TopChoice Fire Ant Granules provide unsurpassed control of fire ants on lawns and golf courses. Unlike other fire ant granules, Top Choice lasts longer (one full year if applied in Spring) and kills entire fire ant colonies at much lower application rates than traditional fire ant insecticides. In addition, the superior residual of Top Choice Fire Ant Granules provides excellent fire ant control all year long, with fewer re-treatments. Golf courses prefer Top Choice for their fire ant control due to its ability to control ants even through rain and regular irrigation programs. Top Choice also controls mole crickets for up to four months, other nuisance ants for three months, and fleas and ticks for up to one month.
Top Choice Fire Ant Granules should be applied as early in the year as fire ants begin to become active. This is usually in the spring. However, the granules can be applied any time of the year and still yield excellent results.
Top Choice should be applied evenly over the infested area with a rotary spreader that provides even coverage. Please follow the label directions for more specific information.
How much Top Choice do I need?
Approximately 2 lbs of Top Choice Fire Ant Bait per 1,000 square feet of area to be treated is needed to maintain effective control for fire ants as well as other nuisance ants, mole crickets, fleas, and ticks.
How long will Top Choice remain effective?
Fire Ants: up to 1 year - the residual effects of Top Choice are effective for one year. However, if there is an above normal amount of rain or other events it can effect the length of time Top Choice is effective. Also it is very important that you do not apply Top Choice in the late fall or winter when the fire ants are dormant and not foraging for food. You should apply the product in early spring or later when they are active.
Mole Crickets: up to 4 months
Nuisance ants: up to 3 months
Fleas and ticks: up to 1 month

Well worth the price
By Murray on June 30, 2008We live off of a lake and in a heavily infested fire ant area. Since we have bought our new home we have had only two applications of Top Choice Fire Ant Granules over more than a three year period. Unlike many of our neighbors we have never found a mound and have had very few fire ant issues. All of those issues were relatively minor and were all near our property lines. Although rather pricey, considering the fact we have only had this stuff applied twice over three year period, I think this stuff is well worth the extra cost. Figuring it would cost us about $80 to $100 (about 5 bags or 25k sq ft. worth) for something from Home Depot and this would need to be applied at least twice a year. I would be remiss not to mention that I’m looking forward to finally being able to save some money by doing it my self.

Highly recommend
By Bennett on August 28, 2008We bought 2.5 acres of property two years ago and the exterminator stated there were well over 200 fire ant hills at that time on the property. After using Top Choice Fire Ant Granules, no more ant problems! I highly recommend this product and am glad I can save money now and buy it myself. My children can safely play in the yard without the worry of fire ants. Please figure out how much money annually you spend on baits, dust, granular hill treatments, etc., and I imagine Top Choice will be well worth the cost and it will last a year!

The Best for fire ants, mole crickets

Top Choice Fire Ant Control
By R. on September 28, 2011I just had a pest control company (not disclosing co. name) use this product on my yard. They applied it twice in a 6 month period and it's like they are getting stronger. It did not kill them & I have more fire ants now then before they started with Top Choice. I would not recommend this product, waste of money.

ANo, Top Choice Fire Ant Granules are a very safe solution to fire ants. When you apply this product you normally would broadcast it over your lawn in such a small amount there would not be enough of it in one place for your pet to consume. This product is only strong enough to kill a very small ant. Of course like any other product you would want to make sure that you keep the opened bag of granules in a safe place where the pet could not get into the open bag.

We have an over grazed 3.5 acres and horses are not able to be taken off for extenede peroids of time. Is this product safe for grazing animals.
A Top Choice cannot be used in a pasture with grazing animals. Also, Top Choice Fire Ant Granules are restricted use and can only be purchased with a restricted use license. Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait would be a better choice for you. Extinguish plus can be used on pasture land and there are no grazing restrictions for companion animals. Below you will see the grazing info available on the Extinguish Plus product label. Extinguish Plus combines the power of hydramethylnon with an insect growth regulator (IGR) to kill fire ant workers and prevent queens from laying fertile eggs. The result is complete fire ant colony control. Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait is best used in the spring or early fall, or whenever fire ants are active. The ants will feed off Extinuish Plus and spread the bait throughout the entire colony, halting the infestation within weeks. Extinguish Fire Ant Bait can be used indoors and outdoors on lawns, pasture land, rangeland, landscaped areas, and golf courses. EXTINGUISH PLUS may be applied to grass forage

AThe manufacturer does potency studies for 2 years, so they state that it has a shelf life of 2 years. It could last longer though if kept in a dry cool place.

ATop Choice Fire Ant Granules is not labeled for army worms. We recommend using Talstar P for army worm control. Talstar P is not a repellent product, so it will not stop army worms from actually coming into your yard, but it will kill the worms that make their way onto the treated areas.
