What is the best pre-emergent and post emergent Crabgrass control in fescue/bluegrass?

What are the best currently recommended products for pre-emergence and post-emergence crabgrass control for northeast fescue/blue grass mix lawns? I have put down Dimesion already at end of March and wonder if a second treatment of Dimension at end of May is best or to use selective post emergent control? I would like to be able to aerate and overseed in the fall.

Answer:

For post emergent crabgrass control, we would recommend using Drive XLR8 Herbicide. It is safe for use in your lawn and is labeled for crabgrass, as well as various other broadleaf weeds. This product should be used with a methlyated seed oil surfactant.  For pre-emergent control, we would recommend using Prodiamine 65 WDG. This is a very good herbicide that is labeled for use in the spring and/or fall for pre-emergent control.  Please check out our Cool Season Lawn Guide for tips on when to do treatments such as for pre and post emergent.
