Before the launch of Talstar EZ granular insecticide, we sent our product to over 30 sites across the country including Florida, Louisiana, California & Texas. We asked 20 applicators to try our new granular formulation on their toughest pests. They treated over 500,000 square feet, and here’s what they had to say:
100% of the respondents thought that Talstar EZ was easy to calibrate.
94% of the people that responded were pleased with the product when it arrived.
94% were pleased with the dispersible granule matrix.
Talstar EZ Granular Insecticide Provides Outstanding Control of Turf and Perimeter Pests
USE: Talstar granules is generally used in two ways: It can be applied as a perimeter barrier directed in a five to ten foot band around your home, or it can be generally broadcast over your entire yard including landscaped areas. A normal application usually consists of three to five pounds of product. We recommend applying Talstar PL granules with a hand spreader. One 25lb. bag covers 5,000-10,000 square feet. Always read the label.
FOR CONTROL OF SCORPIONS
To ensure optimum control, treat the building perimeter at dusk to prevent outdoor scorpions from entering the building. Scorpions reside hidden in cracks and voids during the day and are active at night at temperatures above 77ºF/25ºC. Resting areas can be identified at night using a blacklight (UV bulb) as scorpions will fluoresce. These areas should also be treated. Prior to treatment, to increase treatment efficacy, remove trash, debris, or firewood that scorpions may use as resting sites.
Active Ingredient Rate per Acre 0.2 - 0.4 lbs. ai/A
Talstar PL Rate per Acre 100 - 200 lbs.
Talstar PL Rate per 1000 sq ft 2.3 - 4.6 lbs.
RESTRICTIONS:
Do not apply more than 0.2 lb. active ingredient (a.i.) per acre per application on residential use sites (i.e., around private homes, apartment buildings, condominiums, non-agricultural outbuildings, non-commercial greenhouses, pre-schools or day care facilities). May be applied at up to 0.4 lb. a.i. per acre per application on non-residential use sites (i.e., around institutional, public, commercial or industrial buildings; parks; recreational areas or athletic fields).
Do not broadcast apply more than 0.4 lbs. A.I. (200 lbs. Talstar PL Granular) per Acre per year.

High praise!
By Donna on October 11, 2008We bought Talstar EZ Granular Insecticide the first year we bought our house because we had dogs and so did the people before us. We had no signs of ant beds anywhere. This past year we forgot to do the yard and we have piles of ants all over. So we just did the yard again and never will we forget to use Talstar again. It also keeps fleas out of the yard so our dogs never suffer. We praise Talstar EZ to all our friends.

Worked longer than expected
By B on May 20, 2008Love this stuff! You claim it controls ants for 2-3 months; I use it once a year after a rainy spring & it lasts all year! Thank you for supplying Talstar EZ insecticide to the general public. An exterminator would cost SEVERAL hundred dollars. Thanks again!

Best Insecticide
By S. on March 12, 2011
Verified Purchase
We live in FL and this is the best product for controlling fire ants and ticks, among toher pests that invade FL. One year we used a professional service and we were invaded by ticks. We went back to Talstar and haven't had a problem since. And I must comment on Do My Own Pest Control, the service was great. We couldn't believe how quickly we received our order and the price was great.

Watch Spreader Setting with Scotts Mini Edge Guard Spreader
By Geoff on May 31, 2010
Verified Purchase
Put this product down two weeks ago-seems good, but it remains to be seen whether it works or not for a mole cricket problem for which I bought it. Once I started to spread it, I realized that the recommended spreader setting for a Scotts spreader needed to be drastically reduced to about a 3 (I have a Scotts Mini Edge Guard Spreader) if I wanted it to last for the entire 5,000 sq ft coverage stated.

The Scorpion Hunter!
By PJ on May 8, 2011
Verified Purchase
I have been purchasing Talstar P in both liquid and granular from DMOPC for about 2 years now, nothing beats this insecticide for Scorpion control. I used to find about 20-30 scorpions per night, now I find a few but they are dead bodies! I have only seen 1-2 live ones and they are usually coming from my neighbors yard! DMOPC is great, fast accurate service and best of all a reasonable price! Thank you for helping me do what the experts out here could not!

LOOSE GRANULAR'S
By William on November 23, 2012
Verified Purchase
When I opened the box containing the talstar ez granular package, there were lots of loose granular's (maybe a cupfull) that spilled on the floor when handling the box containing the talstar insecticide. i thought the plastic bag must have had a hole in it, but I couldn't find any damage to the plastic bag containing the insecticide. i suppose a bag that had a hole in it must have been put into the box first and then removed after a hole was discovered in the original bag. the shipping dept. Should have cleaned out the box after discovering the damaged bag so that the insecticide granular's would not have gotten over a vast area of our floor. Thanks

Scorpion Defense Zone
By Hilditch on October 2, 2012I have been using this product as a perimeter defense to keep the scorpions out of the house for many years. As they like to come in the house the spring and fall I broadcast the granules 10 - 15' all around the house in early spring and early fall. It works. It works great and lasts for 6 months by slowly dissolving and keeps the scorpions in the woods. It also keeps the ants away as another benefit. Great stuff with fast service! Hilditch

Talstar EZ granular insecticide
By Erika on September 11, 2012My neighbor's lawn guy (we do our own yard) told me we had chinch bugs and recommended Talstar. I first tried the other version but liked this EZ granular one better for my spreader to cover the entire yard. The other one came out too fast because it had very tiny granules. I used it first about 3 1/2 months ago as it will last for 3 months...within a couple of weeks, my grass started coming back and filling in the gaps left by the chinch bugs. My neighbor's lawn guy told me to do 2 applications 3 months apart because the chinch bugs may try to come back. I just put my 2nd application down yesterday. So far, so good! Highly recommend!

