How Steri-Fab Works
Sterifab acts as a contact kill on bed bugs and other insects using a combination of a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and isopropyl alcohol. Sterifab also acts as a bacteriacide, fungicide, sanitizer, viricide, mildewcide, germicide, deodorant, bacteriostatic, and fungistatic. Because Sterifab does not leave any residual, it can be applied virtually anywhere. Simply shake well, then apply to desired treatment areas. Insect mortality is imminent for those contacted with Sterifab spray. Disinfection generally occurs within 10 minutes of spraying.
Steri-Fab Target Pests
Bed bugs, bed bug eggs, dust mites, lice, mildew, bacteria, fungus, odor-causing organisms

Conditions that require insecticides are often breeding grounds for many types of bacteria, fungus, germs, odors, and mildew. STERIFAB is a product unlike any other available in the world, boasting 11-way protection against not only insects but fungus, germs, and odors.
STERIFAB is a viricide, bactericide, sanitizer, fungicide, insecticide, germicide, deodorizer, disinfectant, mildewcide, bacteriostatic and fungistatic all in one, eliminating the need to keep many different single-use products on hand.
Sterifab is a useful disinfectant and deodorizer for areas with lots of personal traffic, such as waiting rooms, lobbies, conference rooms, patient rooms, day care centers, and bathrooms, as well as modes of transportation such as buses, taxis, and cars.
Sterifab is also an integral part of many bedbug treatments as it is one of few products proven to kill immature and adult bedbugs and bedbug eggs, and it can be used in sensitive areas such as mattresses and upholstered furniture. Sterifab is also sold in many of our popular Bed Bug Kits.

This stuff works!
By Annie on September 14, 2007
Wow! Does this stuff work. New York City is experiencing a resurgence in bedbugs due to people traveling all over the place, and I found the tell-tale bites on my legs. Yikes! I saved myself over $200 from the local pest control "consultation" by contacting Do My Own Pest Control. They were helpful, and within days I had my first shipment of Steri-Fab. The treatment is simple, effective, and best of all-NO odor. Using this product is as simple as cleaning your bedroom-dust, take the pictures off the wall, strip the mattress, and spritz away! I haven't had a bite in over three weeks and there is no residue or after-smell. Now I can just vacuum, dust a bit, and everything is clean and good to go! This is a great product and a fabulous website. Everyone loves a good buffet, but with Steri-Fab, you don't have to be one, LOL. Thanks again!

Easy, effective, and affordable
By Victoria on August 20, 2009
When I found bed bugs, I promptly bought box spring covers and the mattress covers and washed all sheets and pillows in hot water. Unfortunately, bed bugs are not limited to beds. And in the days since I had discovered them, they had moved to my sofa, as well. I ordered Steri-Fab and www.DoMyOwnPestControl.com shipped it immediately. I sprayed the sofa, area rugs, and the bed frame itself. Seven days later, I repeated the process. Not a single bite since. I am always going to keep some Steri-Fab on hand now, just in case.

Have used this product one time so far and it seems to work very well, did have a strong alcohol smell, we left the apartment after we sprayed and when we returned 6 hours later the smell was completely gone. Haven't seen any bed bugs on the couch or chair, we will spray again in about 3 weeks to make sure the bugs are gone. Didn't stain the couch fabric.

I was desperate to find a solution for my daughter's bed bug problem. She was in the dorm and could hardly sleep waking up with bug bites or feeling them crawling on her at night. I found your website and after reading the reviews sent her the 160z bottle. It worked! I then ordered the larger size and the organic product. That helped her to sleep and finally finish the school year. I appreciated the fact that you had an MSDS so I was able to read about the product prior to ordering. You were great with shipping and delivery. I will definitely recommend your company to my friends.

