Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide is the best insecticide for mites and leaf miners. The label for Avid now includes the suppression of whiteflies, aphids, and thrips. Growers, nursery and landscape professionals depend on Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide for their ornamentals because it provides unmatched protection against leaf miners and mites. Use in your resistance management program rotation because its one-of-a-kind chemistry and mode of action.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Avid 0.15EC is an emulsifiable concentrate containing 0.15 lb. abamectin/gal. which, when mixed with water, will control leafminers and mites and suppress whiteflies, thrips, and aphids on ornamentals.

Mix with water and apply as a foliar spray to obtain uniform coverage. For mites, apply when mites first appear and repeat as necessary to maintain control. For leafminers, apply as needed and repeat at 7-day intervals or as necessary to maintain control.

For suppression of aphids, thrips, and whiteflies, apply when young, immature stages of these pests are first observed and repeat every 7 days for 2 or 3 weeks. After which time, rotate to other products that have different modes of action than Avid 0.15 EC for at least 2-3 weeks. Refer to the Resistance Management section for additional comments on rotation. Aphids, thrips, and whiteflies are killed by direct contact with the Avid 0.15 EC spray.

Residual control of pests may be enhanced with the addition of a horticultural spray oil at 0.5 to 1.0% of the spray volume on field-grown woody ornamentals, landscape plants, and Christmas trees. Repeat application as necessary, but no sooner than 7 days to maintain control. Some plants are sensitive to oils and so without prior experience the user should spray a small number of plants and observe plants for 2 weeks before spraying the remaining plants. Excessive cold or warm temperatures may increase the chance of plant damage following application with oils.

Avid 0.15 Miticide / Insecticide Features:

  • Rainfast within hours of application, offering outdoor application flexibility
  • Odorless
  • Leaves no unsightly residue on plants
  • Formulated for easly application with standard equipment

I have been fighting spider mites for six months, not able to win - just stay even. Finally I went nuclear (Avid) on the little bastids, and they're all in spider heaven now. This stuff seems expensive - but it is SO concentrated that this $100 bottle will last a looooong time. I use 3 drops in 500cc of water in a spray bottle. Used once.

5 of 5 stars  Bye bye mites
By Craig in Vancouver, Wa on 09/09/2015

On a suggestion from a friend, I was told that my issue with Russett mites would be quelled with one application of the avid miticide. Once I bit the bullet on the cost, (@$15/oz.) I realized that within hours I had stopped 80% of my infestation. A second application @ 2 weeks later yielded near 100% extermination of those microscopic bastards and I've been good since... *A full tyvek suit, respirator and eye protection is essential to do a proper application!!

I believe you can avoid pests with preventive measures, but sometimes they just appear. In my case I introduced some plants from another garden. I had what I believed to be broad mites. I used avid every 3rd day for 4 applications and they were gone.

The ONLY secret we will EVER give away because the creators of this product deserve HELLA KUDOS and we are in LOVE with DoMyOwnPestControl.com We use this in combination with TalstarP. Talk about TERMINATE ON SIGHT! Turn your Garden into a Pest GRAVEYARD with this stuff. Enough said! (P.S. You should follow dosage instructions or you'll kill more than your bugs in the process. DO NOT USE DURING FLOWERING. DO NOT USE ON CLONES.)

5 of 5 stars  Great product
By Lee in WV on 08/12/2017

Had spider mites on my roses and dahlias. Used all of the normal products you could buy at Lowe's. Nothing worked! Decided to use a professional product Avid. Killed all the mites without harming my plants with two applications. Used 5 ML's of product to 4 gallons of water. Also used a non-ionic surfactant at 37.5 ML's per 4 gallons. The only downside to this product is you need a full set of protective clothing including headgear and gloves. The product is also toxic two ferns so I had to cover them with a black plastic bag when I was spraying near them. No big problem just a little additional hassle. Highly recommend this product.

QDoes Avid work for in home bird mite infestation?

A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide†is only for plant infesting mites and cannot be used inside a home for "mites" in general.

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your†local cooperative extension office? or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites. †If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray†Sterifab? on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use†Cimexa Dust? in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. Cimexa dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust.†Onslaught†can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

QWhen you use Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide for bed bugs, do you dilute it?

A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide is a product that does have to be diluted with water, but it is not labeled to treat bedbugs and cannot be used indoors in a home. When treating for bed bugs, we recommend using one of our bed bug kits. We also recommend reviewing our article on treating for Bed bugs.

QWhy is Avid "not recomended" to use as a drench?
Will it not work? Not comfortable spraying my indoor palms indoors or even in garage during the winter when mites are more of a issue.

A

Avid is not a true systemic insecticide that is absorbed through the plants, and the product label does not have any application directions for drenching. Many of the target insects, such as spider mites, cannot be treated with a drench, rather they must be treated topically. Avid does have some translaminar movement, which means the active ingredient can move through the leaf surface, but it does not move through the rest of the plant.

QIf I left Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide where it may have frozen over the winter, is it still okay to use?

A

If Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide goes back into suspension, it is fine to use. If the product does not go back into a solution and has particles floating around after the bottle has been agitated, we would not recommend using it.
