Termidor SC
  • Alternate Image 1

Termidor SC (the SC stands for Suspended Concentrate) is an excellent professional termite control product for killing termites and protecting your home from future infestations. In addition to its superior protection against termites, Termidor is an excellent do it yourself pest control product to have on hand as it also kills ant colonies, as well as many other insect pests. Termidor will protect your home and eliminate almost any termite problem in less than 90 days. In addition, when used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Termidor is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony. Termidor controls all types of termites including subterranean, formosan, and drywood termites.

Termidor SC is also one of the best outdoor ant control products that money can buy. An exterior above ground spray one foot up and one foot out is all you need to knock out ant colonies and carpenter ants trying to invade your home!

Want to know how to get rid of crazy rasberry ants or how to treat crazy rasberry ants?  Termidor is the answer for crazy rasberry ant control, as well as all other ant species.

Termidor is labeled for OUTDOOR use only.  It can only be used indoors to spot treat termite or insect activity inside wall voids (for example when treating a live termite infestation in a wall void) .  It cannot be used indoors for ant or pest control other than inside wall voids.

Termidor CANNOT be used on pets for any reason. Termidor SC is not labeled for fire ants and cannot be used out in yards for ant mound control.

How Termidor SC Works

Advanced undetectable technology
Termidor is made from a revolutionary new nonrepellent or "undetectable" chemical technology treatment. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid Termidor. Instead they contact, ingest, and share it with their nestmates. This is in sharp contrast to older liquid termite controls, which rely on repellent barriers that termites can find breaks in or avoid completely.

The "Transfer Effect"
Termites who contact Termidor transfer it to every other termite they in turn contact, in a unique process called the "Transfer Effect." And because Termidor is engineered to be slow-acting, termites have ample time to spread it throughout their entire termite population.

Better than bait... without the wait
Baits can take years to control a termite colony. Termidor begins working immediately to wipe out termites inside and immediately surrounding your home. Termidor is the most effective and fastest at completely eliminating termite populations--up to six-times faster than bait.

Termidor for Ant Control:

Chances are that the ants in your house actually have their nest outside where they travel back and forth for food and water. So, since they live outside, it makes sense to control them there. Termidor SC can be applied above ground to the exterior foundation walls of your house, creating a treated area of protection for excellent ant control.

Unlike older insecticides, Termidor can't be smelled, tasted, or even felt by ants. So they crawl through the treated area, not knowing that by ingesting treated materials or merely contacting the insecticide, they'll die.

Termidor is unique because ants not directly exposed to the Termidor-treated area will be controlled as they come into contact with affected ants. This Transfer Effect means you'll see its effects on ants in one to three days, and most species will be controlled within the first week following the treatment.

Termidor for Carpenter Ants

Many people ask us if Termidor SC can be used to treat Carpenter Ants. The answer is yes. Termidor SC is one of the most effective products on the market today for treating Carpenter Ants.

*Termidor SC may take up to 90 days to kill termites depending on the colony size.

Termidor SC Target Pests

Termites, Carpenter Ants, Crazy Ants, Argentine Ants and other ant species including crazy rasberry ants (please see the label). Also labeled as an outside perimeter pest control treatment only for the following pests: Asian Beetles, Boxelder Bugs, Pill Bugs, Centipedes, Cockroaches (Australian, Oriental, Smokey Brown), Crickets, Earwigs, Cluster Flies, Millipedes, Silverfish, Spiders, Brown Dog Ticks, Paper Wasps, and Yellow Jackets. Note: Termidor is not a knockdown product for wasps and yellow jackets.

Target Uses of Termidor SC

Termidor SC is the termiticide most widely used by professional pest control companies. It is also terrific for ant control outdoors around the perimeter of structures. Termidor SC can be used for pre-construction and post-construction termite treatments, for prevention and for active infestations. Termidor SC is also labeled for several other crawling pests as an outdoor perimeter treatment.

Termidor SC Application Instructions

Always read the product label completely before use.

1. For Termite Control: To protect your home from future termite infestations, Termidor must be mixed with water and poured in a 6-inch deep trench that is dug around the foundation of the home. Please read below for more information.

