Weed Impede 2 in 1 Non-Selective Herbicide

Weed Impede 2-in-1 Concentrate is a unique non-selective herbicide because it contains both pre-emergent and post-emergent active ingredients. Glyphosate enters plants through foliage and works systemically through the roots to kill target plants, while Prodiamine creates an invisible barrier in soil to prevent development of new plants. Use Weed Impede on established annual and perennial weeds such as bluegrass, chickweed, crabgrass, goosegrass, mustard, spurge, bahiagrass, bermudagrass, clover, thistle, dandelion, and many more. Use as a pre-emergent for annual bluegrass, chickweed, carpetweed, pigweed, and other listed plants. See product label for complete list of controlled species.

Active Ingredient: Glyphosate 40.15%
Prodiamine - 7.51%
Target pests: Broadleaf and Grassy Weeds
For use in: Driveways, sidewalks, patios, edges of lawns, Around well-established trees and shrubs, and gravel areas
Application: Use 3 to 6 oz. per gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. DO NOT use in galvanized steel or unlined steel containers (except stainless steel).
Pet safe: Yes, when used as directed. Pets may reenter treatment area once product has dried.
Yield: 1 quart makes 5 to 10 gallons of finished solution to treat 5,000 to 10,000 sq. ft.
Manufactured By: Monterey Lawn & Garden (UPC: 022179102545)

Not for use in lawns, in vegetable garden preparation, or around fruits and vegetables. Ornamental plants may be planted 4 months after application. April 13, 2011Mary asked:

QWill this kill snow on the mountain (bishops weed)?
I have very invasive bishops weed next to my garage and it is making its way into the lawn. I am looking for a way to kill this terribly invasive weed which is taking over my little yard! Thank you.

A

Bishops weed is very difficult to get rid of.  Weed Impede is not labeled to get rid of Bishops Weed specifically, so we are not sure if it will work or not.  From everything we have read online, it is very difficult to eradicate.

We did find this online: The only way to get rid of Bishops Weed is with a lot of patience and time on your knees weeding it out of your garden. Bishops Weed likes to grow in the top 4 inches of soil, so don't dig too deep when getting it out. You are bound to miss a few rootlets which will start sprouting again. Just dig them out as they show up, and be persistent! Edging can be useful as you weed the garden area, as it will allow you to work smaller areas at a time without worrying about re-infestation from surrounding areas (weeds love that nice fluffy soil) You can try a heavy dose of Round-Up in early fall before the weed goes into its winter dormancy.

QWill Weed Impede 2 in 1 Non-Selective Herbicide kill back Kudzu growth.

AWeed Impede 2 in 1 Non-Selective Herbicide is not labeled to treat Kudzu. You could use a product called Kudzu Killer to eradicate that Kudzu. Please follow the product labels for application.

QKilling Bermuda Grass in St. Augustine Grass?
Will this product kill Bermuda grass in St. Augustine lawns, without killing the St. Augustine?

A

Unfortunately Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the Bermuda as well.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with Round Up and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas. We do carry some professional round up products:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/nonselective-herbicides-c-188_408.html

January 31, 2014Dickm from Arizona asked:

QIs Weed Impede 2 in 1 good for Arizona stone landscaping?
No grass, just stone landscaping in front and back yards. A few Ornamentals and cacti. What is best time to apply. Does this leave a dissipating stain so I can see where I sprayed?

A

Weed Impede 2-in-1 Concentrate would be a great product for you to use, just be careful to not spray any desirable ornamentals or cacti because the product does contain
Glyphosate which can kill anything it touches.  One of our most popular products for weed control in the AZ region is Weed Impede, this is just a pre-emergent.
Application timing varies from region to region. We recommend you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff as he or she will be able to give you the most accurate information in regards to application timing of pre-emergents.
The Weed Impede does not leave any color/stain behind.  We do carry Spray Indicators though.

March 13, 2014Jack from Phoenix Az asked:

QWhat's the proper mixture of the Weed Impede 2 in 1 Non Selective Herbicide?

AYou should mix 3 to 6 fluid ounces of Weed Impede 2 in 1 Non Selective Herbicide to 1 gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. For longer pre-emergent control and post-emergent control of larger weeds use the higher rate.

April 6, 2013John from Chattanooga ,tn asked:

QDoes Weed Impede kill dallis grass and will it hurt my Bermuda and fescue?

AWeed Impede is a non-selective herbicide which means it will kill most plants and grasses that it is sprayed on including Bermuda Grass. Unfortunately there are no products available (that we carry or others carry) that will kill the Dallisgrass without killing the surrounding grass. Best option is once it has emerged is to either spot spray or wipe on something like Round Up Quick Pro, or hand dig up the clumps of dallisgrass down to the root system and re-seed.  Solitaire is known to suppress dallis grass in Bermuda (will not completely control it) and it will control many other weeds as well.
