June 5, 2010Rene asked:
QIs XL 2G Herbicide safe in my vegetable garden?
I was told that if I put some of the XL 2G Herbicide in my tomato/vegetable garden, it will stop the weeds ...I did, and now I'm upset that I could have hurt my garden... did I? If so...what should I do?
AUnfortunately you were given some bad advice. XL 2G is not labeled for use on fruit bearing or nut bearing trees and gardens. How hurtful to the actual vegetables this may be we are unsure. We would recommend calling the manufacturer for advice on if the vegetables can be saved. The manufacturer is Setre Chemical Company and they can be reached at 901-761-0050.
January 21, 2012Randy from Cameron, Texas asked:
QWhen is the best time to apply the herbicide XL 2G? Also, should you water it in?
AEach area of the country has their own optimum times to apply Pre-Emergents like XL 2G granules. We recommend calling your local county extension office as they usually know the optimum times for applying pre-emergent to your lawn in your area. All granules depend on water to release the active ingredient they are carrying, so you should always water in granules thoroughly, including XL 2G.
