Sally from Pensacola, Fl writes

What to use to kill Cogongrass? This is very invasive in the S.E.

Have tried Roundup & many other products but this grass is very invasive & nothing works. Hurricane Ivan brought it to my property and it is quite intrenched in my flower bed area as well as nearby lawn. Very hard to pull with a network of large rhizomes. Some have suggested 20% vinegar but no guarantee of success. Need help!

Answer:

Cogongrass is a very aggressive perennial grass. We recommend that you contact your local Master Gardener for tips on eradication if several applications of a professional strength RoundUp does not seem to help. Please click on the link below. Select your state and county for their contact information. Once they have provided a recommendation, please contact us and we will try and obtain the product for you. http://www.ahs.org/gardening-resources/master-gardeners
