I purchased this trap and used peanut butter as an enticement and caught the rat I was after. It worked great and I'm really happy how easy it was to use.

4 of 5 Stars   Rat Trap
    March 15, 2013

I purchased this for a friend as they have used this before with great success. It's easy to use (but be careful not to snap it on your fingers) and immediately breaks the neck of the rodent.

    2 of 5 Stars   T-Rex Rat Trap
    March 27, 2011

I had these traps for two weeks and haven't trapped a rat yet. Changed bait in the traps and put them in different places, nothing. The old conventional trap that has a spring bar has trapped four rats using the same bait. Why doesn't the new ones work, I do not know. Will keep using them and hopefully they will trap a rat. Any help please.

I am very disappointed in the T-Rex rat traps. Since I bought them the traps have frequently been sprung, but none of them has caught a rat.

5 of 5 Stars   Works well

The trap is easy to set and fill with bait. A few times I found it in the closed position with no rodent. But I think it's a vast improvement over the old wooden traps.

1 of 5 Stars   rat trap hat for squirrels
    March 14, 2012

I purchased 4 of these to catch rats that have started to appear in the yard. I set the trap which is easy to use, and was curious how well they wouils work. It took about 4 hours, and SNAP. I go look outside and there is a squirrel rolling around with the trap stuck on his head. Not Good, he was able to get free, and I was trying to decide what to do, when 2 more snapped and this time the traps were stuck on the squirrels heads and the squirrels ran up the tree with traps on their heads. traps gone. Tie them down.

4 of 5 Stars   Trapping the Critters
    December 1, 2012

Here in Florida we have an abundance of "Roof Rats or Palm Rats". They are small, and nocturnal. In the winter they move into my attic. I set out a line of Trapper T-Rex traps and got three the first night and two more the second night. The traps are simple to set and easy to empty. I am very happy with your product, the rats are not.

They work fine for small to medium rats, but the first large rat encountered, destroyed the trap. There does not seem to be enough "meat" around the shaft where the spring is to hold much of a strain. That is the area that broke, rendering the trap useless, and it was thrown in the trash.

5 of 5 Stars   Work great on chipmunks
    February 28, 2013

I had caught a red squirrel in a have a catch and release trap. I took it down to the creek a let it go in the middle of the bridge. Who would have thought it would jump in the creek. Well when my wife told me the chipmunks were eating her strawberries I didn't want to go thru that experience again so I got some of T-Rex Rat Traps. Boy do they work good. You have to tie them down so the critter doesn't run away with it if they don't get killed right away.

5 of 5 Stars   Simple and Effective

One of the simplest mouse/rat traps to bait and set. Just load your bait of choice, pull back, and place.. My bait of choice has been peanut butter. I think the real key with these traps is the placement. Look for evidence of where the mouse/rat is moving around and place the trap as close to the pathways as possible.

This is the same trap the pros use. That is how I found it. I caught one of the little bastards the other day with a Snickers bar. It's a better mouse trap.

1 of 5 Stars   Not very durable but works ok until the plastic breaks
    June 16, 2012

Great design which is effective, but after one or two snaps, the plastic breaks. I thought this type of plastic composite material would be weather proof and virtually indestructable compared to the old fashioned wooden traps. I was wrong and about $30 for the 4 traps and 2 of the smaller T rex traps I found these arent a good long term solution. I still have functioning wooden traps from the 1970s that still work fine. These plastic traps are about as disposable as you can get. Sure they might catch up to 4-5 rats before they break, but I was expecting years and years of use before the spring would wear out or the metal rust.

4 of 5 Stars   Small for Pack Rats
    July 25, 2012

I have had reasonable success in trapping wood (pack) rats, but they are bigger than house (Norway) rats and have had some trouble with them escaping the trap. I have not found any trap that works better, however.

The traps works great. We use peanut butter as the rat seems to be attracted to the smell.

5 of 5 Stars   Klean Kill
    May 12, 2014

After trying a couple of these, I ordered a case. Easy to set, empty, clean, and maintain. Dog food or peanut/almond butter in the bait cup and a drop or two of any cooking oil on the spring, and it can be set anywhere. Clean kills and easy rat removal and is a compact unit. Mount a couple to a 2X4 to set the traps at an angle.

5 of 5 Stars   Red Rats
    July 26, 2011

There are no rats where I live. Rather, from time to time, my outbuildings become infested with red squirrels. They chew everything to pieces and haul in bushels of bedding material (leaves, grass, etc.). They also cache vast amounts of alder or spruce cones. The T-Rex is the best solution. It is easy to use, dependably and mercifully dispatching the little devils. Over the last six days T-Rex has helped me remove seven red squirrels from my buildings. It helps to attach the traps to something solid with a length of light chain or wire. When the jaws snap down on the squirrel there is always a "death spasm" that can propel trap and squirrel some distance.

I have used these to keep the rat population down around my hen house. They work fantastic just make sure you keep them away from the chickens. I recommend you get the black house to put the trap in so no other animals get caught.
