DESCRIPTION: The Advanced Termite Bait System is the next generation in termite baiting. The station design features vertical slots that allow for maximum wood-to-soil contact, creating the perfect opportunity for termite attack. Each station contains a Termite Monitoring Base with preferred wood that is appetizing to termites. Above this rests a second cellular source, the Termite Inspection Cartridge containing Puri-Cell matrix in a clear cartridge that makes inspection easy. A Quick-Lock cap eliminates keys and hinges.
This case of TBS Stations contains:
- 10 Termite Monitoring Stations that each contain a wood base and a termite inspection cartridge. These 10 stations are to be placed ten to fifteen feet apart around your home.
USE: Install around the perimeter of homes and commercial buildings. Stations are placed in the ground (usually with a post hole digger or shovel) every ten to fifteen feet around the structure. The stations will attract termites before they ever reach the structure, then allowing you to bait and eventually kill the termites. Monitor the stations on a quarterly basis. If termite activity is present, replace the Inspection Cartridge with the Termite Bait Cartridge.

Monitor For Termites Rather Than Going Nuclear
By Alan in Shawnee, Kansas on 06/13/2017
Purchased to replace 10 year old bait stations left by previous owners. If you aren't plagued by an active infestation, you should monitor these bait stations rather than digging up the yard and drilling through concrete. Easy to deploy with a spade. Purchase the spider tool to easily open the covers for inspection. If signs of infestation are shown, replace the bait cartridge with a termiticide cartridge. I can speculate that an exterminator would charge $300 for installation and $100 every 90 days for inspection. Do It Yourself and keep the $$.

A Great Move for me!
By Bryan in Sharpsburg, GA on 06/17/2017
I have been paying a company $99 every three months for the past 10 years. Now I got smarter and decided to buy my own 10 stations. I also purchased a post hole digger for less than $25. Took me only a few minutes to install each station. Now I'll be saving almost $400 a year. A great investment!

QWhy are Advance Termite Bait Stations restricted in NY?
ANew York is one of the nation's most restrictive state when it comes to allowing homeowners to treat their own pest and termite issues. The state government heavily regulates professional-grade products. Advance Termite Bait Stations are ok in most other states.
QWhat's to keep the termites from getting to the house in between the bait station?
AWhen termites are foraging for food they will look for the easiest to get to food first. This would be any wood in the ground, and the stations do a great job of allowing the termites to find them. However, it is always possible that termites can go in between two stations. No termite treatment is 100% guaranteed to prevent termites from your home because there are so many ways that termites can get into your home. To maximize your protection, you should either move the stations no more than 10 feet apart, or the best option is to put a liquid barrier treatment around your home and have the termite bait stations supplement your protection. We have an article that you can read on "How To Do A Termite Treatment".

QHow often or when does the Advance Monitoring base need to be replaced?
And also how long for the monitoring base?
AThe monitoring base and the monitoring cartridge in the Advance Termite Baiting System will only work if they are not moldy and water logged. Installing the stations properly with room beneath them for water to drain will ensure you get the longest life out of the wood and monitoring cartridge as possible. For the most part though, you should replace all of the wood bases and monitoring cartridges at least once a year. Depending on the weather and amount of rain, you may have to replace them more than once if they need it. Termites like moisture, but they do not like to swim, and they will not go into the station if the wood base is too moldy and decomposed.

QRegarding the Advance Termite Bait System
If I bought it now, should I install it in the Fall, or wait until Spring? If I install them in the fall, they will have time to "settle in" to the surrounding, but they will be exposed to elements longer, get wet, wood breakdown, require cleanout sooner, etc. What do you think?
AThe best time to treat for termties is after the winter in the spring. That is because it is easiest to install the Advance Termite Bait Stations or apply a termiticide when the ground is softer than when the ground is frozen. Also, peak activity usually starts right as the winter is ending and into the spring. It really depends on your location. Also depending on the amount precipitation can cause the wood base to get soggy or moldy quicker and need replacing.
