Two questions. I need a good broad-spectrum herbicide to spot spray 15 acres with a 25 ga. sprayer.

My field is mostly tall fescue. Lots of various weeds - tall and short. 'Was looking at Trimec 992, but wasn't sure. Also could not figure out mix ratio, product per 25 ga. water. Have alot to do, so economy is an issue, too. And would a surfactant help what ever product you recommend? Alot of info, I know, but thanks....

Answer:

Trimec 992 would be a good general use broadleaf weed herbicide. You will need to use up to 4.0 pints per acre. When dealing with herbicides the amount of water you use isn't very important as water just acts the carrier. You just need to make sure you are getting the correct amount of product over the recommended amount of space. We would recommend using 1.5 fl oz of Trimec in 1 gallon of water over 1,000 sq ft to help make the application a little easier to figure out. Trimec 992 does not require you to add a surfactant.
