    Doesn't work

    By Mike on 02/11/2012

    Verified Purchase

Arrived quickly in the mail. But the fruit flies just fly right by the traps as if they weren't even there. Opened the cover after awhile only to find no flies whatsoever. This product does not work and will smell up your house.

If the flies you see are flying right by the traps, then you probably don't have fruit flies.  You most likely have drain flies, or phorid flies.  Not fruit flies.  It is important to identify exactly what you are dealing with so you choose the proper treatment method.

    Not pleased with results

    By Frank on 01/14/2015

Our normal pest control man suggested we treat drain flies with this trap as others said they have better results with this than the recommended treatment for them. Did not do well at all. We just ordered and received the InVade Bio Drain and will try that.

    Very Disappointing Results

    By Harvey on 10/25/2016

I purchased 2 traps for an infestation of brown gnats in my kitchen I researched for a long time on how to get rid of them since there were so many. Up until now I was using a simple w liter bottle with dish soap and water. I was catching them but not fast enough. I got the vector 960 and placed them at opposite ends of the kitchen where I saw them most. After about 2 weeks I checked the traps. The gnats landed on the lids along with everything else but did not enter the mixture. I left them out for total 3 weeks. The gnats became even more dense until I found the source. I returned the soapy solution to the kitchen. My soapy solution caught and drown the gnats every day but nothing and I mean nothing in the Vector 960. There were a few more left at the end of the third week. By then my wife had had enough. I used an insect bomb to kill the rest. There were no gnats in the Vector 960. Sorry but unless Indiana gnats are just different and I needed the Indiana version of the Vector 960 I cannot recommend it. P.S. Shipping was fast!!!

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that you did not receive the results you hoped from the Vector traps. It is possible that you may have been dealing with a different type of fly other than fruit flies. Be sure, also, that you have removed the plastic film covering the attractant before placing traps out in the target area. We are glad that you were able to locate the source of your fly problem. Please let us know if you have further questions; we are happy to assist you anytime. We appreciate your comments and your business!

Attracts more fruit flies than we had before

    By Jamie on 03/27/2014

I purchased a case of these traps on behalf of my office. We'd recently bought a few plants to spruce up the office space, and in turn, adopted a few families of fruit flies. From the beginning I was disappointed. I spent about $50.00 to receive vinegar in containers, which I could've crafted myself. We decided to try them anyway. My co-workers and I placed them throughout the numerous rooms in our suite only to find that the fruit flies welcomed the traps. I periodically opened the traps to see if they were even minimally successful- which they weren't. Don't waste your money.

    Vinegar in a fancy case

    By Aaron on 07/22/2014

Yea, the flies come and hang around it but that's it. I opened it up and it had killed maybe 1 fruit fly. Save your money and just use your own vinegar.

    Didn't work for me

    By Phil on 05/31/2011

These things said they controlled drosophila repleta species, which is what I am convinced I have happening in our kitchen. However, these flies are not interested at all in these traps. The flies I have don't seem interested in vinegar, hence why all the touted homemade traps have never worked for my situation. I thought maybe the "bait" in these traps would be different than what I could make myself, but they smell exactly like Apple Cider Vinegar, and did not lure the flies at all!

    fruit flies

    By Dan on 07/09/2015

I put these traps out a couple of weeks ago and so far, I am not thrilled with the results.

    Expert Response  Expert response:
We are sorry to hear that you are not seeing the expected results. The traps will help to capture adult fruit flies but you must find the fruit fly breeding source to eradicate the infestation. Vector 960 Fruit Fly Trap

    By Brenda on 08/12/2019

Vinegar in a jar worked better than this product. My Mom had fruit flies and they were driving her crazy. I ordered 2 of these and took them both to her house and set them up and the fruit flies remained till I put vinegar and dish soap in jar and put on her counter. But there are a few remining.

    These aren't worth the money

    By Bob on 05/05/2023

Messy, hard to open without spilling. And they basically just attract fruit flies to the area and don't catch any.