2. For Control of Ants and other Target Pests: Termidor is mixed at a rate of .80 fl oz. to one gallon of water in a pump sprayer and sprayed around the outside foundation of the home. For example, you would spray 1 foot up the foundation of your home, and 1 foot out onto the ground.  The treatment will last about 4-6  months, and will then need to be reapplied.

For Termite Control, each 20 oz. bottle will make 24 gallons of solution and treats 60 lineal feet of trenching. For termite pre-treatment use 1 gallon of finished solution per 10 sq. ft.  For ant and general insect control, each 20 oz. bottle will make about 24 gallons of diluted solution and will treat approximately 16,600 sq. ft. (You will need to use approximately 1.5 gal of diluted solution per 1,000 sq. ft.)

Standard Application Dilution Rates / Mixing Rations for Termidor SC:

*For Termite control mix at a rate of 0.80 fl. oz. for each gallon of water used.

* For ant and general insect control around the exterior of a structure the mix rate is 0.80 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

How much Termidor should I buy?
One 20 oz. bottle of Termidor will make 24 gallons of finished solution and will treat approx. 60 lineal feet around your home for a termite treatment.

Use 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 lineal feet around the house.

Example: A home with 200 lineal feet around the foundation would require 4 bottles of Termidor. Most homes require at least 4 bottles.

Termidor SC is for use in the following areas:

Outside surfaces and along foundation of Residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and utility enclosures; wall voids of listed structures; NOT for indoor use; for pre-construction and post-construction treatment for termites, including concrete structures such as patios, porches, sidewalks and foundation slabs; concrete slab (including monolithic, floating and supported concrete slabs) on ground or in basements; hollow block foundations or voids in masonry; structures with French drains and sump pumps; basement structures; crawl spaces; around bath traps and shower drains; posts, poles, and wood landscape ornamentation

*Termidor SC is for Outdoor use only. Indoor spraying is limited to spot treatments for live termite infestations. The product cannot be used indoors for ant or pest control.

Termite Control – See How to Do a Termite Treatment

Termidor is most often used as an in-ground treatment, where it is mixed and then poured in a trench around a house to create a barrier against future termite infestations. However, the product can also be applied to live termite infestations as a liquid spray, liquid dilution or as a foam application. Please see the label for detailed use instructions.

A professional company that would come and treat your house with Termidor would usually have either a 50 gallon or 100 gallon spray rig on the back of their truck, with a hammer drill for drilling holes in your garage concrete slab, if you have one, and slabs around your house like porches and patios. Commercial rental places, such as United Rentals, may have these products.

Most homeowners that apply Termidor themselves use a 5 gallon bucket. It takes longer, because you can only mix 5 gallons at a time, but it gets the job done. You should apply 4 gallons of Termidor every 10 lineal feet around the foundation of your home. Homeowners can estimate 4 gallons by using a 5 gallon bucket and only filling the bucket most of the way full. You will need to dig a small trench against the foundation of the home about 6 inches deep and 6 inches wide, into which you will pour the finished solution and mix it with the soil. It is also important to treat the backfill, which is the dirt that you took out of the trench laying next to it. If you just put this dirt back untreated, the termites could go through this untreated section and not be affected. You should either push the dirt back in right away to mix with the 4 gallons you put in the trench, or take a one gallon sprayer and soak the backfill dirt down before pushing it back in the trench. This will create a termite-proof barrier around your home that will last up to 10 years. Please read the label carefully when applying Termidor as it will give more detailed instructions and precautions.

5 of 5 stars  The Writing on the Wall
By Greg in Omaha, NE on 01/31/2010
    Verified Purchase

As a termite sales representative for a major pest control company I saw the “writing on the wall” several years ago when Termidor first became available. Why would someone pay thousands of dollars for a termite treatment and hundreds of dollars every year to maintain a guarantee when a product so easy to use and so effective was available. Two years ago, after leaving the Company, I discovered that my house was re-infested with termites. I spot treated the area where I found the termites with Termidor purchased from Do My Own Pest Control and I placed some wood monitors in the area a few weeks later; they took no hits. This past Summer I noticed some damage on my siding and as I continued to pull off pieces I found a lot of termite damage, but no termites. Termidor works because the treatment does not have to be perfect. Get some in the area where they are active and they will carry it back to the colony. There is no need to pay for costly drilling inside your home anymore.

