How to Use Suspend SC
How Suspend SC Works
SUSPEND SC Insecticide with DeltaGard offers the benefits of deltamethrin in a concentrated suspension of pure micro-crystals. The micro-crystals give Suspend SC a long residual (up to 3 months), and instead of being absorbed into porous materials, they stay on the surface. As a result, insects continue to contact them long after the insecticide has been applied. Yet Suspend SC leaves no visible residue, has virtually no odor, and won't clog spray equipment.
Suspend SC is a residual concentrate in the synthetic pyrethroid family of insecticides. The active ingredient Deltamethrin kills by acting as a high-power poison to the insect's central nervous system. Once poisoned, the insect’s nerve cells become excited, causing paralysis and eventual death. Suspend SC is diluted with water and applied with a sprayer. Once the product has dried, pests easily pick up the millions of microscopic particles left behind, and the active ingredient kills by contact and ingestion. Though Suspend SC is deadly to insects, it is very gentle on people and pets, when used properly, and is labeled for outdoor and indoor crack and crevice use.
The formulation of Suspend SC is a Suspended Concentrate, meaning finely ground particles of the active ingredient are suspended in water. Suspend SC has no additional solvents, but it does contain surfactants to help suspend the solid particles and biocides to prevent microbial growth and extend the shelf life.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Deltamethrin - 4.75%
Suspend SC Application Instructions
- Suspend SC is a liquid insecticide concentrate which must be diluted with water and applied with a sprayer.
- It is best to shake your Suspend SC container a few times before dispensing, in case of any settling of solids.
- Treatments may be applied at 21-day intervals, or as necessary, to maintain adequate control.
- Treat specific areas that insects inhabit or where they are frequently found.
- Use 0.25 to 1.5 fluid ounces of SUSPEND® SC in one gallon of water and apply to adequately cover 1,000 sq. ft. Under conditions of severe pest infestations, when quick knockdown and/or longer residual control is desired, use 1 gallon of 0.06% per 1,000 sq. ft.
- When diluting, it is recommended to add approximately half the water to the spray tank, then add the proper amount of Suspend SC in accordance with the rates in the appropriate proportion. Agitate, then add the remaining water slowly to avoid excess foam. Thoroughly agitate the sprayer before using to insure proper suspension.
- If spraying is interrupted when using a backpack or handheld spray equipment, reinvert sprayer before use.
*** ALWAYS READ THE PRODUCT LABEL COMPLETELY BEFORE USE ***
1 Pint (16 oz.) of Suspend SC concentrate yields 10-64 gallons of finished solution, depending on mixing rate used. 1 Gallon (128 oz) of concentrate yields 85 to over 500 gallons of finished solution. One gallon of finished solution should cover approximately 1,000 square feet.
Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for Suspend SC:
- 0.25-0.75 fl. oz. (7.5-22.7mL)/gal. of water – 0.01%-0.03% - maintenance or preventative treatments; smaller pests such as ants, fleas, pantry pests, and silverfish
- 0.75-1.5 fl. oz. (22.7-45.4mL)/gal. of water – 0.03%-0.06% - cleanout treatments, heavier infestations, longer residual control; tougher pests such as cockroaches, spiders, bed bugs, and mosquitoes
- 1.5 fl. oz. (45.4mL)/gal. of water – 0.06% - Termites (localized control only)
- 0.75 fl. oz. (22.7mL)/gal. of water – 0.03% - Carpenter ants
Use in the Following Areas:
Residential, industrial, and institutional control in and around households and other structures; commercial and residential turf and landscape ornamental plants; non-food and non-feed areas of Aircraft (cargo only), Apartment buildings, Bakeries, Bottling facilities, Breweries, Buses, Cafeterias, Candy plants, Canneries, Dairy product processing plants, Food manufacturing plants, Food processing plants, Food service establishments, Granaries & grain mills, Hospitals, Hotels, Houses, Industrial buildings, Installations, Kitchens, Laboratories, Mausoleums, Meat, poultry & egg processing & packaging plants, Mobile & motor homes, Nursing homes, Offices, Railcars, Restaurants, Schools, Ships & vessels, Trailers, Trucks, Warehouses, Wineries; carports, garages, storage sheds, unoccupied horse stables and pet kennels; athletic fields, recreational areas, residential landscapes, parks
