Taurus SC with 9.1% Fipronil (the same amount of a.i. as the popular Termidor SC) provides best-in-class control of termites, ants and a wide variety of other insect pests including spiders, roaches, ticks and many more. Taurus SC is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests, allowing them touch, ingest and spread the insecticide throughout the entire colony. For termites, Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average, and ant infestations can be controlled in just a few weeks.
How to Use Taurus SC for Termite Control:
Outside Barrier Treatment:
The main use for Taurus SC is for protection against subterranean termite infestations. To accomplish this, an outside barrier treatment is made in the ground around the foundation of the home that will protect against termites for up to 10 years or more.
First, you will need to dig a 6 inch deep x 6 inch wide trench around the outside foundation wall of the home. Next, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 4 mixed gallons per every 10 lineal feet of trench. It is best to use a 5 gallon bucket and mark off the 4 gallon line, then mix 4 gallons of Taurus SC at a time and pour it in the trench. Allow the solution to soak into the soil and then replace the back-fill, making sure that the back-fill is soaked with Taurus SC as well. When you are done, you should have one contiguous in-ground barrier of Taurus SC all the way around the home.
Treating across slabs of concrete touching the house (such as a back patio or front porch) can be accomplished by using a hammer drill with a 1/2-inch drill bit. Hoels are drilled through the concrete approximately 3-4 inches out from the house and every 12 inches across the concrete slab. Please see the product label for more information.

Treating Live Termite Infestations above ground:
To control Aerial termite colonies or Drywood Termites, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply to infested wooden members or voids. To treat inaccessible areas (for example, if the termite infestation is behind dry wall), drill and inject Taurus SC into the damaged wood of void spaces with a crack and crevice injector. Foam applications can also be made into void spaces.
How to Use Taurus SC for Ant Control:
For outdoor control of Ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Make sure to treat the joint where exterior siding (wood, vinyl, aluminum or other similar materials) meets the cement, brick or block foundation. Treat anywhere electrical, cable or telephone wires enter the house. This application should be made only twice per year, in the Spring and Fall. Taurus SC works well enough that only 2 applications per year are needed for effective control.
Also be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.

Excellent product

It allows the user to measure small amounts to apply in tight spaces when a watering can is used and only one or two gallons are needed at a time. Complete instructions are attached to the bottle so you always have them handy for reference. The same stuff the professionals use at a fraction of the cost!

Taurus SC
By Wally on June 12, 2012This is a 9.1% suspension of the same active ingredient in Frontline used for treatment against fleas and ticks on domestic animals. It is a non-repelling insecticide. Following the directions for termite treatment I trenched at the perimeter of my home, sprayed and put the dirt back in. I also treated my beech trees by selective injection along the drip lines and allow the root system to translocate the product up the trunks and branches of the trees. This way I avoided unnecessary and indiscriminate killing of beneficial insects such as honey bees. The product works great. It has been two years since I treated my property. So far no signs of harm to good insects because my flowering trees and plants are pollenating just fine. I have no carpenter ants in my yard. Two years carpenter ants were very active. I have recommended this product to my homeowner's association and we are actively trying to save our neighborhood beech trees from the impending woolly beech aphid invasion. One word of caution, follow the directions and apply the product just before insects are actively foraging.

Taurus killed Texas Leaf Cutter ants

If you live on sandy soil near the Tx Gulf Coast, you may have Tx Leaf Cutter ants. They are large red ants that march along trails to climb up and completely denude your fruit trees and ornamentals in a day!! They are impossible to kill! Nothing you can buy locally fazes them. But Taurus sprayed around the mound killed them off in one day. The underground portion of the mound is immense with multiple queens but the fipronil will pass from ant to ant on their bodies and kill the whole lot of them I hope. I am ready to retreat if they show their heads again!! I have Plenty of Taurus in my $54 bottle. Best garden/farm supply money I've spent in a long time!

Move in to a new house few months ago and I've spent maybe $35+ worth of home depot/Lowes off -the shelf products, such as bait and spray version. Black Ants Are GONE
By Ant on October 23, 2012I typically don't write reviews about products but after using Taurus SC I felt compelled to let other readers know how impressed I am with this product. For months I've been fighting nasty little black (Argentine?) ants in my kitchen and outside the house in multiple places. Within 24 hours of application the ant population outside of the home had been reduced by 60 - 70 percent. This slowed down the foraging little critters from coming into the home and within 1-2 days there are NO more ants in the house. 3 days later I cannot find any ants around my property. The spider population has also disappeared. It's a great feeling to know that I can use the same chemicals that the local pest control service uses but I can do it myself and save hundreds of dollars. Booyah! Sorry pest control guy.

stone cold killer
By Alex on September 25, 2012this product is the real deal. dont forget to wear a mask and long sleeves when spraying if its windy. i used this in the evening and by morning i could see a blanket of rust on my back porch step..it wasnt rust, it was dead ants, by the thousands! it has also eradicated my carpenter ant problem, thats why i bought it.

ANo it does not have any restrictions. Homeowners can buy both the 20 oz. bottles and the 78 oz. bottles.

ATaurus SC is nothing like Dursban, however we do not know if the person that has reactions to Dursban would have a reaction to Taurus. We recommend that you contact that persons physician for further advice.

ATaurus is a great product for ant control but it can only be used on or within one foot of a structure. You cannot use Taurus out in the lawn as this type of treatment is prohibited by the Taurus product label. AWhile Taurus SC may actually kill scorpions that cross over treated areas we do not recommend it for scorpion control because it can take many days for insects to die after crossing over treated areas. Instead you should consider using Cy-Kick CS or Demon WP which will stay up on porous treated surfaces a bit better and will offer a much faster kill.
