Gerhard from Parma, Ohio writes

I want to mix Orthene 97 Pellets to apply as a trench application against black vine weevil on my rhododendrons. How would much Orthene would I have to add to a gallon of water to be effective?

Answer:

Orthene PCO Pellets are not labeled to apply as a systemic drench application for the treatment of black vine weevils. Talstar is labeled for treatment of weevils and many of our customers have cited success with Talstar for weevils.  The product label calls for half an ounce per gallon of water, and this should be applied over 1000 square feet.  There are not really any special instructions other then to cover all foliage completely including the base and trunks of the plants.