I was getting bites overnight but I wasn't sure if it was fleas from my dog or bed bugs. I had never had bedbugs before and thought I might have brought them home with me from a trip to the cabins. I finally decided to search for something online to help treat this issue when I came across this product. I ordered it and used it all over my bed/mattress and floor. I stopped getting bites! It worked great. I had to do it again a week later though. I got one new bite the following week and remembered that the instructions did recommend re-spraying a week later. So far so good!
Great price and quick delivery.

this is a very good product to use for bedbugs- it really works, but you have to be consistent- we have used about 5 gallons of this product in the last 10 months. and following the instructions, filling in cracks, painting and spraying constantly, we have finally conquered the bedbug problem!!!

The product shipped quickly. I was able to use the gallon to spray 5 rooms and the corridor. After a week I've only seen 2 bed bugs (before I'd find way more). I plan on ordering more to spray again.

August 4, 2010 Jill asked:
QDoes Steri-fab kill on contact?
I willl be staying in a hotel in November, and I would like to know if it will kill bedbugs on contact. I don't want to stay there in a room with them until they die, and I don't want to bring them home with me either.
ASteri-Fab does indeed kill on contact. Many of our customers (and all of our staff) use Steri-Fab when traveling and staying in hotels. We always recommend pulling the sheets off of the bed and closely checking the mattress and looking behind head board and in the cracks and crevices of the headboard for evidence of bedbugs. Never put luggage on the bed or on the floor.
March 5, 2010 Carol asked:
QCan Steri-Fab be sprayed on my clothing and shoes?
December 6, 2009 Ladi asked:
QCan I add STERIFAB to my laundry?
ANo, Steri-Fab would not be effective once diluted with water. If you are treating for bed bugs, a normal wash and dry cycle in hot water and high heat will kill all stages of bed bugs including the eggs without having to add anything special to the wash.
May 25, 2010 Melissa asked:
QIs Steri-Fab sold in stores?
Is SteriFab sold in stores?
ANo, Steri-Fab is considered to be a professional product and is not sold over the counter. It can only be purchased at professional pest control supply stores such as ours. We always have Free Shipping and we ship your order out quickly.
August 20, 2010 Amy asked:
QDoes Steri-Fab continue to work after it dries?
If so, how long? Do the bugs that crawl on the dried surface that was sprayed die? Does it repel bedbugs?
ASteri-Fab only works while it is wet. You must make direct contact with the bedbugs and bedbug eggs for Steri-Fab to be effective. While there may be some repellency from the Steri-Fab, it is not labeled as a repellent.
January 11, 2015 Lesley asked:
QCan you spray steric fab on wood?
A Sterifab is a contact kill and does not leave a residual behind, therefore should be fine to spray on wood. We recommend to a small spot test to see if any discoloration occurs.

Robert from New Boston, Tx asked:
QWe need a fogger that will kill mites and can be used indoors/ household.
A We normally do not recommend fogging for mites as an effective treatment. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites. If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

Jon from Ohio asked:
QIs it safe to use on a childs stuffed animal and give back or should the toy be a casualty of flea war?
It has an electronic voice box and I cant launder it in a conventional method and have already used Steri-Fab on it before realizing my actions.
Steri-Fab - 16 oz. applied to your childs toy should not pose any harm as long as it has dried. We would not recommend using it on the stuffed animal if the child is putting the stuffed animal in their mouth.

Anita from Harlingen, Texas asked:
Qwhat are the side effects of poisioning from this stuff?
My son doing a bed bug job was inclosed in a warehouse in and out for two days with little to no ventilation. Now for the last two to three days hes been throwing up and diahrea that wont stop and today he said his stomache was hurting. Im looking for the label.to read.
A We don't think the sterifab has anything to do with your sons sickness as if this was the only product he was using this is the same type of ingredients as rubbing alcohol you buy over the counter at any drug store. There are some other inert ingredients but none that should create any sickness in a person unless ingested. To be on the safe side, you can contact the manufacturer for further information regarding the safety of your son and any side effects the may come from using the product in that tight of a space. You can reach them at 914-664-5877. You can also find the product label and MSDS on the product page for sterifab in pdf format for viewing.
