Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec

Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec is a unique patented formulation of 2,4D, Dicamba, and Mecocrop to control a variety of broadleaf weeds in your lawn. The formulation has lower levels of 2,4D to provide desirable results when used in sensitive grasses such as buffalograss, St. Augustine, and bentgrass. Use Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec when weeds are tender and young for optimal results. Can be applied with standard or hose end sprayers.

  • Irrigate the lawn 2 or 3 days prior to spraying. Do not spray lawns under drought conditions.
  • Do not water for 24 hours after treatment.
  • To avoid damage do not apply to St. Augustine or centipede grasses while emerging from winter dormancy. Damage may also occur on these grasses if temperatures drop below 45F within 72 hours of application.

5 of 5 stars  Seems to work

Sprayed it once and weeds we've been pulling out for years started shriveling up. Only been a few days, but looks like we've got more grass, fewer weeds.

used a very small amount on some troublesome weeds that i sprayed multiple times with spectracide and ortho etc. those products had no effect. this product has that weed turned yellow now after 10 days. i may have to do a second application on some well entrenched crab grass.

Product does what it says it will do. Be patient - took a bit longer than it said it would but did the job. I used it on buttonweed.

2 of 5 stars  not convinced
By Mel in dandridge, tn on 04/24/2015
    Verified Purchase

I purchased the weed killer to rid my lawn of chickweed. Mixed 1 oz to 1 gallon as instructed and sprayed over one corner of the yard to see the effect of the solution. I have seen no effect whatsoever. It has been raining so I have not been able to spray a second time as mentioned in the product reviews. I will spray again as soon as I can and see if a second or third spray will make a difference. As I said, at this time there is no difference between the sprayed and unsprayed sections of the lawn.

QWill Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec kill my white and purple clover?
I don't want to kill the clovers but I do want to kill Dandelions. What would you recommend? Thank you.

AThe Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec is labeled to kill both dandelions and clover.  We have heard of using a 2,4-D product such as the Hi-Yield at lower than recommended rates and spot spraying the dandelions only.  There is still the potential to harm or stunt the clover but other than manually removing the dandelion there is not a broadleaf herbicide that may not also kill the clover.

QWill Southern Ag control or limit Torpedo grass without hurting Centipede grass?
I used last year during the early summer and appears to have killed areas of my Centipede. How can I control or eliminate Torpedo grass?

ASouthern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec is not labeled for torpedo-grass and the product label does warn that it can be damaging to centipede grass.  Most of the herbicides will only suppress the torpedograss for a short time. It is recommended to spot treat the torpedo grass with a non-selective herbicide such as Round Up Quick Pro and then reseed or sod in the treated areas.

QCan Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec be used to kill wild strawberries in our yard?
Can this product be used to kill wild strawberries in our grass? Not sure of grass type since its been here before we moved in. But so has the wild strawberry plants with runners everywhere. 1/3 acre. We think grass is mixed variety of many types. Live in cold climate of Mountainous Quebec Canada. Thank you.

A

Trimec is able to kill many weeds and may certainly control the wild strawberries, however it is not labeled for it, so we cannot tell if you for sure if it will work since it has not been tested on the plant. Most products that contain 2,4-d would likely control the strawberries without harming your grass but any product you choose to use you will want to ensure cool season grasses are on the label.

QI have a zoysia lawn in Missouri and I would like to kill the clover. Is this safe for zoysia?
I also have chickens that may have access to this area. How long should I keep them off of it after treatment?

A

No, Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec is not labeled for zoysia grass.

We would recommend using Bayer Advance All-In-One Lawn Weed and Crabgrass Killer. This is labeled to be used on zoysia grass for clover. You will use 3.2 fl. oz. per gallon of water. That will treat 500 sq. ft. Once the product has dried, your animals can return back to the area.
