Taurus SC with 9.1% Fipronil (the same amount of a.i. as the popular Termidor SC) provides best-in-class control of termites, ants and a wide variety of other insect pests including spiders, roaches, ticks and many more. How Taurus SC Works
Taurus SC Termiticide contains the same active ingredient as the popular Termidor SC, the non-repellent Fipronil. Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole family of insecticides, acting primarily as a GABA inhibitor, attacking the central nervous system of target pests. Fipronil is extremely effective, yet it works slowly enough on target insect pests to take advantage of the natural food-sharing habits of social insects, particularly termites and ants. This means that the fipronil in Taurus SC spreads throughout the entire colony, killing not just those insects that come in contact with the direct spray or residual, but all the others they contact, resulting in colony elimination.
Subterranean termites, ants, cockroaches, occasional perimeter invaders
PESTS CONTROLLED: Ants (acrobat, Argentine, big-headed, carpenter, crazy, odorous, pavement, pharaoh, thief), Asian lady beetles, darkling beetles, Australian cockroaches, Oriental cockroaches, smoky brown cockroaches, Black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, cellar spiders, hobo spiders, Box-elder bugs, Pill bugs, Brown and dog ticks, Centipedes, Cluster flies, European earwigs, House crickets, Millipedes, Paper wasps (NOT a knockdown agent), Silverfish, Yellow jackets, Subterranean termites (including Reticulitermes, Zootermopsis, Heterotermes, Coptotermes)
Taurus SC is a generic version of Termidor SC, the termiticide most widely used by professional pest control companies. Taurus SC is designed for the prevention and treatment of termite infestations, and it can be applied either pre-construction or post-construction. Taurus SC is also labeled for the outdoor perimeter control of many common invaders, most effectively for ants. Because of its efficacy and longevity, termite treatments with Taurus SC may last up to 10 years, and outdoor perimeter treatments only need to be applied twice per year. Taurus SC may also be used in structural wall voids to treat active subterranean termite and ant infestations. Taurus SC is not for general indoor use.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Fipronil 9.1%
Taurus SC Application Instructions
Always read the product label completely before use.
Outside Barrier Treatment:
The main use for Taurus SC is for protection against subterranean termite infestations. To accomplish this, an outside barrier treatment is made in the ground around the foundation of the home that will protect against termites for up to 10 years or more.
First, you will need to dig a 6 inches deep x 6 inches wide trench around the outside foundation wall of the home. Next, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 4 mixed gallons per every 10 lineal feet of trench. It is best to use a 5 gallon bucket and mark off the 4 gallon line, then mix 4 gallons of Taurus SC at a time and pour it in the trench. Allow the solution to soak into the soil and then replace the back-fill, making sure that the back-fill is soaked with Taurus SC as well. When you are done, you should have one contiguous in-ground barrier of Taurus SC all the way around the home.
Treating across slabs of concrete touching the house (such as a back patio or front porch) can be accomplished by using a hammer drill with a 1/2-inch drill bit. Holes are drilled through the concrete approximately 3-4 inches out from the house and every 12 inches across the concrete slab. Please see the product label for more information.
For more information please see the article: How to do a Termite Treatment.
Each 20 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 25 gallons of finished solution. Each 78 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 97 gallons of finished solution.
Standard Application Dilution Rates / Mixing Ratios for Taurus SC
*0.8 fl. oz. (24 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.06% a.i. – most applications, ground termite treatments, ant or other perimeter pest control
*1.2 fl. oz. (35 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.09% a.i. – may be used for active infestations or severe termite pressure
*1.6 oz. (47 mL)/ gal. of water – 0.125% a.i. – areas of dense soil that will not accept a rate of 4 gal. per 10 linear feet; only use 2 gal. per 10 linear feet per foot of depth
*Apply at a rate of 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 linear feet for perimeter termite applications.
*Apply at a rate of 1-1.5 gallon(s) of finished solution per 10 square feet of horizontal ground that will be under concrete slabs (pre-construction)
*For perimeter pest treatments (ants, etc.), apply 2 quarts of 0.06% spray per 160 lineal feet.
Taurus SC is for use in the following areas:
Outside surfaces and along foundation of Residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and utility enclosures; wall voids of listed structures; NOT for indoor use; for pre-construction and post-construction treatment for termites, including concrete structures such as patios, porches, sidewalks and foundation slabs; concrete slab (including monolithic, floating and supported concrete slabs) on ground or in basements; hollow block foundations or voids in masonry; structures with French drains and sump pumps; basement structures; crawl spaces; around bath traps and shower drains; posts, poles, and wood landscape ornamentation
Taurus SC is not for Indoor use. The only permitted use indoors is for active ant or termite infestations in wall voids only.
Treating Live Termite Infestations above ground:
To control Aerial termite colonies or Drywood Termites, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply to infested wooden members or voids. To treat inaccessible areas (for example, if the termite infestation is behind dry wall), drill and inject Taurus SC into the damaged wood of void spaces with a crack and crevice injector. Foam applications can also be made into void spaces.
Termite Control – See general directions above. See our article How to Do a Termite Treatment for more details.
How to Use Taurus SC for Ant Control:
For outdoor control of Ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Make sure to treat the joint where exterior siding (wood, vinyl, aluminum or other similar materials) meets the cement, brick or block foundation. Treat anywhere electrical, cable or telephone wires enter the house. This application should be made only twice per year, in the Spring and Fall. Taurus SC works well enough that only 2 applications per year are needed for effective control.
Also be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.
Taurus SC Termiticide Features
*The same amount of Fipronil as Termidor SC for less
*Easier, faster, and more effective than termite bait stations
*Foam applications may be made in voids for above ground termite infestations.
*Broad labeling for control of perimeter pests
*Convenient tip-and-pour bottle eliminates the need for other measuring equipment.
*Do not make applications when precipitation is occurring.
*Do not treat soil that is water-saturated or frozen.
*Do not apply Taurus SC in any way that may contaminate a water source or within 5 feet of a well or cistern. Treatment within 5-10 feet of wells or cisterns must be done by backfill method only (removing the dirt to be treated and replacing it after it has been treated elsewhere or in a container such as a wheelbarrow).
*Do not treat edible vegetation or treat within one food out from the drip line of edible plants.
*Do not exceed 2 applications per year for perimeter pests.
*Do not apply to pet quarters or to playground equipment.

