AROUND THE PERIMETER... Talstar multi-insecticide creates a long-lasting barrier against insect pests. Keep roaches, ants and other insects out of your home in the first place by treating the perimeter foundation every 2-3 months.

Talstar One multi-insecticide is the only insecticide you'll ever need.
Talstar One insecticide has all the features and benefits you've come to rely on from the Talstar® brand of products. It has the proven performance and protection of its active ingredient, bifenthrin. It has long residual control of termites and 75 other pests. Its broad label includes everything from pre- and post-construction termite treatment, indoor and outdoor pest control, turf and ornamental applications, and food-handling areas.
Talstar One is formulated for long-lasting effectiveness.
Talstar One multi-insecticide has the active ingredient bifenthrin, which has a unique chemical structure like that of no other pyrethroid. For termite control, that means the longest average residual in the industry and a retreat rate well below industry averages. In fact, Talstar One is averaging more than 12 years at 100% control in all USDA testing sites and 16 years and still counting at USDA sites in Florida and Arizona. Plus it provides a barrier that termites can't penetrate, for superior structural protection.
Talstar One has one of the most complete labels of any insecticide:
Talstar has a broad label you can count on. A true miticide, Talstar One controls over 75 different pests -- everything from spiders, mosquitoes, cockroaches, ticks and fleas to pillbugs, chinch bugs, earwigs and millipedes. It provides fast knockdown and long lasting control of even the toughest lawn and ornamental pests. Plus, it controls all species of ants knocking them out and keeping them out with long-lasting residual.
Talstar One is tough on pests and easy on everything else:
Talstar One multi-insecticide is water based and contains no alpha cyano group. That means you can use it inside and out. You can apply it to a larger perimeter area. It is non-irritating, non-staining and contains no odorous or plant-damaging solvents. It's even labeled for food-handling areas. And it's compatible with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and liquid fertilizers. Plus, once it dries, it is virtually impossible to tell where it has been sprayed. So there are no unsightly residues and phytotoxicity.

Works better than Diazinon
By Jay on September 18, 2008I bought a quart of Talstar One two years ago. It works better than I would've imagined. I spray around the perimeter of house about 2-3 times a year and it keeps any and all pests away. I used Diazinon before but those results pale in comparison to Talstar One. I hope you have this product for a long time to come.

Does not break down quickly in sunlight
By William on July 2, 2008Talstar P is an excellent product because it is so persistent and does not break down. Most phosphor based products break down the moment they are expose to sunlight. This one will not. We have an open ditch behind our property that used to be the home to millions of mosquitoes - not anymore. I spray about 200 ft of the ditch in either direction twice a year, using a total of perhaps 30 oz of Talstar a year, and we have been mosquito free for three years.

Great Stuff
By Linda on April 30, 2010We live in the high desert of Northern AZ where there are scorpions, millipedes and lots of other nasty insects. Within a matter of weeks after moving into our new house the scorpions started showing up inside the house. We have several dogs and cats and I was concerned for their safety as well as our own. A friend recommended a professional pest control company and things improved dramatically after the first treatment. We signed up for regular treatment which was every 3 months. Unfortunately, it was to their schedule which seemed to constantly change and it became extremely inconvenient for us. They would even want to spray while it was raining. The last time the pest control guy was here my husband asked what they used and the guy was more than willing to tell him that it was Talstar P. After my husband told me the name I Googled it and found DoMyOwnPestControl. We then decided to do our own pest control and not be at the mercy of someone elses schedule. It's very easy, effective and, needless to say, costs a LOT less money - one quart lasted us almost two years and cost about the same as one of the pest control company's visits. More importantly we spray at the optimum time and under the best weather conditions.

Read the directions, spray it yourself & save big!
By Karen on July 23, 2009It seems our entire street lives on an ant hill, because we could not keep those varmints out for long. I was paying $75 per quarter for pest control in our house and outside as well. I read the directions, applied a band around the outside perimeter, windows and doorways of our home and I have not seen one bug, ant, or anything for the past 2 months. We have had rainy and exceptionally dry weather, too. I highly recommend Talstar One.

