How Steri-Fab Works
Steri-Fab acts as a contact kill on bed bugs and other insects using a combination of a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and isopropyl alcohol. Steri-Fab also acts as a bacteriacide, fungicide, sanitizer, viricide, mildewcide, germicide, deodorant, bacteriostatic, and fungistatic. Because Steri-Fab does not leave any residual, it can be applied virtually anywhere. Simply shake well, then apply to desired treatment areas. Insect mortality is imminent for those contacted with Steri-Fab spray. Disinfection generally occurs within 10 minutes of spraying.

STERI-FAB is a viricide, bactericide, sanitizer, fungicide, insecticide, germicide, deodorizer, disinfectant, mildewcide, bacteriostatic and fungistatic all in one, eliminating the need to keep many different single-use products on hand.
Steri-Fab is a useful disinfectant and deodorizer for areas with lots of personal traffic, such as waiting rooms, lobbies, conference rooms, patient rooms, day care centers, and bathrooms, as well as modes of transportation such as buses, taxis, and cars.
Steri-Fab is also an integral part of many bedbug treatments as it is one of few products proven to kill immature and adult bedbugs and bedbug eggs, and it can be used in sensitive areas such as mattresses and upholstered furniture. Steri-Fab is also sold in many of our popular Bed Bug Kits.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Combination of synthetic pyrethroid, a dual quat, and isopropyl alcohol

For best results remove and destroy old animal bedding prior to use. Do not spray animals. Animals should be treated with an appropriate flea and tick spray designed for their use before they reenter the treated area.
On hard surfaces for sanitizing, deodorizing: Apply Sterifab on all surfaces until a moist surface it obtained and allow to remain wet for at least 10 minutes.

This stuff works!
By Annie on 09/14/2007
Wow! Does this stuff work. New York City is experiencing a resurgence in bedbugs due to people traveling all over the place, and I found the tell-tale bites on my legs. Yikes! I saved myself over $200 from the local pest control "consultation" by contacting Do My Own Pest Control. They were helpful, and within days I had my first shipment of Steri-Fab. The treatment is simple, effective, and best of all-NO odor. Using this product is as simple as cleaning your bedroom-dust, take the pictures off the wall, strip the mattress, and spritz away! I haven't had a bite in over three weeks and there is no residue or after-smell. Now I can just vacuum, dust a bit, and everything is clean and good to go! This is a great product and a fabulous website. Everyone loves a good buffet, but with Steri-Fab, you don't have to be one, LOL. Thanks again!

Easy, effective, and affordable
By Victoria in Philadelphia, PA on 08/20/2009
When I found bed bugs, I promptly bought box spring covers and the mattress covers and washed all sheets and pillows in hot water. Unfortunately, bed bugs are not limited to beds. And in the days since I had discovered them, they had moved to my sofa, as well. I ordered Steri-Fab and www.DoMyOwnPestControl.com shipped it immediately. I sprayed the sofa, area rugs, and the bed frame itself. Seven days later, I repeated the process. Not a single bite since. I am always going to keep some Steri-Fab on hand now, just in case.

Have used this product one time so far and it seems to work very well, did have a strong alcohol smell, we left the apartment after we sprayed and when we returned 6 hours later the smell was completely gone. Haven't seen any bed bugs on the couch or chair, we will spray again in about 3 weeks to make sure the bugs are gone. Didn't stain the couch fabric.

I was getting bites overnight but I wasn't sure if it was fleas from my dog or bed bugs. I had never had bedbugs before and thought I might have brought them home with me from a trip to the cabins. I finally decided to search for something online to help treat this issue when I came across this product. I ordered it and used it all over my bed/mattress and floor. I stopped getting bites! It worked great. I had to do it again a week later though. I got one new bite the following week and remembered that the instructions did recommend re-spraying a week later. So far so good!

I was desperate to find a solution for my daughter's bed bug problem. She was in the dorm and could hardly sleep waking up with bug bites or feeling them crawling on her at night. I found your website and after reading the reviews sent her the 160z bottle. It worked! I then ordered the larger size and the organic product. That helped her to sleep and finally finish the school year. I appreciated the fact that you had an MSDS so I was able to read about the product prior to ordering. You were great with shipping and delivery. I will definitely recommend your company to my friends.

