This is a great product, but follow directions carefully. Be aware that when it rains, this product will migrate and move with the flow of water. This is not like RoundUp, it kills everything that has emerged and pre-emergent plants. This is perfect for fence lines, around barns and out buildings. Much better than reapplying RoundUp over and over again. I had one area that was flat and not much worry about movement with water, so I over applied and it has been bare ground now for 3 full summers, and I don't know how long it will keep working. Areas where I applied as instructed, it easily lasts a full year.

Pre-Emergent for long term
By Bob in Scottsville, VA on August 25, 2011
Excellent delivery speed. Easy to use and store. Good coverage for the price. Only problem is not the product, but the fact that it recommends a MSO as a surfactant. These are not easy to find, even in my rural agricultural area. Probably used by the major Agribusiness types, but not the small independents. Destiny-HC is best fit, but didn't want a pallet. Finally settled on a Methylated vegetable oil. Should work ok. Some non-ionic are acceptable, but others not so. An internal link recommending surfactant to buy would be good.

Weed Controle Cleburne
By Jimmy in Cleburne TX on April 19, 2012
Every year we are faced with a growing weed problem. This is due to the surrounding fields and areas out side of our control. The Sahara DG Herbicide make the job of controlling the weed population much easyer with the one time spray and the unforgiving results to the weeds. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs to completely clear an area from weeds or other vegetation. I can only stress that you read the instructions very carefully to make sure you use this product as instructed. Thank you

Better Than Roundup!
By Jack in Madisonville, KY on April 19, 2012
This is a great bareground herbicide and from personally using this product for the past 5 yrs. I can say it is better at controlling weeds and unwanted vegetation all year long than Roundup or any glyphosate-based herbicide on the market today. Amazingly, it costs the same or less! This merchant provides a great description of the product. Shipping was fast and the cost was fair. They had plenty of stock available and I would definately use this merchant again.

By David in aurora In. on April 8, 2014
we love this stuff...the only product we have used that kills vegetation for a whole year (or more) one warning do not use in wind...any wind...the over spray will kill anything in its path (we spray early am or late evening when it is calm) use sparingly on hillsides ...with rain it will leach into the down hill soil and kill more than you may have wanted...we are sold on this product !

Purchased this product because I was tired of using roundup every couple of months. I applied sahara 1 week ago and it seems to be working as is advertised (slow acting ,growth is still dying). Grass and weeds on my fence line are still dying and I applied the 2nd half of my 10 lb. bag today (to the rest of my fence line If I do not Have to wack weeds or apply more herbicide between now and the end of fall I will be buying more Sahara next spring. Reserving 5th star until results are final.

Robert from Vermilion Ohio asked:
QHow is Sahara DG applied?
ASahara is a dispersible granule that needs to be mixed with water and a surfactant and then applied as a spray solution. For spot or crack and crevice treatments you will need to mix 0.5 lb- 1.0 lb with one gallon of water + 1/3 of an ounce of surfactant. For more specific usage instructions please take a few moments to read the Sahara product label.

Roland from Peru Il asked:
QAm I required to use a surfactant with Sahara DG?
Does Sahara has to use surfactant? If so, can we use "Kinetic Nonionic Surfactant" or is there other you could suggest.
ASahara DG does require you to use a surfactant. The Kinetic Surfactant would work very well with Sahara DG.

Bill from Tyler,texas asked:

Barb from Malden, Mo asked:
QWhat is the best time of year to spray Sahara? Application would be cracks in asphalt.
AAccording to page 3 of the Sahara DG Herbicide product label "For annual weed control Sahara may be applied either preemergence or postemergence to the weeds; however, a late preemergence to early post emergence is the best method of choice in most situations. For perennial weed control Sahara is only effective when applied postemergence and will not control perennial weeds that are not emerged at the time of the application".
October 22, 2014 John asked:

A Sahara will work in gravel driveways. Due to the fact that Sahara drifts we recommend to contact the manufacturer for advise with your specific treatment. Please contact BASF at 1-800-526-1072.

Dave from Bassett Nebraska asked:
QWill limestone neutralize this product?
We have been using Sahara DG on what is known as the Cowboy Trail here in Nebraska. We have been using it for several years with pretty much poor results. The trail has a limestone surface.
A We are unsure of the effects of limestone on the efficacy of the Sahara DG Herbicide. We would recommend you contact the manufacturer, BASF at 800-526-1072.

Terry from Champaign, Illinois asked:
QRain after Sahara application?
I recently applied Sahara to some fencelines. About 6 hours later we had an unexpected thunderstorm. Will the Sahara still be effective or will I need to reapply?
A Sahara DG Herbicide should be watered in 1 inch by irrigation or rainfall after application so the rain shouldn't effect the product if it was too much and it was applied based on your annual rainfall amounts as directed on the product label. The concern is that the rain could have caused runoff into other areas that you did not want Sahara to effect and may sterlize the surrounding soil.

Frank from Newport News Va asked:
QWill Sahara DG kill Phyllostachys or Running Bamboo
I'm trying to eradicate a bamboo invasion it is Pyllostachys aurea or Golden Bamboo, will this product work and if so is there any special technique to use?
A Sahara DG is only labeled to kill Japanese Bamboo per the product label. You can use Round Up QuickPro at the highest listed usage rate to help eliminate bamboo. You will be required to cut the bamboo down to a short stump and then apply the Round Up QuickPro. It can take several applications to achieve the desired results

Mike from Phoenix, Az asked:
QWhat is the recommended product to kill weeds in AZ as well as keep them from coming back?
I was looking to apply a pre-emergent/weed killer product to my property to kill existing weeds and prevent new ones from cropping up (usually after a rainfall). My neighbors have a service come over once a year to apply something to their property and I'd like to find a good product that I can apply myself. The properties are desert landscaped with rocks and I have the occasional tree/bush as well as some cactus. I have dogs that run in the backyard and get pickers in their feet as a result of one specific type of weed so I want to keep them from sprouting as well as apply a product that is dog safe once it dries.
One of our most popular products for weed control in the AZ region is Weed Impede. Depending on what type of weeds you are treating for you would mix 1.5 oz -3 oz per 1,000 sq ft. Please call us at 866-581-7378 with any questions.

Mc from Nevada asked:
QHow long does Sahara last? The description says "some time" but nothing more than that.
A Sahara is a bare ground herbicide which provides you with both pre and post emergent control of any and all vegetation for at least a full season/year. Results will vary with area, soil types, application and environment. Some customer receive control for 1 year while others much longer. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Rusty from Queen Creek Az. asked:
Qused sahara for the first time to get full coverage the 10# bag mixed it 15 gal sprayer that was to do 1ac
only did a few hundred feet. on bare ground should it turn white for full coverage?
When mixed as recommended on the product label, it is then up to the applicator to make sure the recommended amount is spread evenly over the acre. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of Sahara for further advice. You can reach BASF by calling 800-526-1072.

Steve from Decatur, Illinois asked:
QIs a special application license required to apply Sahara DG Herbicide?
A Normally as long as you are not using the product on a property other than your own, and are not doing it for profit a license is not needed. However, we are not sure of all regulations in every state and county and we recommend contacting your local Department of Agriculture for your states restrictions. Also, we highly recommended contacting the manufacturer before using this product as usage should be used with extreme caution due to possible leaching in the soil. You can reach BASF at 1-800-526-1072.
