Archer IGR

Archer IGR is an Insect Growth Regulator that is also photostable, meaning that it does not break down easily in direct sunlight. You can use Archer IGR to control insect populations both indoors and outdoors. The Archer IGR unique mode of action disrupts the life cycle of ants, fleas, flies, ticks, cockroaches, mosquitoes and beetles leading to effective population control.

For best results, IGR products should be applied with an insecticide such as Talstar.

* They can be mixed together and applied at the same time from a one gallon hand pump sprayer.

Archer Insecticide is an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator). The Archer Insecticide unique mode of action disrupts the life cycle of ants, fleas, flies, ticks, cockroaches, mosquitoes and beetles for effective population control.

  1. Low hazard, only carries a “caution” warning from the EPA.
  2. Non-volatile and remains stable in sunlight.
  3. Effective when used in combination with other baits, and readily tank mixes with adulticides like Demand CS and Demon MAX, for a fast-acting, superior pest control program.
  4. Does not cause stain or odor when used as directed.
  5. Retains activity against pre-adult fleas for up to 7 months, and against pre-adult cockroaches for up to 6 months.

What is an IGR?

  1. Archer Insecticide is an IGR, or Insect Growth Regulator.
  2. An IGR is a chemical that disrupts and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development.
  3. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce.
  4. In short, IGR is a form of “birth control” for pests which helps keep the populations of unwanted pests under control by preventing current and future infestations.

How to Mix Archer Insecticide

Archer Insect Growth Regulator is intended to be mixed with water and applied with application equipment, such as hand-held, backpack, or power spray equipment.

  1. Fill applicator container 1/2 full with water.
  2. Add the amount of Archer Insect Growth Regulator to container as recommended in the rate table found on the product label.
  3. Shake, stir, or agitate.
  4. Fill applicator tank with water to final volume recommended in rate table.
  5. Shake, stir, or agitate again.
  6. To assure the highest quality control, prepared dilutions should be used within 24 hours and should be shaken, stirred, or agitated again if diluted material is not used for several hours.

General

Prior to any interior treatment, carpets, draperies and upholstered furniture should be vacuumed. The vacuum cleaner bag should be sealed and disposed of in an outdoor trash receptacle.

In Kennels and Doghouses

Treatment of kennels and doghouses will control pre-adult fleas from developing into biting and reproductive adult fleas.

  1. Prior to treatment, remove animals, pets and their food and water dishes before applying.
  2. Do not return animals and pets to treated areas until the application has completely dried.
  3. Using a tank-type applicator, apply Archer at a rate of 1 gallon diluted solution per 1,500 square feet of surface area.
  4. Apply to buildings, resting areas, walls, floors, animal bedding and run areas.
  5. Archer should not be used as an on-animal application. Pets should be treated for fleas by a veterinarian or groomer before the home is treated with Archer.

Fleas have no chance with Archer. I mixed it with Conquer and sprayed as label told me to. Fleas and ants are no more. THANK YOU DoMyOwnPestControl, you saved me a bunch of money and kept my grand baby safe and stoped my pets from the itch.

I used an Archer/Conquer mixture on my yard and in my house for a flea problem that was out of control. Within no time the little boogers were gone! I've tried everything and this was the ONLY product that worked. My name is Jennifer and I've been flea free for 2 weeks!

By Keith in Bluftton, IN on 12/25/2010

I am a landlord and I had a house with fleas so bad that when you entered the house fifteen minutes later my legs were covered with hundreds of fleas. I tried store bought foggers and sprays - don't waste your money. I purchased Archer IGR and Conquer and used one ounce of each in a gallon sprayer, sprayed once a week for two weeks and the problem was solved. GREAT STUFF!!