Steri-Fab Helped Keep My Sanity
By Syble in Natchez, MS on 12/16/2012
I had pulled down a birds nest in an outside storage area and got bird mites all over me. My husband and I cannot prove that the problem was bird mites because they are microscopic. Not knowing what I was dealing with until I had gone in the house, we got them in our sofa and two lounge chairs. I battled them for approximately two months with various fumigators and sprays. I was scared we were going to have to destroy those pieces of furniture. My husband did not get bitten nor did he feel them crawling on him. I read that they can select one host. Wow! Unlucky me! To avoid getting them spread into our bedroom, I tried many, many suggestions from an online site. It is a wonder I have skin left. It reached the point that my husband and doctor believed that there were no longer any mites, that I had developed a psychosis. I, however, knew better and came across your site. Praise God! I ordered the small bottle of spray and the gallon container. I sprayed the three pieces of furniture every day and also vacuumed the furniture every day for probably two or three weeks. No more mites crawling on me nor nibbling. Because larvae can continue to hatch if not eradicated, I am still vacuuming almost every day and spraying the furniture every two to three days. I praise this product. If I feel anything that even remotely makes me think of a mite, I vacuum that furniture and spray it well. Thank you to your company. I have a prescription for medication to help me get over the "feeling" of having mites on me which I never had to take. I knew I was dealing with the real thing and it was an ordeal that Steri-Fab has helped resolve. I strongly recommend it.

So far, so good
By Susan in Syracuse, NY on 11/22/2011
I purchased Steri-fab for a birdmite problem. I had called in professional exterminators who put down traps and found nothing, but I continued to be bitten several times nightly. I did every other self-extermination step, cleaning, vacuuming, etc. etc. and when they didn't work I ordered the steri-fab. One review said it smelled horribly, but actually it is a pleasant smell, just as a sprayed chemical it did get overpowering as I finished saturating my mattress. I wish I realised I hadn't opened the nozzle far enough from stream to spray, but, hey I really got my mattress impregnated with it and I sprayed the floor, sides of the boxspring, bedframe and upholstered side chair. I opened all the windows (November..bbbrrrr) and it dried in less than half an hour. I then zipped the mattress into a mite proof cover. It has been nine days and I have been bite free!!!!!! I cannot tell you how priceless this is - I was about to go insane! I still have about a third of the bottle left and pray I won't need it again. However, it would be good to have if I stay at at hotel sometime! Thank you, thank you thank you for this product.

While over 60% "isopropyl" (rubbing alcohol), Steri-Fab is an institutional cleaner that ACTUALLY kills bed bugs on contact. Traditional over-the-counter sprays do not do that. Before purchasing, I read reviews on Amazon that swear by it. One person had a bedbug problem for 2 years, spent $1,000s on pest control companies then starting using Steri-Fab for a few weeks and the problem began to disappear. We have certainly seen improvement, and using Steri-Fab in conjunction with Suspend SC and a Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) is eradicating the problem so far, but we are not completely out of the woods as of yet. Looking forward to reporting once complete control has been attained.

QDoes Steri-fab kill on contact?
I willl be staying in a hotel in November, and I would like to know if it will kill bedbugs on contact. I don't want to stay there in a room with them until they die, and I don't want to bring them home with me either.
ASteri-Fab does indeed kill on contact. Many of our customers (and all of our staff) use Steri-Fab when traveling and staying in hotels. We always recommend pulling the sheets off of the bed and closely checking the mattress and looking behind head board and in the cracks and crevices of the headboard for evidence of bedbugs. Never put luggage on the bed or on the floor.
QCan Steri-Fab be sprayed on my clothing and shoes?
QIs Steri-Fab sold in stores?
Is SteriFab sold in stores?
ANo, Steri-Fab is considered to be a professional product and is not sold over the counter. It can only be purchased at professional pest control supply stores such as ours. We always have Free Shipping and we ship your order out quickly.
QCan I add STERIFAB to my laundry?
ANo, Steri-Fab would not be effective once diluted with water. If you are treating for bed bugs, a normal wash and dry cycle in hot water and high heat will kill all stages of bed bugs including the eggs without having to add anything special to the wash.
QDoes Steri-Fab continue to work after it dries?
If so, how long? Do the bugs that crawl on the dried surface that was sprayed die? Does it repel bedbugs?
ASteri-Fab only works while it is wet. You must make direct contact with the bedbugs and bedbug eggs for Steri-Fab to be effective. While there may be some repellency from the Steri-Fab, it is not labeled as a repellent.