5 of 5 stars  Knocked out my ant problem!
    By Charles on 08/29/2008

First, I was impressed with just the bottle. Termidor SC is designed so you can pour exactly the right amount of mix with no trouble. Second, I have had a chronic carpenter ant problem for years. It costs a minimum of $200 for a professional to do 1 treatment, or $350 for a year. For about $70 total and 20 minutes of my time, I knocked out the ant problem. I have enough left over for at least three years. All the ants running up and down and inside my house walls disappeared in a couple of hours. There are dead ants everywhere outdoors, with a couple staggering around in circles.

5 of 5 stars  Termites Eating My Pool Liner.... NO MORE!
By Chip in Pittsburgh, PA on 09/21/2009

I couldn't figure out why my above ground pool was losing water. I hired a professional "leak buster" outfit to help me find the source. It turned out there wasn't one hole in my liner, there were thousands of tiny holes caused by moisture seeking subterranean termites! I tried treating the issue myself with some Home Depot bait stakes. That liner lasted 1 season before the pool started losing water again. I somehow found this site and started to research this Termidor stuff. I bought a jug and a pump sprayer. Since the lining needed replaced (again) I got all set up. When the old lining was removed, I soaked the sand base with my sprayer filled with the Termidor solution. I replaced the liner. Then, I sprayed the outside base of the pool and let the solution roll down the sides through the gravel. Since I had about 12 bait stake holes, I pumped them full of the diluted solution as well. I used the entire bottle on my pool. It's been two full seasons since I treated with Termidor and needless to say, I am thrilled. Not even a hint of termites! If I were to ever install a pool again, I would treat with Termidor as a preventative measure. I had no idea termites hunted for water in swimming pools. I highly recommend this product and this website!

    5 of 5 stars  I am sold!
    By Myron on 09/03/2008

An excellent product. I do maintenance for our church and school and use Termidor SC for ant control. I was spraying or using granules every week. This product has sold me on a true ant control product that you only have to use every once in awhile. This product will save you money because of time and labor involved in normal products.

4 of 5 stars  Be Careful When Measuring & Pouring
    By Richard on 09/01/2010
    Verified Purchase

When you tip the bottle to fill the pre-measured amount is a handy feature yes, but when you go to pour out that amount from it's spout, be sure not to hold the bottle sideways while pouring it and instead leave it upright - My point being if you have it sideways then as you're pouring from that pre-measured chamber more is entering that chamber at the same time, and you may end up dispensing many times more than what was intended. I did that a few times and ended up using 3 times as much as I was suppose to before I realized what was happening. It won't happen again; hopefully this note will tip off others too. Otherwise, great products and great Customer Service. Product 5 stars, Container 4 stars and there should be a note to watch for this issue.

5 of 5 stars  Exterminator and "Ants"
By Justin in New Mexico on 05/30/2010

I discovered an infestation of ants, though didn't know what species. So I figured ant baits purchased at a local store might take care of them -- nope! They weren't interested in the least. After an exterminator arrived, he identified them as "ants" which wasn't too inspiring since I too figured as much. He blew some dust and killed 5 "ants" for $36. His parting words were, "I doubt that I killed the nest, and you'll probably have to call me back." Not wanting to settle for an indefinite series of $36 exterminator "dustings", I spent a few hours researching online and discovered: (1) I had "acrobat" ants, (2) That rigid board insulation (used to construct walls in newer homes) is an attractive nesting site for acrobat ants, and (3) That acrobat ants are notoriously difficult to treat with ant baits. Hmmm...not good. I came across this website and "Termidor SC" and purchased a bottle. Treatment at the foundation of my house was quick and easy, and it took less than 3 days for total extermination of the "ants" (aka 'acrobat ants'). For the amount I had to spray, a $60+ bottle of Termidor will last about 4 years with 2 treatments per year (it has a 5 year shelf-life). That is $15/year, and it will take care of other insects as well! The product is also safe. The active ingredient is Fipronil which is what I used to put on my dogs for flea/tick control (i.e. Frontline) when I lived in Texas. I won't be calling back the exterminator.