IT WORKS!!! Three days after the perimeter of my house was sprayed, no more ants! In twelve years Taurus SC is the only thing that has even touched the ant problem. Now they're gone!

This is a 9.1% suspension of the same active ingredient in Frontline used for treatment against fleas and ticks on domestic animals. It is a non-repelling insecticide. Following the directions for termite treatment I trenched at the perimeter of my home, sprayed and put the dirt back in. I also treated my beech trees by selective injection along the drip lines and allow the root system to translocate the product up the trunks and branches of the trees. This way I avoided unnecessary and indiscriminate killing of beneficial insects such as honey bees. The product works great. It has been two years since I treated my property. So far no signs of harm to good insects because my flowering trees and plants are pollenating just fine. I have no carpenter ants in my yard. Two years carpenter ants were very active. I have recommended this product to my homeowner's association and we are actively trying to save our neighborhood beech trees from the impending woolly beech aphid invasion. One word of caution, follow the directions and apply the product just before insects are actively foraging.

This product is very handy to use with the squeezable pre-measured dispenser with separate cap. It allows the user to measure small amounts to apply in tight spaces when a watering can is used and only one or two gallons are needed at a time. Complete instructions are attached to the bottle so you always have them handy for reference. The same stuff the professionals use at a fraction of the cost!

The termidor brand really works, so I hope this will to. I spray around three different houses every three months and never have ants. Before, I had them all the time no matter what I sprayed with.

Reorder of product. 5 stars again.
By Tedd in Chesterfield, MO on June 14, 2015
After a perfect rating on my first order and delivery of Taurus SC I decided to complete the job and treat the whole house perimeter. The reorder and delivery went as smoothly as possible and once again DoMyOwnPestControl earned 5 stars. I would recommend this company without hesitation if the opportunity ever arises.

This product works great, we moved into our home only to find it had carpenter ant issues. I tried several products sold at various hardware stores that did help control the ants; but, never eliminated the issues. After some research I did some work around the house to deter ants, located the nests and bought some Taurus SC. I sprayed my homes perimiter, ant trails, trees used by the ants and the ant nests...in 3 days no more issues at all. I rarely see any carpenter ants around the property now and we had a huge problem......huge. I love this product and will never waste my time spraying anyhing else.

Easy to use
By Aubrey in Mt. Vernon on April 26, 2015
I used the trenching method around my house. The Taurus SC is easy to meter out with the built in .8 OZ measuring container. The Taurus SC was odorless and left no visible residue on the foundation. I used the recommended 4 gallon of diluted mixture per 10' of trench. In one location in the trench I found an area that soaked up the treatment at a much higher rate than the rest of the trench. As this was in an area that I'd seen winged termites, suspected this was tunneling from subterranean nest. In any case I've not seen any termites since treatment. Am hopeful this has taken care of my termites.

Thanks to Control Solutions
By Milton in Rossville, TN on February 19, 2015
Thanks to Control Solutions for bringing a generic fipronil to the market! Instead of paying 10-100 times more than what a farmer would pay for an agricultural version of fipronil, Taurus costing is actually less. Competition also makes quality products more accessible. Fipronil works great on many insects, especially what I term as colony insects such as ants, termites, wasps, yellow jackets, etc. Applying the product according to the label where it can be brought back to the nest is the most effective way to rid your property of many of the worst pests. If it worked on spiders like it does ants and wasps, it would be the perfect insecticide. Be careful not to use around flowering plants as honey bees can pick up the fipronil in nectar and carry it to the hive.