Suspend SC may be applied as a crack and crevice or spot treatment in residential buildings and structures. Use 0.25-0.75 fl. oz./gal. of water for most treatments. Treat where pests are found or normally occur, such as around floors, baseboards, expansion joints, around water and sewer pipes, and voids formed by equipment or appliances. For spot applications, use a low pressure system with a fan-type nozzle to apply spot treatments. Do not treat entire floor, carpet or floor covering. Do not apply as a space spray. Application to furniture should be restricted to areas where prolonged contact by humans will not occur.
Suspend SC Insecticide can be converted to a foam and the foam used to treat structural voids to control insect and arthropod pests in walls, under slabs or in other void areas.
Bed bugs – Remove linens and wash before reuse. Apply to mattresses as a spot treatment, especially tufts, folds, and edges until moist. Apply to the interior of the frame. Allow to dry before remaking bed. We do not recommend Suspend SC as the sole treatment for bed bugs - instead it is recommended to use a variety of bed bug control products. There is also a high risk of resistance when using Suspend SC for bedbug treatment. See Get Rid of Bed Bugs for complete treatment recommendations.
Carpet Beetles, Fleas and Ticks – A total integrated pest management program is recommended. It is suggested that infested areas be thoroughly vacuumed prior to treatment. These areas include all carpet, upholstered furniture, baseboards and other indoor areas frequented by pets. The vacuum cleaner bag should be discarded in an outdoor trash container upon completion. Pet bedding should be cleaned or replaced. Apply Suspend SC Insecticide as a uniform coarse low-pressure spot or crack and crevice treatment to areas where these pests normally inhabit. Care should be taken to limit spot treatments to pet bedding and its surrounding area, infested floor coverings and pest habitats. Do not treat entire area of floor, carpet or floor coverings. Do not apply as a space spray. Restrict applications to furniture where no prolonged contact by humans will occur. Do not allow people or pets to contact treated areas until spray has dried. This product can be used with an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). Effective flea control includes controlling the source of flea infestations. This can require treatment of pets with a product registered by EPA for such use and treating outside areas frequented by pets. Suspend SC Insecticide can also be applied out-of-doors for flea control. Do NOT treat pets with this product.
Use Suspend SC Insecticide to control outdoor pests by application as either a perimeter treatment, residual spray or broadcast application to lawns, grounds, and ornamental plantings.
For residual control, apply Suspend SC as a coarse low-pressure spray at the rate of 0.75 to 1.5 fl. oz./gal. of water to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eaves, patios, refuse dumps, garages, and lawns.
- 1 Gallon of finished solution will generally cover 1,000 square feet when using a hand pump sprayer for spot or perimeter treatments.
Fire ants - Apply Suspend SC Insecticide as a drench. Dilute 1.5 fl oz per one gallon of water. Gently sprinkle 1 to 2 gallons of the diluted insecticide over the surface of each mound and surrounding area to a 2-foot diameter. For best results, apply in cool weather, 65 to 80°F or in early morning or late evening hours. Treat new mounds as they appear. Pressurized sprays may disturb the ants and cause migration, reducing product effectiveness.
Turf-grass applications – Uniform coverage is essential. Apply Suspend SC as a broadcast application using a conventional hydraulic boom-type sprayer or similar suitable equipment using a minimum of 2 gallons of water per 1000 square feet and 0.4 to 0.9 fl. oz./1000 sq. ft. (17.5 to 39 oz. per Acre). Delay irrigation or mowing for 24 hours after application for surface feeders such as cutworms and webworms. For sub-surface feeders such as mole crickets, irrigate with 0.25 to 0.5 inch of water immediately after application.
Ornamantel pests – Apply 4 to 8 fl. oz. per 100 gallons of water. Apply when pests become evident. Thorough coverage is required for best results. Apply with sufficient water to ensure coverage of upper and lower leaf surfaces.
See complete product label for additional instructions on outdoor applications.