    By Mary on 09/23/2008

For Argentine ants, Termidor SC is the only product I've used that offers any real help. I'm sure you already know that when you kill on contact, the queen has fewer workers and lays more eggs. Termidor doesn't kill on contact, but really gives great results! I also find that I don't have to spray as often as with other products. Thanks for a great product!

One of my rental houses has been in the family for over one hundred years, and is infested with termites. Since I am a do-it-your-selfer, and hiring a "Professional Company" is way too expensive for this old house, I am so glad that I found out about your product that I can apply and monitor myself. This way it is affordable. Thank you for offering an effective affordable product like Termidor SC to owners of marginal property.

    By Jon on 04/07/2007

Being a licensed applicator, I can truthfully say that nothing else in the market can compare to the results that you can get from Termidor. I used to work for one of the bigger exterminator companies and about 80% of every problem call was due to ants. In almost every case, it would only take one proper exterior application of Termidor to take care of the ants. The same is true for termites. This stuff is the BEST!

I know Termidor SC, and have used it before with great success against Carpenter ants. I live on the edge of a mountain and occasionally see swarms attacking my house. Termidor, to me, is the most effective way to control this problem. Its much better than Advance Bait!! One or two sprays around the perimeter per summer, depending on the rainfall pattern, is all it takes to get the job done.

QIs there a difference between Termidor and Termidor SC?
Is there a difference between Termidor and Termidor SC? Is the Termidor only for licensed professionals? Is it stronger?

Termidor and Termidor SC are the same product, its just that no one ever says the SC part. SC stands for suspended concentrate. This is the same product the professionals use. The only difference is that licensed professionals can buy this product in larger bottles. Termidor is made in a larger 78 oz bottle, but it can only be sold to homeowners in the 20 oz bottle.

QWhat is the difference between Termidor 80 WG and Termidor SC?

ABoth Termidor 80 WG and Termidor SC when mixed with water, make the same type of solution.  The "WG" in Termidor 80 WG stand for wettable granule.  The "SC" in Termidor SC stands for suspended concentrate.  They are just different formulations of the same product.  The Termidor 80 WG is easier for professional termite control operators to carry in their trucks, and it is easier to mix.  However, Termidor 80 WG cannot be sold to homeowners, it can only be sold to licensed professionals.  Only the Termidor SC in the 20 oz bottle can be sold to homeowners for personal use.

QCan Termidor SC be applied to the surface only with no trench?
If a trench is needed, how deep does it need to be?

ATermidor SC can only be applied to the top of the soil when you are using it as a perimeter pest control treatment against ants.  If you are using Termidor SC to treat for active termites, or to protect your home against termites, you must apply the product into a trench.  This is because termites do not walk across the ground like ants do, they live beneath the soil and enter your home below the grade level of the dirt.  Therefore, you must place the Termidor SC into the ground to have a chance at them coming into contact with the product.  Please read our informational article written for homeowners:  "How To Do a Termite Treatment" which will tell you how deep to dig the trench and how to properly apply Termidor around your home.

QDoes the time of year or temperature of ground change the effectiveness of Termidor? I live in Texas w/ 96+ temp and currently in a drought condition. Should I wait for spring or fall to apply?

When it comes to termites, you should never wait. Especially if you are worried about activity. The dryer the soil the better for Termidor SC. Termidor SC is made to bond to the soil, and the less moisture in the ground, the easier it is for it to take hold and provide long lasting protection. The only temperature that effects Termidor SC is when it is below freezing. Termidor SC should not be applied if the ground is below freezing, or it will not take hold. The 96 degrees will effect you, but not the Termidor SC. Drink LOTS of Water!

QWhy is it that Termidor SC can last 10 years if you use it outside but only six weeks inside?

