    Q
How does this compare to a methylated seed oil (MSO) surfactant?
MSO surfactants are recommended by some herbicide manufacturers.
    A
This product is a non-ionic surfactant that contains alkylaryl polyethoxyethanol. The type of surfactant used will depend upon the weather conditions and the size of the weeds. A methylated seed oil (MSO) would be used when weeds are stressed or the weather is extremely dry. A nonionic product, such as the Surf-Ac 820, can be used in normal weather conditions when weeds and small and well. Oil based surfactants are recommended when using for the control of grasses (unless it specifically says on the label not to use an oil based surfactant).

  • Asked by Jerry from Fulton, Ky
    06/19/2018
    Q
Is there a difference between Surf-AC 820 and Hum-AC 820? Or just a name change by Drexel?
The Hum-AC 820 that I have seems identical to the Surf-AC
    A

We do not carry the Hum-AC 820 but do see on the manufacturers website that it has a different active ingredient than the Surf-Ac 820 Non-Ionic Surfactant so they are not the same.  Hum appears to have Glycerol, alcohol ethoxylate, polyoxyethylenepolyoxypropylene monobutyl ether, Surf-Ac is just Alcohol ethoxylate, alkylphenol ethoxylate.

  • Asked by Chad

    Q
How much Surf-Ac 820 Non-Ionic Surfactant should be mixed with Bifenthrin IT
    A

Per the product label for Surf-Ac 820 Non-Ionic Surfactant when used with insecticides you would use 1-2 pints (16-32 oz) per 100 gallons, this breaks down to approx 0.16-0.32 fl oz per gallon of water.

Bifen IT does not require the use of a surfactant unless you are treating for eriophyid mites or spider mites per the product label.  Adding one for other insects would only increase the residual for a few days on outside surfaces.
