How do I use Steri-Fab to eliminate Bedbugs?

To Eliminate ROACHES, BEDBUGS, ANTS AND SILVERFISH LICE and LOUSE EGGS: The infested areas should be sprayed thoroughly and repeatedly, directing the spray into all crevices, cracks, hiding places, seams, creases and folds.   Wow! Does this stuff work. New York City is experiencing a resurgence in bedbugs due to people traveling all over the place, and I found the tell-tale bites on my legs. Yikes! I saved myself over $200 from the local pest control "consultation" by contacting Do My Own Pest Control. They were helpful, and within days I had my first shipment of Steri-Fab. The treatment is simple, effective, and best of all-NO odor. Using this product is as simple as cleaning your bedroom-dust, take the pictures off the wall, strip the mattress, and spritz away!   When I found bed bugs, I promptly bought box spring covers and the mattress covers and washed all sheets and pillows in hot water. Unfortunately, bed bugs are not limited to beds. And in the days since I had discovered them, they had moved to my sofa, as well. I ordered Steri-Fab and www.DoMyOwnPestControl.com shipped it immediately.   Have used this product one time so far and it seems to work very well, did have a strong alcohol smell, we left the apartment after we sprayed and when we returned 6 hours later the smell was completely gone. Haven't seen any bed bugs on the couch or chair, we will spray again in about 3 weeks to make sure the bugs are gone. Didn't stain the couch fabric.

  I was getting bites overnight but I wasn't sure if it was fleas from my dog or bed bugs. I had never had bedbugs before and thought I might have brought them home with me from a trip to the cabins.   I Love this product. It makes your home not only smell clean but that you can feel that you are in a CLEAN home. I spray my beds between linen changes. I had some mildew growing on some wood (in process of building) & it removed the mildew without ruining the wood like bleach would have done. I spray my A/C filter as well to kill any dust mites. Like I said this is a FABULOUS & WONDERFUL Product & I would recommend it to everyone, especially if someone in your home has allergies or asthma.

  I recently bought this product for bed bugs. Initially i thought after spraying it didn't work because i seen those little creatures crawling out after I sprayed, but I finally was able to sleep and woke up without seeing the little buggers near me. IT WORKS! I'm ordering another 16oz and from there will probably order the gallon. Im a little concerned if direct contact for the little red eyed monsters is most effective or does it actually kill the eggs or kill the little devil all together? Nevertheless it seems to keep them at bay and i feel that with repeated applications I might be successful with killing them.

  We used the user video as a guide. It was very simple to apply. No mess and it dried fairly quickly. However it does have quite an odor for sometime but it worked just fine. No more bites for weeks since.

    Bed Bugs Gone Forever

  My friend left me a couch and along with some bed bugs. After doing extensive research online, I decided to go for Steri-Fab and Bedlam. I sprayed Sterifab on the couch,left the couch in cold for 3 days,sprayed again and left in cold for another 3 days.I was surprised to see that all the bed bugs were dead and gone.I also washed all my clothes using 5 caps full of Steri -Fab/load and heat dried them.I am very pleased to say that it has been 2 months and there is not a single trace of bed bug in my house. One of the best products ever.

  I had pulled down a birds nest in an outside storage area and got bird mites all over me. My husband and I cannot prove that the problem was bird mites because they are microscopic. Not knowing what I was dealing with until I had gone in the house, we got them in our sofa and two lounge chairs. I battled them for approximately two months with various fumigators and sprays. I was scared we were going to have to destroy those pieces of furniture. My husband did not get bitten nor did he feel them crawling on him. I read that they can select one host. Wow! Unlucky me! To avoid getting them spread into our bedroom, I tried many, many suggestions from an online site. It is a wonder I have skin left. It reached the point that my husband and doctor believed that there were no longer any mites, that I had developed a psychosis. I, however, knew better and came across your site. Praise God! I ordered the small bottle of spray and the gallon container. I sprayed the three pieces of furniture every day and also vacuumed the furniture every day for probably two or three weeks. No more mites crawling on me nor nibbling. Because larvae can continue to hatch if not eradicated, I am still vacuuming almost every day and spraying the furniture every two to three days. I praise this product. If I feel anything that even remotely makes me think of a mite, I vacuum that furniture and spray it well. Thank you to your company. I have a prescription for medication to help me get over the "feeling" of having mites on me which I never had to take. I knew I was dealing with the real thing and it was an ordeal that Steri-Fab has helped resolve. I strongly recommend it.

ANo, Steri-Fab is not labeled to spray on clothing or shoes. It is best not to spray insecticides on anything that will be worn on your body.

ASteri-Fab does indeed kill on contact. Many of our customers (and all of our staff) use Steri-Fab when traveling and staying in hotels. We always recommend pulling the sheets off of the bed and closely checking the mattress and looking behind head board and in the cracks and crevices of the headboard for evidence of bedbugs. Never put luggage on the bed or on the floor.

ANo, Steri-Fab would not be effective once diluted with water.  If you are treating for bed bugs a normal wash and dry cycle in hot water and high heat will kill all stages of bed bugs including the eggs without having to add anything special to the wash.

ASteri-Fab only works while it is wet. You must make direct contact with the bedbugs and bedbug eggs for Steri-Fab to be effective. While there may be some repellency from the Steri-Fab, it is not labeled as a repellent.

AScabies mites live on/in the skin and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of scabies. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything on furniture though treating the home is usually not necessary.

Here is our best advice on mite control:

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites.  If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

ASterifab is used in nursing homes and hospitals without any issues. Having said that, we are not medical professionals and we do not know how you might be effected by Sterifab. If you decide to use the product it might be best if you let someone else apply it and not return to the room until the application has dried.

ASterifab is labeled to be sprayed directly on mattresses and upholstered furniture. You can spray in a room that does not have a window but you should exit the room after the application and give it about an hour to dry. Your mattress should be completely dry before putting the sheets back on and using it again. Sterifab provides a fast knockdown and kill to those bedbugs and bedbug eggs that are contacted with direct sprays of the product. Sterifab does not leave a long lasting residual so it should not be the only product you use to eliminate bedbugs. AYou cannot mix any other product with Sterifab. Spray one product and allow it to dry before spraying the second product.

ASteri-Fab is a contact kill product only and does not leave any residual.  This is why it is safe to almost apply to any surface.  Once it has dried, it is gone and does not remain.

QDoes Steri fab have an odor when sprayed? If "yes", how long does it last? Will it go away after drying?

ASteri-Fab does not have a strong odor at all and smells very much like rubbing alcohol.  It dries very quickly and does not leave a residual.  It is a contact kill product only, meaning it only kills when it is wet and there is nothing left when it dries.

AThere are a few insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs. Phantom Aerosol, Sterifab and Bedlam. You should note that those insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs must be directly sprayed on the eggs and they are only about 75%-85% effective at actually killing the egg. You will still be required to do retreatments every 7-10 days until you do not receive any more bedbug bites and also see no further evidence that they are active (blood stains, feces or cast skins).