Best stuff I have ever used
By Garry on May 11, 2013OK so here it goes. Mix it according to directions or just a TADD stronger. Then Spray around the outside of the building with a 2 foot spray pattern from the walls. Make sure that all pet foods and water is not in the spray pattern area. I also sprayed all along my fence/block wall line from my neighbors property just in case that they had more bugs then I had. I also sprayed inside the house. When I did this I had removed all contents from every cabinet and drawer. Then I took out the last drawers and sprayed there. Make sure that you wash all dishes just in case I had contaminated the area. Make sure that you have now food in these areas and this includes pet foods. Now I want you to understand that you are doing this because you a BUG PROBLEM. Do not skimpy out on any of the steps. The next thing is to respray about every two weeks after tat for a month total. The reason for this is because you will kill the bugs running around but you wont kill all of the bugs that are in casing / eggs. Some bugs lay them very often and the spray may or will not penetrate them on contact until the bug has hatched from what ever they are encased in. The reason you need to do this that often is because of the mating cycles of these little critters. I have to tell you this is the best stuff I have ever used. When I do spray I usually have to vacuum up and sweep up outside all of the dead varmints that are laying around. It is truly amazing. Good luck and have fun. By the way you are not supposed to do t his but the average exterminator charges are quit high so you can save a lot of money doing this yourself and probably do a lot better job. If you do your friends places it is illegal to charge them unless you are licensed HINT HINT:::::: The bug man I had come to my home was 80 dollars per month and he came out twice a month for only a short time. This can be expensive so you do the math and see what you can save and how much money you can make. Did I SAY THAT OOPS. One more thing. I am going to buy a gallon the next time just in case we get some government regulation that say you can no longer buy this on the net or even at all. At least this will keep me supplied for a very long time. Good luck

Talstar P
By Mark on April 25, 2013Been using this product for 3 years now. Where I live there is normally ant problems 6 months out of the year. Since I started using this product, I simply spray the pine trees in the spring when the ants come out of the trees. This takes care of the problem for the rest of the year. I also spray around the house foundation. Does a great job on mosquitoes. Spraying the lawn twice a year takes care of the problem. You won't find an insecticide that is this effective at lowe's, Home Depot, Grange Co-Op etc.

Excellent Product

I have used Talstar P for 3 years now in combination with Archer IGR and both products do a great job in controlling the fleas, ticks and other bugs we have around our home. Talstar is my quick kill go-to, with the Archer being the long term solution to most all our buggy issues in this part of Florida. I have recommended both products to friends and they have also ordered from Do My Own Pest Control. Your customer service is also excellent and your pricing is in line.

So far, so good with it
By Paul on April 22, 2013I would give it five stars, but I just applied it 3 weeks ago and just haven't seen how it will do over the long haul. Stopped seeing nusance bugs (red/black box elders) immediately and have not since application. Applied to the entire base perimeter and it seems to be doing well.

June 4, 2010 James asked:
QWhat is the correct mixture of Talstar P for indoor and outdoor prevention.
The mixture would be for roaches, silverfish, and ants etc. We have tree roaches and have controlled them with a professional exterminator till now. We will use inside and outside.
AFor the initial application and in areas where pest populations are high you should use 1 oz of Talstar per gallon of water for indoor and outdoor use. For maintenance applications you can use 1/2 ounce of Talstar per gallon of water.
September 2, 2010 Peter asked:
QWhich product is more recommended for termites Talstar P or Termidor SC?
My home was originally treated with Talstar 72 from the builder 5 years ago.
ATermidor SC is the #1 termite product on the market. When used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor SC will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Termidor SC is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony. Termidor SC controls all types of termites including subterranean, formosan, and drywood termites. Talstar P lasts for about 5 years in the ground and works as a repellent, killing only those insects that come into contact with the treated area.
March 15, 2011 Lucinda asked:
QShelf life of Talstar?
How long does the unused portion of the pesticide retain it's strength and effectiveness after opening?
AThe manufacturer gives Talstar P and Bifen a shelf life of 3 years as long as you keep the top on the bottle and you do not store it in direct sunlight or in extreme temperatures.
October 15, 2010 John asked:
QIs Talstar safe near dogs and cats?
ATalstar P is safe to use around animals as long as they are out of the area while you are spraying. They can return as soon as the area is dry. Talstar P is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and will not break down easily with rainfall.
March 25, 2011 Regina asked:
QWhat can I use to get rid of Kudzu bugs in GA?
I have little brown bugs all over my porch rails, side of house, windows, etc. There were a few last year, but this past weekend, I noticed many, many more. What is best to keep them away.
A"Kudzu" bugs are a type of stink bug that is an invasive species in the south and has really started to grow as a nuisance in recent years. While there isn't really a repellent product to keep them away from your home you can use a product like Talstar P to kill the bugs that land on treated surfaces. Talstar P can be diluted at a rate of 1 oz of product per gallon of water and applied using a hand pump sprayer on the areas that you mentioned (do not spray on top of porch railings where people place there hands frequently)

