This is the Talpird Mole TRAP. We also sell Talpirid Mole Bait.
The new Talpirid Mole Trap presents the latest in mole trap technology from Bell Labs. This excellent trap is made of durable heavy-duty nylon and features a yellow foot pedal that makes the trap "hands free", safe, and easy to use. Watch the video which shows how to use the trap. Then after using a spade shovel as directed, simply place the trap jaws in an active mole tunnel and step on the trap's yellow foot pedal, which sets the trigger below the surface. Forcing it could cause breakage. The trap's low profile allows it to sit close to the level of the ground. When the trap is triggered, the yellow foot pedal springs up notifying you of the kill. The thing we love about the Talpirid Mole Trap is that it can be safely disengaged and relocated to other mole tunnels, depending on the severity of the infestation. Plus, you can use the trap over and over again for multiple kills.
We recommend using the Talpirid Mole Trap in combination with Talpirid Mole Bait, one of the best mole baits on the market today.
|Application:||Use a spade shovel as video directs to place the trap jaws in an active mole tunnel and step on the trap's yellow foot pedal which sets the trigger below the surface. |Material / Construction:||glass-filled nylon, TALPIRID Mole Trap will not rust and can be used over and over again...in all types of soils.|

The Talprid Mole Trap is safe and easy to use. Using a spade the way the video directs, place the trap jaws in an active mole tunnel and step on the trap's yellow foot pedal, which sets the trigger below the surface. If you force the trap into the dirt without using a spade as directed, it could cause breakage. The trap's low profile allows it to sit close to the level of the ground. Talpirid Mole Trap
By John in Burlington Township, NJ on 08/10/2010
For weeks I have been noticing tunnels all over my yard and figured I had a mole. Search the internet for ways to get rid of them. I found the Talpirid Mole Trap and figured I give it a try. I received it yesterday, set it last night, and this morning I had the mole. This thing is awesome!

Best Trap Ever
By Joseph in Tallahassee Florida on 09/15/2010
Placed this on an active tunnel in the front yard and within an hour had the offending mole. A couple of weeks later had another active tunnel in the back yard and had the same results. Two dead moles in so many weeks. If you want to get rid of your moles quickly and easily buy this trap!!!

Works great but difficult to set
By Mike in Hermitage, TN on 10/24/2010
I had a mole after only a few hours of first setting the trap. It took at least 10 minites to properly cut the slots for the jaws. This is the most difficult part of getting this trap set.
By Ron in Florissant, MISSOURI on 07/16/2017
In following the enclosed xerox instruction sheet to the letter we find it impossible to penetrate the soil across the tunnel for both of the traps tines to enter the tunnel without collapsing the tunnel . Older style traps work with much greater ease ! Thank God we live on acreage in a rural setting in a gun friendly state . Our most EFFECTIVE METHOD is to observe the rotten rodents current soil disruptive activity and then AIM AT THE TUNNEL, POP OFF A FEW ROUNDS OF 22 cal SLUGS; transforming the rodent into the best thing it EVER COULD BECOME ..... "TREE FOOD" !
Very hard to set
By Susan in mineola, Texas on 07/06/2017
This might be great for some people but we have not been able to set it without great difficulty! By the time we finally get it set, the run has been completely destroyed and we have yet to catch a single mole. It is not nearly as easy as the illustration or video implies. I feel it probably works but there is more to setting it than appears.

The only thing I have found that will actually work. There is a small learning curve with regards to setting the trap correctly. But, once learned it works wonderfully.

So far so good

Quick service, good packing/shipping, well-made product. No moles caught yet, I think the trap scared them to death, or they went back into hibernation.
untrap mole trap

I think the moles are laughing at this contraption. Haven't caught one yet. Still trying and I have decided to make my own. I rated one star because I had to.

This thing is awesome!! Caught 4 moles within one week. They've been tearing up my backyard for the last 4 years. Tried everything else on the market with no luck. Set the trap in an active tunnel and should have them within 24 hours. Best trap on the market.
Not as easy as described
By Leonard in Parsons , TN on 02/13/2017
I have reset the traps three times using the 7 day waiting periods and I have no catches. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your comments! We are sorry that you are having trouble getting catches. You do want to be sure to test runs before setting your trap. You can use a dowel to make a hole or use your foot to gently depress a runway about 1 inch down, being careful not to completely collapse a runway. Check the damage 1-2 days later, and if it has been repaired, then the runway is active. If the damage is not repaired, then the runway is not active, and you should test somewhere else. You can view more information and other tips in our Mole Treatment Guide here: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-get-rid-of-moles-a-600.html We can also assist you by telephone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST. Been Using it two months , nothing yet
By James in Willard, MO on 02/12/2017
Trap is hard to set. Have moved it all around with different runs and haven't caught anything in two months!
Thank you for your comments. We agree that the Talpirid trap can take a lot of strength to set. If you are not using a shovel to make divots before placing the trap over your runways, then this can make setting the trap easier. You also want to be sure to test runs before setting your trap. I gave these to my Son-in-law for a Christmas gift. He had late season mole issues. I took the two that I own to his home. After one installation demonstration, in little time, he asked me where he could purchase these. These traps do work well. After proper installation, they seldom miss.

Received a trap in the mail that had obviously been used before. I called the company to report the discrepancy and a spokesperson for the company apologized, scheduled me for a replacement, and informed me that due to the inconvenience, I did not have to return the used trap. I used the original trap for a week while waiting for the replacement and caught nothing. When the new one arrived, I caught a mole in less than 24 hours.

QHow do you set the Talpirid Mole Trap? Once it has caught a mole how do you remove the remains?
I didn't understand the customers review of setting the jaws. Could you explain it and also explain removing the dead mole? Thanks
AWe believe the manufacturer explains setting the trap and removing the remains best. Please take a few minutes to read over the illustrated instructions: Talpirid Mole Trap Instructions. We have provided the link here for your convenience, but the instructions link is always available on the Talpirid Mole Trap page.

QI have a small dog and garden cat. Is the Talpirid trap safe to set with them wandering around my yard?
AWhen the trap is in use the forks or business end of the trap is actually underground and won't be exposed to your pets. If you are worried that they can potentially disturb the Talpirid trap you can put a 5 gallon bucket over the trap to make it inaccessible to your pets.

QWould the Talpirid Mole Trap work for voles also?
Still not sure what the critters are, had "professional exterminators", told me they are voles, but never caught any... What the cat got thou, looks like a mole. Would the trap work for both? The "impeller" traps we have now didn't kill either. Our 5 ac yard is a MESS!
A The Talpirid Mole Trap is only labeled to trap moles. For more information on the products that we carry for controllig voles, please click on the link below. Please let us know if you need anything else.

QHow do I reset the Talpirid mole trap?
I set the mole trap, and the large yellow part came up indicating a capture. When I removed the trap, there was no mole, but the jaws were closed together. I am trying to re set it but cannot figure out how. I put in into the ground above another mole tunnel, and step on it to set, but that does not work. I originally set it by pressing the end up against a concrete wall. When I do that now, I can get the jaws to open but I cannot find a way to keep them open. There appears to be a latch but I cannot get anything to work.
APlease take a look at this video and see if this helps you to set the trap. If it does not, please give us a call so we can further assist you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-R9iDDVl5g
