Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait has the active ingredient, metaflumizone that will control fire ants. Siesta contains a sodium-blocker that is formulated from soybean oil and corn grit and is the only product which does not require metabolism for bioactiviation. This active ingredient is long lasting and has fast control of imported and native fire ants. It works as a broadcast treatment to control foraging ants as well as those on the mound. Siesta is recommended to be applied when temperatures are above 60 degrees in the early morning or late afternoon. This is when ants are the most active. Applications should be avoided in wet conditions or when rain or irrigation is expected within 12 hours.

Comes in three sizes: 1.5 lb jug, 2 lb jug, and 15 lb bag

Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait is the only sodium blocker Insecticide that does not require metabolism for bioactivation. It acts on the nervous system, where it blocks the voltage dependent sodium neuron channel. Ants will soon stop feeding, start becomming immobile and then eventually die.

Chemical Family: Semicarbazone

Mode of Action: Metaflumizone is part of a new Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) Mode of Action Chemical Group, 22B

Behavior in Ants: Acts through ant ingestion with limited contact activity. Feeding cessation begins quickly - within 15 minutes to 12 hours of ant recruitment of the bait. Insects will die within 72 hours.

Use Rates: 1.0 to 1.5 lb per acre applied by broadcast to the area. Or mound treatments - 1.0 to 2.0 oz ( 2 -4 level tablespoons) around mound. Do not apply more than 6.0 lb per acre per year or four applications.
