How does Snake Away work?
Dr. T's uses knowledge of the snake's Jacobson's organ which controls a snake's sensory reception ability. As Dr. T's Snake-A-Way Snake Repellent's active ingredient vaporizes, it is brought into the sensory receptor (Jacobson’s organ) of approaching snakes and creates an immediate interference. The result is that the snake’s sensory system temporarily closes down, confounding the snake and scaring it into hasty retreat. This effect is only temporary, and the snake’s sensory functions will return to normal after the snake has retreated far enough away from the treated area.
How to Apply Snake-A-Way:
- Using gloves, apply in bands surrounding the area to be protected.
- Use bands 4-5 inches wide to repel checkered garter snakes.
- For rattlesnakes, use bands 8-12 inches wide.
- In yards, lightly sprinkle Snake-A-Way over areas within the treatment band.
- When the odor of Snake A way becomes faint, its effectiveness may be diminished. If this occurs during a season when snakes are active, retreat the area with enough of the product to restore the original odor intensity.
- Re-treatment may also be necessary after heavy rains.
- Do not use this product near streams, ponds, pools, or water supplies. This product is toxic to fish and may contaminate water.
- Apply Spring, Summer and Fall.

This really works. Just remember to reapply according to the directions. The smell diminishes in 1-2 days, but the snakes can detect it for a longer time.

Snake Away is the perfect name for this product!

Five years using this product and it is really doing the job to keep snakes away from the premises of our home. First time costumer buying from DO MY OWN Pest Control and very satisfied with the service. No doubt that I recommend this product for what it is made for, KEEP SNAKES AWAY! We had and infestation of copper head snakes and they are all gone, never came back. Great for any kind of snakes around our land premises. We make a few applications during the active time, like early Spring and early Autumn and as well after a big rain fall. I recommended to neighbors and they are very satisfied with the results. Try it, and I believe that you will be satisfy with the great results. Thank you for your great and prompt service shipping on time this product right by our door. Great price in comparison with my last purchase through another company. From: our Blue Ridge Mountains home

Yes,†Snake Away†is safe for children and pets as long as the label instructions are followed correctly.
QIs Snake Away effective for copperheads?
ASnake Away is mainly labeled for rattlesnakes and garter snakes. However, when testing this product, if a snake was not deterred by the product more than 90% of the time, then they did not place that snake on the label. Copperheads were deterred 87.5% of the time, but since it was not a 90% rating, the company could not place copperheads on the label. That being said, the company said the product is still worth using for copperheads because it does repel copperhead snakes 87.5% of the time.
How to Get Rid of Snakes Article
QWhat is the repel percentage for gopher snakes when using Snake Away?
AUnfortunately the manufacturer could not test their product for every species of snake so they just chose the snakes that seemed to be of the greatest nuisance to their customer base. You can see the chart of snakes they did test Snake Away on by scrolling to the bottom of the Snake Away product page on our website. Gopher snakes are not on the list but what the research did find is that almost all snakes were repelled to a point that using Snake Away would be advantageous in most cases.

QCan Snake Away be used in Ponds
5 acre pond has snakes, just need to get rid of them.
ASnake Away is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life and cannot be used directly in water. Also, if water moccasins and copperheads are your target, Snake Away states on the label that this product may not work on these types of snakes. You may want to resort to trapping the snakes or grabbing them with Snake Tongs when you see them and remove them to new location.
