4 THE BIRDS is a transparent, sticky product that remains tacky after the initial application has set. This product may be applied inside onto beams, girders, struts, supports, and other places where birds can sit and roost or outdoors on trees, bushes and vines. (Do not apply to the exterior of buildings or structures).
How to use:Surface Preparation: Clean surfaces to be treated to promote adhesion of repellent. Wipe or scrape all dust, dirt, droppings, and other loose debris from surfaces. Seal porous surfaces prior to treatment by brushing on one coat, shellac or a 50% solution of white glue, and allow to dry.
FOR INTERIOR USE: Beams, girders, struts, supports, and other places where birds can sit and roost.
Prior to application, cover machinery, floors, and other important items and surfaces to prevent product from falling on them.
Do not dilute 4 The Birds Liquid with water or other solvents. Use as is.
Spray to the point of runoff. Spray in such a way that the top surfaces of beams, girders, etc. are coated. This would necessitate the operator to be level with or above the surfaces during application. Apply with any hand or pressure spray gun which has a discharge pressure of more than 40 and less than 150 p.s.i.
Apply product using a paint brush to surfaces that are difficult to cover by spraying.
FOR EXTERIOR USE: Trees, bushes and vines. (Do not apply to the exterior of buildings or structures)
Prior to application, cover walkways and other surfaces that should be kept clean of repellent which might fall on them.
Apply 4 The Birds Liquid to the point of runoff to the top sides of all branches in the plants to be treated that are large enough to support a bird.
Do not dilute 4 The Birds Liquid with water or other solvents. Use as is.
Applications can only be made with hand or pressure spray guns which can generate sufficient pressure, up to 150 p.s.i., to move the material to the desired treatment site. Keep material agitated. Do not apply this product from aircraft.
It is recommended that treatment to trees, bushes, and shrubs be made in the fall or early spring when limbs are bare and easily accessible. When used as directed, 4 The Birds Liquid will neither harm trees and other vegetation nor cause phytotoxicity to foliage.
Spraying should be done when temperatures are 40 degrees F or above. Drift can be minimized or eliminated by applying during calm conditions.
The amount of coverage you can expect is dependent on type of tree, bush or shrub you are treating, spray equipment, and number of and size of branches treated. Generally, one gallon of 4 The Birds Liquid is sufficient to treat an average tree with a 5" diameter trunk, after foliage has fallen, or approximately six (6) three-foot high shrubs. These coverage approximations should be used only as a guideline.
Product Clean-up: Repellent can be removed from interior surfaces, such as metal beams, wood, laminates and painted surfaces, with mineral spirits. Repellent can be removed from sealed concrete, tile or stone surfaces by hosing with water if this is done within a very short time after the area was coated. Application equipment should be cleaned with mineral spirits after each use.
CAUTION: Do not apply repellent to trees, bushes, and vines that are in bloom or bearing fruit.
NOTE: Do not spray directly on birds. Do not apply at locations where the user has concern that desirable birds may become entangled in the repellent.

Bird Repellent

Verified PurchaseAfter trying other sprays and spiked barriers, this formula took care of our bird problem immediately. We had about 20 huge pigeons nesting and pooping over the front of our home. We would wash down the house because we could not stand to look at the droppings as we drive in. We are now using the formula all around the house to get rid of other nesting birds. We happen to be in a migratory path and do not want the little fellows hurt. Thanks and we will be ordering more. PS-The container is not needed, just brushing on the product works best for us.

By Bird on March 22, 2012We sprayed 4 The Birds on an overhang of an abandoned building, since we can't do any repairs on the house (not owned by us). The starlings have stayed away and have not nested, we are hoping this works, for the price we don't mind spraying every 6 months to keep the awful starlings off our patio and laying their eggs close to our house.

Even better than I hoped!
By Trh on March 25, 2013I have had serious problems for years with birds camping overnight in a tree over our condo. Each morning I had to go and "clean" up the driveway so guests could walk up to our door. I had tried many things including a stuffed owl. Nothing worked. I ran across this product during an Internet search and thought I would try it. Using a squirt gun (yeah, I try anything!) I put the liquid in the location of the tree that was causing the problems. After 3 weeks, I STILL have no birds!! I was concerned that there might be a visible stain, but have noticed no noticeable residue. (Only 4 stars because it IS sticky when loading the squirt gun!)

We have real problems with wood peckers on the side of our house. Do you recommend anything for that? They continue to peck through the wood and pull out the insulation.
ASince woodpeckers are a protected species and you can get fined for hurting or killing them, we do not carry any products labeled specifically for woodpeckers. Most of the time woodpeckers are attacking your home because it is finding food under your siding, or insects. Sometimes applying a liquid insecticide, like our Talstar product in the area where the bird is doing damage, will kill any pests behind the siding and therefore if there is no more food, the bird will go elsewhere. The bird could also be targeting the area for nesting material since you stated it is pulling out insulation. You can try other non-spraying methods by placing reflective tape in the area or a fake owl or other bird of prey to deter the woodpecker.

AThe 4 the birds product, liquid or gel, does not kill the birds. It makes the surface that birds like to land on sticky, or tacky, and birds do not like their feet on something sticky. It merely deters them from landing and "hanging out" on surfaces that you apply it to. The product is made in a liquid that turns tacky once it has time to set and dry, or in a caulk tube in a gel form. Pest control professionals usually have a preference on how they would like to apply it. It is made in both forms based on the preference of the applicator. You can apply it to trees or bushes as long they are not in bloom or fruit bearing.
