    Q
How do you set the Talpirid Mole Trap? Once it has caught a mole, how do you remove the remains?
I didn't understand the customers review of setting the jaws.
    A

We believe the manufacturer explains setting the trap and removing the remains best. Please take a few minutes to read over the illustrated instructions: Talpirid Mole Trap Instructions. We have provided the link here for your convenience, but the instructions link is always available on the Talpirid Mole Trap page.

    Q
I have a small dog and garden cat. Is the Talpirid trap safe to set with them wandering around my yard?
    A
When the trap is in use the forks or business end of the trap is actually underground and won't be exposed to your pets. If you are worried that they can potentially disturb the Talpirid trap you can put a 5 gallon bucket over the trap to make it inaccessible to your pets.

    Q
How do I reset the Talpirid mole trap?
I set the mole trap, and the large yellow part came up indicating a capture. When I removed the trap, there was no mole, but the jaws were closed together. I am trying to re set it but cannot figure out how. I put in into the ground above another mole tunnel, and step on it to set, but that does not work. I originally set it by pressing the end up against a concrete wall. When I do that now, I can get the jaws to open but I cannot find a way to keep them open. There appears to be a latch but I cannot get anything to work.

    Q
Would the Talpirid Mole Trap work for voles also?
Still not sure what the critters are, had "professional exterminators", told me they are voles, but never caught any... What the cat got thou, looks like a mole. Would the trap work for both? The "impeller" traps we have now didn't kill either. Our 5 ac yard is a MESS!
    A

The Talpirid Mole Trap is only labeled to trap moles. For more information on the products that we carry for controllig voles, please click on the link below. Please let us know if you need anything else.

    Q
The Manufactures directions(video) are about worthless is there something better?
I'd like to try these style trap but the directions just don't cut it. You can't see the mole tunnel when they are 'placing' it in, looks like a bit of loose dry dirt they are filming in. Using your foot for a 1 inch indentation then a shovel to make a bigger hole over a non existent tunnel in the pile of dry dirt is a terrible demonstration. Are they really this difficult to use?
    A

We are sorry that you are having trouble understanding the Talpirid Mole Trap. Anytime you are trapping, you just want to be sure first that you are placing the traps in active runways. Once you have determined where you need to place the traps, then you are making space for the jaws of the trap to go into the run itself, and then the divots on the side are to secure the trap in place in the ground. So the shovel is used along the sides of the runway to secure the trap in the ground. This is a very strong trap which does require quite a bit of force to set, even with your foot, so you may want to consider using Talpirid Mole Bait as an alternative or additional treatment. Let us know if you have other questions or concerns anytime.

    Q
Worms didn't work; move to trap?
I ordered two packages of the Talprid worms last year and distributed them as directed, and never got rid of the mole(s) in my yard. In viewing the images of mole surface tunnels, hills and holes I'm 95% sure it's moles and not voles that I'm dealing with (I live in central New Jersey; not sure we even have voles here?). Anyway I don't want to step in any more holes in my lawn and have it looking ratty again; the trap sounds promising but just want to make sure it's what I really need. Thanks!
    A

We would recommend trying the traps if you were unsuccessful with the bait. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article for additional information.
