Should I get rid of potential nests before baiting?

I had Orkin come out to my house a few days ago (their prices are what prompted me to find your site). Their inspector noticed that I hadn't cleaned out my gutters yet and said they could be housing a carpenter any nest. I just bought you ant control kit #1, should I wait to clean out my gutters until after I've baited?

Answer:

Anytime you can directly treat a carpenter ant nest with a fast knockdown product, you should. Baiting is a great tool if you can't find the nest or if there are multiple nests.