This stuff really works!
By Jim on August 21, 2012Received my 2x bags of product in record time and spread it out on my lawn... I have an acre I should have set my Scotts spreader to 2 instead 2.5... but otherwise it covered almost 90% of my lawn... and almost all bug activity is gone (FIRE ANTS!). I just have little ants, which I was told they never go away... but everything else is pretty much gone... So I would recommend and I will buy this product again when the need presents itself.

Good Stuff!!
By Shannon on August 15, 2012This is the 2nd year we've been infested w/millipedes. Bought every product made @ store and spent $400 w/exterminator last yr another $300 this yr, and he didn't do a very gd job. Ordered the Talstar products, granules and liquid for a very small fraction of the price and haven't looked back! These are the only products that do anything for millipedes. You will notice results right away.

GREAT STUFF!!
By Kathy on June 22, 2012The product is wonderful and really seems to work, and after one application I saw results. I have tried quite a few products from local home depots, but this is by far the best of all products out there. I recommend to all who have problems with any insects, my problem was with ants.

September 23, 2010Mark asked:
QCan Talstar EZ Granular be spread where vegetables are grown?
I had an exterminator over to control ants, and she distributed the Talstar EZ Granulars at the base of my vegetable garden.
Is that going to be a problem when I grow vegetables in the same dirt next season? Has it made the dirt toxic? Please advise...Thanks!
AYou should not use Talstar in a vegetable garden. Talstar EZ granules will breakdown in the soil after several months, so your garden plot should be fine to use next spring. If you are worried the soil may be contaminated still, you can also remove the first few inches of soil and replace it with fresh soil.
March 20, 2011Earl asked:
QI need spreader settings for Talstar EZ Granules using a Scott Acura Green 1000 drop spreader.
A We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for you needs is outlined below: If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,00 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft). If you have product left, your setting is too low. If you run out of product, your setting is too high
March 14, 2010Stacey asked:
QDoes the Talstar Granular Insecticide also help control termites?
ANo, Talstar granules would not be a good option when treating for termites. Talstar granules and other liquid products that are meant for pest control are applied to the surface of the ground and are really only meant for treating insects that walk across the ground. Termites enter the home from underground and never make it to the surface of the ground. Therefore they never come into contact with the product on the surface. For proper termite protection you have to dig a trench and place product in the trench or under the ground. For treating termites we recommend Dominion 2L which is one of our best sellers for professional termite protection. You should also read our "How to do a Termite Treatment" article which will explain exactly how to treat for termites just like a professional company would.
May 19, 2011Terra asked:
QWhat setting do I use on my Scott's EdgeGuard Mini to apply the Talstar EZ granules?
AUnfortunately we don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for you needs is outlined below:
If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft). If you have product left, your setting is too low. If you run out of product, your setting is too high
June 24, 2012Dave from Eveleth,minnesota asked:
QCan you spray Talstar P in a vegetable garden and on flowers?
ATalstar P can be used on flowers. While Talstar P is known to be gentle we still recommend that you test 1 or 2 plants before spraying all of them. Talstar P cannot be used on edible vegetation of any kind. We do carry a full line of products that can be used on edible plants: Edible Garden Products
September 7, 2009Dawn asked:
QCan you give me a full list of all the insects the Talstar EZ covers?
APlease follow this link to the product label for Talstar EZ. It has the full list of covered insects.
October 6, 2010Patrick asked:
QWill Talstar EZ take care of grubs in the lawn and/or planting areas?
ANo. Talstar EZ is not labeled for grubs. Talstar EZ is formulated with a synthetic pyrethroid active ingredient called bifenthrin. Bifenthrin binds too readily with the soil and cannot penetrate deeply enough to be effective for grubs. We recommend Merit granules for treatment of grubs in your yard.
April 1, 2012Paul from Omaha, Ne asked:
QWhen should I apply Talstar EZ Insecticide for mole crickets?
Do you have something of a more specific time of year to apply? I read the label, but its too vague for me. I'm trying to control mole crickets, and need to know what months to apply.
AThe Talstar EZ product label is a bit vague when it comes to application timing because the timing will vary greatly from one region of the country to another. You should contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to inquire about the best time to apply products for mole cricket control in your area.
June 6, 2012John from Oklahoma asked:
QHow long is an application of Talstar EZ effective against ticks?
Deer frequently enter our backyard and re-introduce ticks. How long will a single application last before I have to re-apply?
Also, is this product effective against chiggers?
AThe manufacturer is a little vague about how long an application of Talstar EZ might last for tick control because of the complicated life cycle of some ticks. In general you may want to reapply Talstar EZ every month during the tick season. Talstar EZ is not labeled for chiggers. In fact we cannot find any granules that are labeled for chiggers. We do carry several liquid concentrates that are labeled for both ticks and chiggers such as Demand CS, Talstar P and Tempo SC Ultra.