Kathy from Houston, Tx asked:
QIs Taurus SC as effective on termites as it is on ants?
I just came across termites in the garage which is connected to the house. I NEED to know that this product will absolutely lambaste these critters!!! I've read rave reviews about ants...can I look for the same with termites? HELP, PLEASE!!!!
AFipronil, the active ingredient in Taurus, is known to be the best product on the market for termite control. Be sure to read the product label to make sure you are doing the treatment correctly. Our instructions, How to do a Termite Treatment can also be very helpful for homeowners.

Trina from Lahoma, Ok asked:

Mandi from Peoria asked:
QCan I use Gravel/crushed rock for the backfill after treatment?
After digging the trench and treating the whole house for termites can i use crushed rock/gravel foe the backfill? For ease of future treatments instead of digging the trench again in 5-10 years couldn't we just pour through the gravel?
AYou do not want to use grave/crushed rock as your backfill after a termite treatment. Termidor does not bond to rock, it bonds to soil, so if you fill in the trench with gravel, the termidor will not stick to it and it will leave you with a 6x6 area of completely unprotected surface that the termites could pass through to get directly to your home. We understand that the digging of the trench is a pain, but it must be done each time and it must be backfilled with dirt, and the dirt that is backfilled must be treated as well if you want your home properly and completely protected.

Jim from White Lake, Michigan asked:
QI want to spray treat around my boat house; how close to the lake should Taurus Sc be?
A Taurus SC Termiticide should only be applied around the outside perimeter of the sturcture 1 foot up and out. You do not want to apply anywhere where it could run off into lake. It is toxic to aquatic life. Be sure that the application is at least 15 feet from lake.
June 11, 2015
Drew from Lafayette In asked:
QWill Taurus sc kill flowers and plants in my landscape?
A Taurus sc will not harm flowers. Be sure that you are only applying Taurus sc 1 foot up and out around the outside perimeter of the structure.

Tom from Ny, Ny asked:
QCrawl space under my family room
I got a crawl space under my family room and surrounding by concrete blocks. It is below ground. I found termites in that area. I just started trenching 6x6" outside around my house. Do I still need to trench my crawl space under my family room?
A For a termite treatment, you will want to trench around and treat the soil surrounding any part of your home that touches the ground. This means that you would treat the crawlspace area the same as you would around the exterior of your home. Dig a 6x6 inch deep trench around any post or cinder blocks in the crawlspace and pour the Taurus SC mixture into that soil.

Sherry from Norfolk, Va asked:
QCan Taurus SC be diluted enough to use indoors, or other similar product in bulk?- must contain fipronil. Trying to end Cheyletiella mite infestation. I've been going through hell for over a year. This mite spreads from bunny rabbits to dog and cats, and will also feast on keratin layer of human skin. Infests the home environment and can live off it's host from 2 days to several weeks. The eggs can be laid and hatch from anywhere - fabric, the floor, clothing, etc. It's taken me over 9 months to identify the problem, now I cannot get rid of it. Fipronil spray works on my pet, but I need to treat the inside of my home with a more economical solution in bulk that will work for good. Any help much appreciated!
Taurus SC is NOT labeled for mites or indoor applications. We do not contain a fipronil product that is labeled for this type of application indoors or for the specific insect that you are treating. We highly recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a product selection that will best fit your needs with this particular active ingredient.

Vann from Dunn asked:
QHow much Taurus solution per ace from a pull behind sprayer?
A Taurus SC should NOT be applied in a pull behind sprayer for insect control. It should be applied up against the structure in a trench for termites and topically for ant control directly against the foundation using a hand pump sprayer. Please let us know what insect you are targeting and we will gladly assist you.
April 23, 2015
QCan Taurus SC be used in an attic?
Taurus SC should NOT be applied indoors including the attic. It should only be applied directly to the exterior of the structure.
March 31, 2015 Jessica asked:
QHow do we properly dispose of extra mixed solution of Taurus SC?
A We recommend that you check with your local sanitation department for proper disposal instructions in your area.

Lin from Penn Valley, Ca asked:
QIf I trench and treat the outside of the foundation must I treat the crawl space side as well?
Is it necessary to trench and treat both sides of the foundation? I realize it is important to treat the piers in the crawl space.
A When using a product like Taurus SC, so long as you trench the outside wall of the foundation and the piers in the crawl space, you do not have to trench the inside wall of the foundation.
March 26, 2015
Bob from Milan Il 61264 asked:
QWill Taurus SC kill plants?
Taurus SC states to not use the product within one foot of the drip line of edible plants, but does not mention ornamentals or non-edibles. To make sure your plants will be safe, please contact contact the manufacturer, Control Solutions. Their phone number is (630) 806-7062.

Brett from San Francisco asked:
QIs it safe to apply Taurus SC in a crawl space as a surface spray for ants/termites?
Also, do I need to wear a ventilator or mask when applying?
A Yes, Taurus SC can be used as a general spray around the foundation of the crawlspace for ants, however it will not be as effective on termites unles you do a proper termite trench treatment inside the crawl space areas. We would recommend using a mask like the N95 valved respirator mask when applying the product in tight areas with low air flow like a crawl space.
