works best in this situation because the roaches will eat the gel and return to the nesting area and spread the gel to the other roaches, eliminating many roaches instead of just the ones that came into contact with the gel. The other option would be to use an aerosol insecticide such as D-Force HPX or Cy-Kick. Both of these come with a straw attachment that you could use to get into all of the cracks and crevices. The drawback here is that you must completely empty out the cupboard for the application and only the roaches that come into contact with the treated area will die. We would also recommend using an IGR like Gentrol Point source for best results. IGRs (insect growth regulators) interrupt the life cycle of juvenile roaches and will help stop the breeding cycle while you are trying to get rid of the infestation. We have put together a roach kit that contains both the Advion and the Gentrol that will help save you a few dollars.
August 26, 2012Amanda from Vanceburg, Ky asked:
QWhat is a really good spray for German cockroaches?
I have german cock roaches bad like really bad and i have use raid sprays from the store but they dont work as well. i had a guy come in one time and spray my house it killed the roaches in like two days. he never told me what is was but it is like a brownish color on the wall and you can spray it every where. when the bug spray dry it was a white powder you could sweep it right up. would love to find this or a product that works as well as it did.need to get them gone soon. please help
AWe think the product that may have been used was Demon WP. We think Demon WP works very well as part of a roach control program. In fact we have included Demon WP in our Roach Control Kit #2 which also includes the other products you will need to really get rid of the roaches.
August 23, 2011Katrina from Sioux City, Ia asked:
QWill spraying ExciteR and Onslaught work alone to kill roaches?
I live in a duplex and when my neighbors moved in they brought roaches with them and waited almost a year to do anything about it. The roaches are now in my apartment, my landlord has hired an exterminator who is spraying ExciteR and Onslaught every two weeks. I don't think they are using an IGR in the mix, and they aren't using a bait. The roaches in my apartment seem to be getting worse not better. So my real question is if I get some gel bait and an IGR would that help to kill the roaches in my apartment and the ones downstairs in the neighbors apartment? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
AWe definitely think you will benefit from adding a roach bait and and insect growth regulator to your roach control program. Our Roach Control Kit #1 contains both of the products you will need to achieve better roach control in your apartment. We also recommend trying seal as many cracks and crevices as possible around the perimeter of each room to help stop having roaches move from one apartment to another.
July 9, 2012Ashley from Orlando,fl asked:
QI have a cat that eats roaches he has already been sick from ingesting. We have used the ortho home defense.
My cat has already been poisoned is your product safe if he ingests a roach that has been poisoned with the bait or spray.
AWe would be really hesitant to recommend any product for you if your cat was negatively effected by a different product already. In your case it may be a better idea to use a pheromone baited glue traps so that the roaches can not be consumed by your cat.
January 24, 2013Courtney from Long Beach, Ca asked:
QIs the Roach Control Kit okay to use if I have only seen two roaches?
Just moved into an apartment. Manager stated apartment had been empty for three months. Once I moved in I found 10-12 dead roaches in the kitchen and 3-5 in the bathroom. I cleaned them all out and have been in the apartment about a week. I ordered the "Roach Control Kit #1" as soon as I moved in. It just arrived yesterday and so far I have been in the apartment a week and have only seen 2 alive roaches (both in kitchen). I have yet to unpack the kitchen as I wanted to do bug control first so I bleached everything down and left the cabinets and drawers bare.
My question is...
Since I have only seen two live roaches will I be attracting more roaches by using the roach control kit? Should I not put down the bait and gentrol? I don't want to make my problem worse.
AYou can use the Roach Control Kit#1 even if you have only seen a couple of roaches. You should limit the amount of bait you place and only put it in the rooms where you have seen activity. The Gentrol Point Source can be invaluable to a roach control program and can be used year round to control any invading roaches and stop breeding before it starts. Place one out for every 75 sq ft in your apartment.