5 of 5 stars  The BEST for Fleas....EVER
By Kim in Bradenton, FL on 09/08/2010

This is one time where I feel compelled to review for the benefit of everyone who is experiencing flea infestations. My poor indoor dog was constantly scratching and biting herself raw. She suffers various symptoms when topicals are applied and I am loath to expose her to those chemicals. I live in SW Florida and the fleas were horrendous this spring. I spent a fortune and nothing worked. I found this website and discovered Archer Growth Regular and Conquer (instant knock down). Used these two in combination for everywhere inside and out. Additionally, treated the yard with Bifen (granular long term). WOW...within just a few days all fleas GONE. That was May 1st. I treated with everything again 3 months later. I have seen 2 fleas since May 1st. BRAVO, Archer, Conquer & Bifen!!!! BTW, all other bugs are dead too. I fired the pest control people and do it myself for a fraction of the cost now with ten times the results.

We are using this product for the control of: DESERT COCKROACHES, SCORPIONS, CRICKETS, and EARWIGS. Very low odor that dissipates within five to ten minutes. Leaves no visible residue when mixed and applied as recommended. We are using this product with ONSLAUGHT insecticide, and since starting this regimen every three months, our results have been fantastic. Our cricket problem is actually not a problem any longer!

By Altimease in Albany, Ga on 04/26/2017

Not sure if it was the Archer IGR or the combination of that and the Conquer mix but one treatment in my house and it was flealess. My storage room, of course, where the dog lived still showed signs after 2 weeks so I'm going to treat that area again and I have faith that'll clear them out. After trying all kinds of expensive sprays out the store I'm glad I found this sight.

By Rick in West Frankfort on 08/12/2016

Used it for the first time on a flea job with Conquer. Got call backs. Not as good as advertised.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
We apologize you did not receive the expected result from using the product. Please note that flea treatments require thorough vacuuming prior to treatment and every day for the next 14 days after the application. Reapplications must be done every 14 days for 2-3 applications depending on heavy the flea infestation was prior to treating. Reapplications are necessary due to the life cycle of the flea and how they are protected from the treatment in the larval and egg stages. Vacuuming helps them to hatch or become active which is why it is recommended that you vacuum and then apply the spray.

Archer IGR is the secret to breaking the cycle of fleas. It stops the eggs are larvae from being able to hatch out. The pupa will still hatch out for about a week, but after that, no new fleas. . . . for months at a time.

By Adam in Elgin, Oklahoma on 06/08/2016

Used this product along with Conquer to knock down a severe infestation caused by the farmer spraying his cattle field and pushing the pests into my property coupled with the perfect breeding conditions this year for fleas. It started when we noticed one and then within a couple days it turned into thousands... So here we are two weeks later and zero fleas. I'm keeping this on hand to prevent any further issues we may encounter in the future however, I don't foresee any. Buy with confidence. DYOP were a godsend.

QOnce the product dries, is there any toxic effect to people?
I read the MSDS sheet, and I could not find any information on once the product dries or if it continues to have the same warnings as in liquid form. Also, nothing about reactivity of the product if it becomes wet. Thank you.

ANo. As with most insecticide products, the danger is when the product is liquid. People (except for the applicator) and pets should be out of the area while the product is applied, and they can safely re-enter the area after the product has dried. Archer will not re-constitute once it has dried.

QCan I use Archer IGR with a hose end sprayer? How much would I need for 1/4 acre?
I run a doggy day care with about 1/4 acre of yard. I want to apply the product quicker than with a gallon sprayer.

AYou can use Archer IGR in a hose end sprayer. You will need to apply 1 ounce of Archer IGR per 1,500 sq ft. You can mark of a 1,500 sq ft area, add the appropriate amount of ArcherIGR to the hose end sprayer and then spray until the container is empty. The exact amount of water you use isn't very important, you just need to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,500 sq ft. In areas with thicker, denser vegetation you will need to use a bit more water to help the product get to the soil where these pests harbor. One bottle of Archer IGR should be enough for at least 2 treatments on a 1/4 acre property.

QCan you use Archer IGR, Permethrin SFR, and Deltamethrin together?
Have a bad problem with fleas in yard.

