What is Sethoxydim?

Sethoxydim is the active ingredient found in Over The Top II Grass Killer. It is a member of a group of selective post-emergent herbicides, meaning that it only targets specific plants and should be applied after the target plants have emerged from the ground. Target plants include annual and perennial grass weeds in fruit, vegetable, field, and ornamental crops.

Formulations

Sexothydim is available in emulsifiable concentrates. For maximum effectiveness, this chemical chould be used in conjuction with an oil adjuvant or nonionic surfacant.
 

Sethoxydim Mode of Action

Sethoxydim kills target plants and grasses by putting a stop to lipid synthesis.  It has very little impact on woody plants and broadleaf herbs.

Sethoxydim Uses

Manufacturers of sethoxydim advertise its use in the control of crabgrass, downy brome bahiagrass, wild oats, annual ryegrass and witchgrasses.

Sethoxydim Toxicity

This chemical is in the EPA toxicity class III - meaning that it is Slightly Toxic. Products containing sethoxydim must carry the word "Caution" on the label. Sethoxydim has a low toxicity to birds and moderate toxicity to trout and other fish.
