Maggie from Houston, Tx writes

Scale infestation on Japanese Blueberry trees.

I have a scale infestation on my Japanese blueberry trees. I first noticed black over the leaves so I sprayed with Neem oil. Then I had bees and huge flies on the trees then the leaves began to fall off. I keep spraying with Neem oil and I bought this from youhttp://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/fertilome-tree-and-shrub-systemic-insect-drench-gallon-p-1973.html Will this work? Should I try something stronger? The trees were big, beautiful, and full and now they are terrible with no leaves. Thanks

Answer:

The Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled to be used on blueberry trees. We would not recommend using something off label. We do have products that are labeled for use on blueberries but not one that is labeled to treat for scale. We would recommend speaking with your local cooperative extension office on a recommendation for Japanese blueberry trees. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
