    Q
What happenes if a non-target species consumes a rodent poisoned with Bromethalin?
    A
Rats that have eaten the bait and then die should be removed and disposed of if they are found. Animals that eat exposed carcasses will usually have to eat many carcasses before they receive enough bait to have a reaction, but a secondary poisoning is possible. Bromethalin is a neurotoxin and there is no antidote if a nontarget animal consumes the bait.  If you have children or pets, it is recommended that you use a bait containing Bromadiolone, such as Contrac Blox, since every doctor and vet has the antidote, which is Vitamin K1.

    Q
How do I get rid of rats at a house where we spend about 6 days a month?
My mom lives with us, but we go to her house one or two weekends a month. The neighborhood has rats, but we hadn't had a problem for almost a year.
    A

We would recommend using our Rodent Baiting Kit. It comes with the bait and bait stations to put around the home. Be sure to check the bait every couple of weeks to see whether or not it should be replaced.

We would also recommend taking a look at our Rat Guide. It has useful tips on how to treat and prevent rats.

    Q
Will the Rodent Baiting Kit prevent rodents from living in the alley next to my home?
There is an alley adjacent to my house that has become victim of illegal bumping which has since become a nesting ground for rodents. I want to clean the alley but would first like to kill or divert the rodents living there without having them come in to my home. What products do you recommend?
    A

For mice/rats, there are various methods that can be used to keep them out of your home and excluding them from the area. The first option, so that they do not come indoors, would be to use copper mesh in any holes where they could possibly get in to.

We do also have our Rodent Baiting Kit. It comes with bait that the rodents consume and bait stations. These can be placed outside in the alley. They should be refilled as needed.

Please also check out our Rodent Guide as well. It has various tips on how to get rid of rodents and keeping them out of the area.

    Q
What product would you recommend for treating roof rats in a large building?
We have an old Armory building that was recently refinished. We rent this building to the public. The ceilings are over 20 feet tall and I have noticed rat droppings on the floor in numerous areas. The building also has rooms outside of the auditorium that have regular ceilings. I would like to know what you recommend to control these roof rats.
    A

We have a great guide here that can help with getting rid of roof rats.  Inside, it is recommended to use snap traps or glueboards, along with  sealing all cracks and crevices outside, and using our Rodent Baiting Kit outside for further control.

    Q
Where do the rats usually go to die when using the Rodent Baiting Kit?
    A

When using the Rodent Baiting Kit  the rodent will ingest the bait and within a couple days die. We recommend baiting outdoors to promote death outdoors. After bait ingestion, rodents can die anywhere.

    Q
Will squirrels get in, eat the bait, and die with the Rodent Baiting Kit?
    A

When using the Rodent Baiting Kit, squirrels may have access to the baits that will be located in there, however, most rodent baits are not labeled for squirrels. So the likelihood of this happening is very slim.

    Q
What is the best way to get rid of rats in the attic and under the house?
    A

For rodents inside it is best to use snap traps and glueboards so you can control where they are going to die.  You should also seal up all cracks and crevices outside that are allowing them access to inside.  Using tamper resistant bait stations with a rodenticide outside would also help if they are coming and going. Our Rodent Baiting Kit would be a good option.  We have some guides below that can help as well