Suspends the bugs
By Retired on 10/27/2008
Yes, that is right, Suspend SC suspends the bugs. It is so easy to apply and has no smell to it. I am glad to have found this website so I could do my own exterminating. If you can wash your hands or make a sandwich you can apply these chemicals. Make sure you buy a good pump sprayer at least as good as the one on this website for around $49. The first application will pay for itself. No more expensive visits from these so called professionals. Take it from me, retired early, I did not retire early by spending all my money. Good luck.

Before spraying with Suspend SC, both my home and the homes around me were infested badly with roaches, spiders, ants and centipedes. After spraying the perimeter of my home and the inside with Suspend SC, I was sweeping up roaches, centipedes and spiders by the hundreds for about three days. then I would find roaches and centipedes that had tried to cross the boundaries I had treated. They would die within about six feet of crossing it. I would recommend it for the novice or for the professional over all other products. I would recommend all the products from this company as excellent.

This product works!
By Aj in PA on 10/09/2008
We live in a valley that is also backed by woods. I just ordered Suspend SC this year to use for asian beetles. Every year since we moved into our older house they would come about this time (the first couple weeks of october) and they literally cover the outside of our home. They get into everything, our laundry, light fixtures, food, etc. They stink and stain everything. The only way we could do anything was by vacuuming them. But I told my husband I wasn't ruining another $500 vacuum because of this problem anymore. I did some research and found this site (sooo glad) because a few days ago we sprayed the entire outside of the house, especially the windows. As I sit here right now typing, there are no lady bugs entering my house! Last year at this time I would already have my vacuum out. I went outside and looked on the house and there are hardly any landing on the spray, and those that do seem to be dying quickly. I cannot thank this site enough. I am deadly afraid of spiders and get them bad in my basement as well, but after reading other reviews I guess I won't be worry about those either!

I bought a place in the woods and the spiders were very bad in my basement. My wife said I needed to do something or the washing was not going to get done (washer and dryer in basement). So I tried Suspend SC and the results are outstanding. It's like a bad massacre. The bugs don't have a chance. Suspend is the best at a good price.

Bed bugs and Roaches
By Ccoffyccakes in NY on 08/13/2012
I had been being eaten alive by bed bugs! I used this once and poof they're all gone! I had been trying EVERYTHING under the sun to rid them and nothing worked. Especially that crappy Hot Shot bed bug spray from Home Depot I believe it was steroids for them or something. Also we had a TON of roaches. NY roaches that lift weights and take creatine! They had scratched our name of the mailbox and wrote "roaches" they are 98% gone. I still see a few here and there but it's because the slobs in my building are just that slobs -_- anyway THIS STUFF ROCKS!!!!

Hands Down .....The best stuff for Bed bugs
By Crystal in chicago on 01/13/2012
I will say this , the reviews saying this stuff does not kill bed bugs are misleading and wrong . I had a huge bed bug infestation in my home and after using this product my home is bed bug free and g=has been for the last 6 months. The people who are using it are most likely not doing a complete and through job at exterminating . I used this in conjunction with a oreck steamer and my clothes dryer and it did the job for about 10% of what an exterminator would have charged . This product is only half of whats needed to kill bed bugs . You also need proper knowledge of how to use the product . There is a how to guide on ebay that tells you what to use and how to use it . This product saved me over 2 thousand dollars . Why pay the orkin man when with this product and the do it yourself guide on ebay you can become the orkin man and do as good a job if not even better .

Got it for bed bugs with Demand CS and the Gentrol IGR. Had a pretty good infestation in my old apartment, well over 50 bugs and uncountable eggs. Just so happened that I was moving anyway so I thought my problems were solved if I cleaned everything well and brushed everything down with an over the counter deltamethrin solution before the move; not the case. I found about 15 bugs about a week after my move the first time I checked my mattress and bed springs. After first use of the sprays (I tank mixed them all together) I found about 8 bugs 2 weeks later, 2 more weeks down to two, now have not found any, checking about three times for over a month. Guess it works :)

This stuff really works
By Kris in NJ on 06/09/2010
This is best combined with Gentrol IGR. l got this for stray bedbugs that come into our apt. If you understand bed bugs, if you don't act soon you are looking at an incredible loss of property in terms of how much stuff you'd have to dispose of because of an infestation. Pro pest control also uses this combo. In addition we are sensitive to their bite. I recommend following the product labeling and use once every 2-3 months. Roaches, ants, and other bugs are also eliminated. Use corner treatment if you are afraid of pesticide contamination.