QWe need a fogger that will kill mites and can be used indoors/ household.
AWe normally do not recommend fogging for mites as an effective treatment. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites. If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

QIs it safe to use on a childs stuffed animal and give back or should the toy be a casualty of flea war?
It has an electronic voice box and I cant launder it in a conventional method and have already used Steri-Fab on it before realizing my actions.
ASteri-Fab - 16 oz. applied to your childs toy should not pose any harm as long as it has dried. We would not recommend using it on the stuffed animal if the child is putting the stuffed animal in their mouth.

QIs there an insecticide that kills bed bug eggs or do you have to wait until hatched and retreat?
AThere are a few insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs. Phantom Aerosol, Sterifab and Bedlam. You should note that those insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs must be directly sprayed on the eggs and they are only about 75%-85% effective at actually killing the egg. You will still be required to do retreatments every 7-10 days until you do not receive any more bedbug bites and also see no further evidence that they are active (blood stains, feces or cast skins).

QWhat can I use to get rid of a birdmite infestation in my condo?
I've had pest control company out 3 times, no luck. I've fogged 3 times with Cedarcide, no luck. Now what? I'm getting bit every night and losing sleep. I washed everything, changed bedding, added bed but/mite protectors to mattress-box spring-pillows.
AFor treatment in the home we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. QIs Steri-Fab harmful if inhaled during the application? Is it irritating if you touch treated areas?
ASteri-Fab is a very safe product to use and is used everyday in hospitals, day-cares and nursing homes without any issues at all. Steri-Fab does contain alcohol so it does have a bit of a smell but the smell is not harmful and it disappears after the treated area is dry. We have never had a complaint that Steri-Fab was irritating to anyone's skin after it has dried.
QWhat is your strongest bed bug spray to spray on luggage after returning from trips? To rid eggs also?
AUnfortunately there is not a spray that will kill all of the eggs since the eggs are pretty well protected by their shell. Sterifab is a great product to use because it has a fast kill of the adults and nymphs and it is known to be somewhat effective on bed bugs eggs. It is very important that you are very thorough and treat every crack and crevice and seam on the luggage. Clothing should not be sprayed. Clothing should be bagged and then placed directly in the washing machine and washed.
QWhat are the side effects for Steri-Fab?
AWhen used as directed by the Steri-Fab product label, there should not be a problem with any side effects. Apply Steri-Fab to the item that needs to be treated and leave the area for 30-45 minutes to allow the item to dry. Once Steri-Fab is dry it is safe to use the item again.
QDoes Steri-Fab kill all stages of bed bugs, including the larvae stage?
QCan you use Steri-Fab to treat bed bugs inside a crib where a baby sleeps?
ASteri-Fab can be used just about anywhere, but of course you should be very careful around a baby's crib. We would recommend washing the bedding in the crib where the baby touches and sleeps. Wash in a hot wash cycle and dry on high heat. This will kill all stages of bed bugs. With the bedding out of the crib, you can treat the frame of the crib and joints with Steri-Fab. Once dry, you can replace the bedding that was washed.
QCan over spray of Steri-Fab stain wood surfaces, nightstands, headboards etc?
ASteri-Fab is safe on almost any surface. Steri-Fab is formulated to be able to be sprayed on most surfaces. However, just to be safe you should always spray a small inconspicuous area first just to make sure there are no reactions. We have never had a complaint about staining before.