Mark from Denver, Co asked:
QWhat product to use on evergreen trees and aspens to protect against insects?
I want to protect my landscaping trees from insects. None of the plants are edible.
ATalstar P is a great general use insecticide and can be used on trees, bushes and other ornamental plants and it labeled for many kinds of plant infesting insects. You should note that almost all insecticides have the potential to make evergreen trees loose a bit of their color.

Martin from Indianola Iowa asked:
QWhat is the best product to use to spray outer perimeter of house for pest control?
AOur most popular general use product is called Talstar. It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets. Aaron from Atlanta, Ga asked:
QHow can I get rid of ground/miner bees that are in a hard to reach juniper bed?
These bees return every year and seem to number in the thousands. There also seems to be more and more each year. They swarm in the heat of the day and are living along the edge of my yard in a massive Juniper bed. The Junipers are mature and thick, so I can't even see their holes/nests, but when they are active, they are very intimidating and create concern for child safty.
A A good treatment of Talstar should help do the trick. However, if the junipers are really thick, then you need to apply quite a bit for the product to get down to the ground where the bees are nesting. http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/talstar-talstar-one-p-97.html

Clyde from Parrish, Fl asked:
QWhat is a good pesticide for Florida?
I live in Florida and would like to know what is a very effective pestiside to use outside. I was also wondering what do the professionals use. So I can do my own pest control. Also we have these very tiny ants that you can barely, you need to get up very close to them and then you can see them crawling on the house. I don't know what they call them but we seem to have quite a bit of them in our area. very tiny tiny ants

Fred from Cheyenne, Wy asked:
QWhat is the best product for eliminating or at least reducing army cut worms?
I believe cut worms develop into millers that invade every crack and crevice every spring and most of the summer here in Wyoming.
ATalstar P is one of the most commonly used products to get rid of army worms in lawns. If you need to treat edible vegetation for this pest a spinosad based product would be recommended such as Captain Jacks Deadbug Brew.

Dan from Pittsburgh Pa asked:
QHow much solution of the Termidor Sc or Talstar P should I spray in the ground were the holes were drilled?
I had my house serviced by a pest co.and they drilled holes every 12 inches, how much solution of the Termidor Sc or Talstar P should I spray in the ground were the holes were drilled(concrete)...Dan
AWe recommend you use the Termidor SC as it is a much better termite control product. Per the product label you will still need to use 4 gallons of finished solution for every 10 linear feet. So if there is 1 hole every 12 inches you should apply .4 gallon of diluted solution per drilled hole to achieve the correct continuous barrier rate. You can use a sprayer with the nozzle adjusted to pinstream to apply the product to the holes or you can use a funnel inserted into the drilled holes and pour the solution in with a bucket.

Danette from Ms asked:
QWhat is the most effective, Talstar PL granules or Talstar P liquid, for ant control for a 3acre area?
I've used the Talstar PL granules twice/yr with success for a 3 plus years. However, if the liquid is just as effective, spaying it with a 30gallon sprayer would be more convenient.
ABoth formulations will provide the same level of control for most insects though the granules are a bit more "time released" and will last a little bit longer than the topical spray.

Dick from Kent Oh asked:
QI have a great crop of moss in my shaded back yard. Will Talstar eliminate it?
ATalstar is an insecticide only and will not have any effect on moss. Burnout Weed and Grass Killer is a non-selective herbicide that is labeled to control moss. You should spray this product only on the moss and avoid getting it on desirable plants.