Suspend SC is the most amazing product for the battle against roaches I have ever encountered. I followed the directions I received over the phone and I have seen only dead roaches ever since. The directions on the bottle are very hard to follow, but I got excellent directions over the phone when I called. I will recommend it to everyone I know.

Does the job!
By Susan on 08/23/2005
Suspend SC is the perfect solution for my pest control needs. I have 5 indoor show dogs who are sensitive to many products, so I was a little concerned about using it. It has been over 1 year since I have begun using Suspend without incident. Living in the desert, I have problems with fire ants, scorpions, black windows, crickets and flies. Monthly pest control services were unable to control the problem. Suspend SC took care of it - first application. The product is easy to use, simple to apply, and does the job it promises without any adverse effects.
Have a question about this product?
Ask our product experts...
Ask a Question
QHow much Suspend SC do I mix in a 2 gallon sprayer for exterior residential application?
AYou should use 1 ounce of Suspend SC for each gallon of water for general pest control outdoors.
QWhat is the shelf life of Suspend SC and Demand CS?
I see no expiration date on my bottles of Talstar, Suspend SC and Demand CS. What is the shelf life on these products?
ATalstar P, Suspend SC and Demand CS have a shelf life of about 3-5 years from the date of purchase. They should be stored in a place where they are protected from over heating, freezing and direct sunlight to ensure the longest shelf life possible.
QI have small children and want to use Suspend SC for spider control in my home. Is it safe?
AYes, Suspend SC and all of our products are safe as long as you follow the instructions on the product label. When mixed with water, these products are only strong enough to kill small insects. You should keep all children and pets out of the room while you are treating. Use common sense when applying, you obviously do not want to spray on any toys or around pets food and water bowls. Wait 30 minutes for product to dry, then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room.
QHow long can Suspend SC be stored for after mixing?
After mixing Suspend SC, can the unused portion in the sprayer be stored for a period of time?
AMost sprayer manufacturers warn against storing insecticides inside the sprayer. Storing liquids (even plain water) inside the sprayer can cause the rubber components to deteriorate quickly and make the sprayer inoperable. Only mix exactly what you can use and discard any left over solution and thoroughly rinse the sprayer after each use.
QCan I spray Suspend SC on anything inside the house?
I'm trying to get rid of what I am assuming to be bed bugs, but may be some other type of small insect that is biting at night. I am assuming and hoping that this product can get rid of whatever it is. Can I spray Suspend SC on anything inside the house? Where and on what can I spray this product?
ASuspend SC can applied to mattresses, especially tufts, folds, and edges until moist. You should also apply to the interior of the frame. Allow to dry before remaking bed. Also, you would want to treat around the perimeter of the room, baseboards, feet of the bed, etc. You may want to try one of our Bed Bug Kits which have a variety of products which are proven to treat bed bugs.

QIs Suspend SC an instant kill?
Is this product an instant kill?
ASuspend SC is not a contact kill. It does take some time to effect insects after they contact a treated surface. They will die within a few hours up to 24 hours
QHow does Suspend SC compare to Talstar P?
ABoth the Suspend SC and the Talstar P contain synthetic pyrethroids for active ingredients and will provide very similar results. The only advantage to using Talstar P over Suspend SC is that it is known to be super gentle on most plants (do not use on edible vegetation) and is virtually odorless while Suspend Sc does have a slight odor. Both products can be used indoors and outdoors and both products are safe to use in houses with children and pets.

