    Q
What is the difference between 4 the Birds Gel versus the spray?
How long are these products supposed to last before reapplying. Can the birds get stuck in the gel and die? I can spray evergreen bushes later in the Spring?
    A
The 4 the birds product, liquid or gel, does not kill the birds.  It makes the surface that birds like to land on sticky, or tacky, and birds do not like their feet on something sticky.  It merely deters them from landing and "hanging out" on surfaces that you apply it to.  The product is made in a liquid that turns tacky once it has time to set and dry, or in a caulk tube in a gel form.  Pest control professionals usually have a preference on how they would like to apply it.  It is made in both forms based on the preference of the applicator.  You can apply it to trees or bushes as long they are not in bloom or fruit bearing.

    Q
Do you recommend anything for Woodpecker Control?
We have real problems with wood peckers on the side of our house. Do you recommend anything for that? They continue to peck through the wood and pull out the insulation.
    A
Since woodpeckers are a protected species and you can get fined for hurting or killing them, we do not carry any products labeled specifically for woodpeckers.  Most of the time woodpeckers are attacking your home because it is finding food under your siding, or insects.  Sometimes applying a liquid insecticide, like our Talstar product in the area where the bird is doing damage, will kill any pests behind the siding and therefore if there is no more food, the bird will go elsewhere.  The bird could also be targeting the area for nesting material since you stated it is pulling out insulation.  You can try other non-spraying methods by placing reflective tape in the area or a fake owl or other bird of prey to deter the woodpecker.

    Q
Since 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Liquidis tacky, does that mean that it attracts dirt?
Since the product is tacky, does that mean that it attracts dirt? After the birds are done looking can you wash it off with water, or will it require more elbow grease and some form of cleaner. Is it safe on the paint, or have you had any issues with discoloration?
    A

4 The Birds can attract dirt because it is so sticky. According to the 4 The Birds product label:

Repellent can be removed from interior surfaces, such as metal
beams, wood, laminates and painted surfaces, with "EATON'S"® Bird Repellent
Remover or with mineral spirits. Repellent can be removed from sealed concrete, tile
or stone surfaces by hosing with water if this is done within a very short time after the
area was coated. Application equipment should be cleaned with "EATON'S"® Bird
Repellent Remover or mineral spirits after each use.

We have not had any reports of issues with painted surfaces, but we always recommend you test the product on a small inconspicuous area before treating the entire surface to test for staining or damage.

    Q
Can the 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Liquid be used on stucco and how easily is it removed from the surface?
    A

You could potentially use 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Gel on stucco and other surfaces; however, keep in mind that this should be used on ledges, sills, roofs, and similar areas..

The application surface needs to be completely cleaned of dust, dirt, droppings, and other loose debris before applying the 4 The Birds gel. Porous surfaces should be sealed prior to treatment using shellac or a white glue solution.

You would use mineral spirits to remove old applications of 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Gel.

    Q
How long will 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Liquid last outdoors?
    A

The residual time of the 4 The Birds - Bird Repellent Liquid will vary depending on weather elements, debris particles and the limb surfaces on plants, trees, bushes, etc. For larger birds such as starlings, more than one application may be necessary to create a thick enough layer for the repellent to be most effective. It is recommended that treatments to trees, bushes and vines be made in the fall or early spring when limbs are bare and easily accessible. Repeat treatments can be done as needed or when repellency has dimenished.