AYou can use Archer IGR + Permethrin and you can use Archer IGR + Deltamethrin but you should not mix all 3 chemicals together because Permethrin and Deltamethrin are from the same class of chemicals and it would be like essentially just doubling the dose of either product. Instead you should mix Permethrin or Deltamethrin + Archer IGR + a pyrethrin such as Exciter. The pyrethrin would give you the really fast knockdown, the deltamethrin/permethrin would give you the long lasting residual and the Archer IGR would help break the breeding cycle.

QWill my dog get sick if she chews on mulch that has been sprayed with Archer IGR and Conquer?
My concern is that one dog likes to occasionally chew on the wood mulch (and acorns that fall into that area). Is this a health concern for the dog?

AIn most circumstances the dog would have to ingest a lot of the treated mulch and acorns for there to be a health risk. Once these products are diluted and sprayed there is only a very minute amount of the active ingredients applied, only enough to have an effect on an insect.

QHow much Archer IGR would I need to treat one acre of land?

AThe usage rate will depend on the insect you are trying to treat, but you will either need 1 or 2 ounces of product per 1,000 sq ft. Since there are 43,560 sq ft per acre, you will need 3-6 bottles of Archer IGR if you actually want to treat the entire acre. Most pests require that you only treat targeted areas, for example if you were treating for fleas you would only need to treat moist, shady areas and areas where animals spend a lot of time.

QCan I mix Archer IGR and Permethrin SFR?
Can I mix with archer IGR and permethrin SFR to kill the roach and stop them growing? How to mix? How much of each mix with water together? How often?

A

Yes, Archer IGR and Permethrin SFR can be mixed together and applied at the same time. The mixing rate is 1 2/3 fl oz of Permethrin SFR and 1 fl oz of Archer IGR per gallon of water. This can be done every 21 days as needed. Be sure to use a bait gel, such as Maxforce Magnum as well inside of cabinets and drawers. Be careful not to spray the bait with insecticides because it will contaminate it and the roaches will not consume it.

QDoes it make sense to mix Archer IGR, Conquer, and Gentrol IGR together for indoor/outdoor use?
I've used conquer and archer together, mostly targeting fleas, but would like to add a roach IGR. Does it make sense to mix these three together for indoor/outdoor use?

A

No, there is no need to use Gentrol IGR as well as Archer IGR. Archer IGR is labeled for roaches as well.

QCan Archer IGR be used indoors on hardwood floors?

QIs Archer IGR or Nyguard IGR effective against oriental cockroaches and which would be better for outdoor use?
I see on the label it only lists asian, german, and brown-banded roaches. Also looking at Nyguard and that says the same.

A

Both the Archer IGR and Nyguard IGR†are labeled to treat for both asian and oriental †roaches (which are the same type of roach). If you are using this for an outdoor application you would want to choose the Archer since it is more photostable in an outdoor application.

QCan I mix Archer IGR and Conquer for flea control in my yard? How often do I need to reapply this mixture?

A

QHow often can I use Archer IGR in conjunction with Talstar?
I see the treatment can last 7 months but I sprayed both together a couple of months ago and I continue to see mosquitos, as well as ants around my perimeter. I'm primarily using Talstar for both and the Archer to supplement mosquito growth.

A

Archer IGR is only photostable outside for about 2 weeks, inside is where†it would last the 7 months. †It along with Talstar should be applied once a month through mosquito season to keep the residual up. †You may continue to see mosquitoes even after application as Talstar P is not a true repellent. †It is meant to provide a long residual that will continue to kill insects that contact a treated surface. †Be sure to apply to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes and treat any standing water with a larvacide to further help with elimination.

QWill Archer IGR take care of fleas and roaches?
I want to prevent fleas (my cat recently got tapeworms from eating one) and I have seen a few dead cockroaches in my new house. Will this product alone take care of both? Neither are a major problem.

A

Archer IGR will only stop these pests from growing to become reproductive adults in their immature stage. You can use Onslaught Insecticide to treat for both and it can be used on carpeted areas where you may need flea control. Be sure to follow the label for indoor and outdoor control. You can even mix Onslaught and Archer so you can have a residual insecticide and IGR control at the same time.

QDoes Archer IGR work for spiders?

A