ATermidor SC is made to bond to the soil and will only last extended periods of time when placed into the ground for termite control.  Also, when you treat in a trench in the ground for termites, you are pouring in 4 gallons per 10 feet.  Termidor SC will only last for 10 years when applied in a trench for termites.  When you use Termidor SC as a spot treatment indoors on wood, it will only last for 6 weeks at the most, because it is not made to bond and last on wood, it is meant for soil treatments.  Although, you can use it indoors for spot treatments in wall voids for termites only, you cannot use Termidor SC as a pest control spray indoors.

I have ants, and I want to use Termidor SC. I was told by a licensed pest control operator that I need to be licensed to purchase/apply the professional pesticide products. Is this true?

ANo, you do not need a license to use Termidor SC. We do carry professional products, but every product on our website can be sold to homeowners as long as you are using it for your own use and property.  You need a license when you are treating other peoples property for profit.

QWhat do I use to treat for termites inside the house and outside the house?
I just found swarmers coming out of my ceiling above the shower. Maybe even soldiers as well. I want to tear into the wall(s) to treat and remove damaged wood as well as the attic, but would like to treat the area(s) prior to disturbing them. What do I use to treat inside the house and outside the house?

AWe would recommend using Termidor which is one of the best termiticides on the market and is the treatment of choice with professional companies.  For the activity you have inside, you would drill a hole or tear out a piece of sheetrock and treat directly into the wall voide with some Termidor in a one gallon sprayer.  For the outside treatment, you would apply Termidor around the perimeter of the structure according to the guidelines in our "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article.

QShould I bore holes every 10-12 inches around my garage for termite control using Termidor SC?
I have a two car garage that is on a concrete slab with a concrete driveway in front of it. I can trench around the outside on 3 sides of the garage. But I am wondering if I need to bore holes every 10-12 inches around the inside walls of the garage next to the foundation or can I bore holes across the driveway in front of the garage?

It sounds like you have a detached garage if you can trench around 3 sides applying Termidor SC.  If this is the case, you do not need to do any drilling inside the garage because the slab should be one solid pour, which means the only way termites could enter is from the outside perimeter.  Also, you do not need to drill across the driveway where the door is either because there is nothing there to protect.  There is no wood, just space where the door is.  The only time you would drill across the front is if you had two single garage doors side by side with a center support.  In that situation you would want to drill just a few holes on the inside near the support, and then outside near the support from the driveway to protect that area.

If your garage is attached to the house, then you would trench around the outside walls just like in the example above, except that you would only be trenching around 2 sides.  The third side would be against the heated space of the house, where the door is to the house.  You would need to drill this wall inside the garage because you would not be able to trench the other side of it.

QWhen is the best time to apply Termidor SC for termite or ant control? What about rain?
If I treat the outside of my house in the morning and its supposed to rain that same evening will that change the effectiveness of the Termidor SC? How long in between rains should I wait before applying?

You should not apply Termidor SC if it is going to rain the same day.  It is best to wait until you have a few days of no rain in the forecast so there is at least 24 - 36 hours time after you treat before it rains.  Termidor SC is made to bond to the soil but it needs time to "set" and bond to hold up against a rain event.

QIs Termidor SC safe if children play or crawl outside where it was sprayed?
I have an 8 month old child that crawls in the grass. Will it be safe for her to crawl on treated soil once the Termidor SC is used?

ATermidor SC is one of our most popular products and is most known for the fact that it is very safe.  Termidor SC, when used for termites or ants, should only be applied right up against the house.  It is not labeled to treat the ground any farther than one foot out from the foundation.  As long as you follow the labels instructions and treat against the foundation of the home, it is perfectly safe for your child to play in your yard and in the grass.

QWill Termidor SC be safe to apply when I have cats nearby?
I have inside cats. Will it be safe to leave them inside while I am treating under and around my house with Termidor SC?

AYes, Termidor SC is one of the safest termite control products on the market.  In fact, the active ingredient in Termidor is Fipronil, which is also the same active ingredient in Frontline flea medicine that people place on their pets.  There is actually more fipronil in Frontline then is in Termidor SC after you mix it with water.  You should have no worries about anyone being inside the house or outside for that matter as long as you are applying the product as directed.