QDoes this product work on mosquitos?
We have an enclosed garage, and these pest love to stay inside and fly in the door every time it is opened.
ASuspend SC will kill mosquitoes. We recommend you spray your garage and also the bushes and trees around your home to control the mosquitoes.
06/25/2012 Derek from Savannah, Ga
QWhat's the difference between tempo sc ultra and suspend sc?
ATempo SC Ultra is formulated using the active ingredient beta-Cyfluthrin and Suspend SC is formulated using the active ingredient Deltamethrin. Both active ingredients are from the same class of insecticides known as synthetic pyrethroids and because of this both products are labeled for many of the same insects. Suspend SC does have a much broader product label and is allowed to be used in more places for more insects than the Tempo SC Ultra. Tempo SC Ultra on the other hand is known to have a bit of a faster knockdown and less chance of resistance because it has not been as widely used. Please take a moment to read over the Suspend SC product label and the Tempo SC Ultra product label to see which product would best fit your needs.

QWill Suspend SC kill German roaches?
ASuspend SC is labeled for roaches, including German roaches, and should do a great job helping you eliminate the infestation. We recommend that in addition to a concentrated liquid insecticide like Suspend SC you also use a high quality roach bait gel such as Advion roach Bait Gel to help get the roaches that hide in places where you cannot spray (cabinets, counter tops, drawers) as well as an insect growth regulator such as Gentrol Point Source to help stop the breeding cycle of the roaches. You can purchase both of these products together in our Roach Control Kit #1.
QIs Suspend SC an effective way of killing fleas and flea eggs indoors?
I live oceanfront in N.C., and I am beginning to get a bit of a nasty flea infestation. My poor dog is being bombarded by many different species of fleas due to the area we live in. I am about to buy him K-9 Advantix for topical relief (unless you feel something is better), but I was wondering if Suspend SC is an effective way to kill the fleas in the house. We have a 6 month old baby and a 5 year old, so the safeness of the product is what drew me to it. Please tell me what you think.
ASuspend SC is not the best choice for indoor flea control because you can not broadcast spray it over carpeted areas. We recommend using Ultracide for indoor fleas. Ultracide is a very effective flea control aerosol that provides immediate kill of adult fleas and prevents formation of new adults from eggs or larvae. Ultracide is a very safe and effective flea control product that is used widely by professional companies such as Terminix and Orkin in homes with children and pets all the time. You should only apply Ultracide to carpeted areas and upholstered areas. Do not apply on top of couches and chairs where people rest their arms, fleas do not breed in these areas. You would want to spray around the foot of the furniture, and underneath couch cushions. You should have children and pets in another room while you are treating. After treatment, allow 30 minutes to dry and then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room. Vacuum immediately before the treatment and every other day for the next 14 days. A second treatment may be needed after 14 days for heavy infestations.
QWill Suspend SC kill Scorpions?
I know your product kills spiders and scorpions, but I have read that scorpions are harder to kill than other arachnids.
QIs Suspend SC safe to use on baseboards? We have a crawling toddler.
ASuspend SC is one of the safest and most effective products we sell, which is why it is so popular. You should always have children and pets vacate the room while you are applying the product. Once the product is dry, which usually takes about 30-45 minutes, it is fine to allow children and pets back in the room. These products are only strong enough to kill tiny insects.
QDoes Suspend SC kill termites?
ASuspend SC will kill a termite if you physically spray the Suspend SC onto a termite. However, it is not considered a termite treatment product. Termites eat wood from the inside out, so they are not out in the open to treat. Also, termites do not crawl on top of the ground like other insects, they enter the home from under the ground. So just by spraying around your home on top of the ground and on your home, will not protect it against termites. For proper termite protection, we recommend doing a termite treatment with Dominion 2L. You should also read our "How to Do a Termite Treatment" article.
QHas anyone used Suspend SC to control stinkbugs?
These pests are a big problem in Pennsylvania and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Also, spreading to Maryland and the D.C. area.
A Suspend SC is a very popular product for stink bugs and widely used by our customers. The key to stink bug control is to treat in the fall when the stink bugs normally look for entry into a home. Even more important is to make sure there are no cracks around windows or under doors. You should seal all cracks and holes with caulk or other suitable material to prevent entry from stink bugs and other pests during the fall and winter.
