This flashlight lasts for only a few uses before the three AA batteries (triangle configuration) have to be replaced. Even with fresh batteries this flashlight still has to be shaken or smacked against the palm of your hand to get it to work—it dims randomly. The flashlight does shine brightly when it functions properly. I would agree with the product description that “this professional version is more rugged and durable then less expensive lights...” and the flashlight does have a nice solid weight and comfortable grip. However, none of this matters since its functionality is so flaky.

Not what I expected
By Jim in Mesa, Az. on 07/10/2014
It does the job ok I guess, but for the money, I expected a little more out of it. The one at Home Depot works just as well for half the price.

An unhappy home inspector...
By Thomas in Chicagoland, IL on 10/07/2014
A dim review of the Scorpion Hunter Reveal UV Flashlight. While it helped me identify the cat urine stains on the carpet it was NOT easy to use. I didn’t realize the battery-pack was the 3-battery triangle configuration which is notoriously glitchy. Even after I replaced the batteries I still had to shake it periodically or hit it against my other hand to obtain full brightness. What a pain. I’ve had flashlights with this battery configuration before and many of them had this same problem. Other than that it worked well (when it worked) and felt nice and solid in your hand. It was plenty bright at night in low light from other sources and with all lights off it works great and I never had to use yellow goggles to see the urine. I think it is over priced especially because of the problems I had with it. This would have been a better flashlight if the design was an in-line, 3-battery configuration. I wish the description stated what the battery configuration was because I would have continued looking. Regrettably, An unhappy home inspector.

QWhat is the price difference between the scorpion flashlights?
Why is this flashlight so much more expensive than the other one you offer? Is there something different about this one? Also, do you have to use goggles to use the flashlights? Thanks!
AThese two flashlights are made by two different manufacturers and the prices are set by those manufacturers. We have no control on the price. You do not need goggles to use the flashlights. The more expensive light does have a longer handle, more like a traditional flashlight and the less expensive model is a short handled flashlight.
QWill the Scorpion Hunter UV Flashlight work for different species of scorpions?
Hello, there are different species of scorpions, the ones I'm having trouble with are about 2" long and dark brown. Will the Scorpion Hunter UV flashlight work with them or just the blond ones?
AThe Scorpion Hunter UV Flashlight will work with any type of scorpion according to the manufacturer.
