    Q
Does Bac-A-Zap come in a fogger?
We moved into a home and discovered a big mouse/rat infestation in the attic and in the basement ceiling tiles. The tiles smell of urine and some of the ceiling is drywall. I'm looking for a product to fog those areas we can not reach to clean. Also can I use your product on the ceiling tiles?
    A

Bac-A-Zap may be fogged into confined spaces, such as crawl spaces or attics using a fogging device. Dilute product two (2) parts water to one (1) part Bac-A-ZAP (2:1) and apply as a fog at a rate of one (1) gallon of mixed solution per 1000 cubic feet of confined space. NOTE: Do not fog Bac-AZAP into areas where people or pets are present. Wait until fog has dissipated before re-entry. Bac-AZAP can be used on walls, floors, carpets, wall voids, crawl spaces, basements, floor drains, refuse containers, dumpsters, garbage cans, bathrooms, and compost piles.

    Q
Will this product also take dog urine stains out of carpet along with the odor?
I had a very lazy tenant. I evicted her for reasons other than this, but now have a problem with what was a wonderful carpet!!! She was only there for 5 months and the entire apartment reflects how lazy she was! Oh my! My main concern is the carpet though. I would like to save it. I have used Bac-a-Zap for cat urine odors, but for stains, no.
    A
According to the manufacturer, Bac-A-Zap will not remove the actual urine stain, it will just help eliminate the smell of the urine.

    Q
Is Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator safe to put on houseplants to kill fungus gnats?
    A
Fungus gnats will commonly breed in the soil of house plants that may have too much moisture.  Bac-A-Zap is labled for drain flys, phorid flys and fruit flys but it does not actually kill them, instead it has an enzyme that helps break down the organic matter that these flys breed in. This type of treatment will not work on fungus gnats. You should read our "Getting Rid of Gnats" article that explains how to treat fungus gnats. We recommend using Talstar P which can be sprayed directly on the soil to help control fungus gnats and we also recommend letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

  • Asked by Margie from Dallas, Texas

    Q
Can I spray Bac A Zap directly on my dogs or their sleeping area?
My dogs have the common dog smell even a few days after bathing them. I want to minimize the dog smell in my house.
    A

You cannot use Bac a Zap on your pets for any reason. However Bac A Zap can be used on pet resting areas and other areas of the home that tend to hold any pet odors. Please keep in mind, without getting rid of your dogs you will not be able to eliminate the normal smell that comes with having a pet.

    Per the Product Label

WALLS, FLOORS & CARPETS: Begin by thoroughly cleaning areas with appropriate materials and methods. Spray BAC-AZAP on all surfaces where odors might originate including wall surfaces, floors and carpets. Apply at the rate of one (1) quart per one hundred (100) square feet of surface area (approximately three (3) fluid ounces per square yard). NOTE: Although BAC-AZAP is designed to be non-staining, always test surface for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area before treating entire surface.

    Q
Can Bac A Zap be used to remove the smell of a dead human?
A person passed away in his apartment at our facility, and we need a product to get that smell out of the space.
    A

Per the manufacturer, Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator is not specifically labeled for use on human bodies. However, it can be used to remove the smell of a decomposing carcass. It would be recommended to use a disinfectant/deodorizer such as Nisus DSV prior to using Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator because it will improve the effectiveness of the product.

    Q
Can Bac-A-Zap be used in a carpet cleaning machine?
I am looking for an odor eliminator that can be used in a carpet cleaning machine. I know this product does not remove stains, but I am only looking to remove the odor of dog urine in my carpets.
    A

We would not recommend using Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator in a carpet cleaning machine. You can purchase the product ready-to-use in the quart bottle and spray as needed on carpet surfaces directly from the bottle at a rate of 1 quart per 100 square feet for severe odors. We do have a concentrate called Odaway Odor Eliminator Concentrate that can be diluted in a sprayer bottle at a rate of 1:5 with water or added to cleaning or laundry, so that product may work better for you, depending on the type of machine that you have. We do recommend checking with the manufacturer of the machine for what type of products work best in it.

  • Asked by Cindy from California
    01/08/2017
    Q
How long do I need to wait to return animals to a room after Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator has been applied with a fogger?
In spite of daily cleaning, odors accumulate in a room of foster cats. What precautions are needed after fogging before returning cats to the room? Does the floor or anything else have to be rinsed? How much time must elapse before cats can be returned to the room after fogging? The fogger is a Commander Tri-Jet.
    A

Per the Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator label instructions, you will need to wait until the fog has dissipated completely before re-entry. We would also recommend that you clean the floors and wipe down other surfaces before returning the cats to the room.

  • Asked by Matt from Philadelphia, Pa

    Q
Will Bac-A-Zap break down bat guano?
If so, what application method is most effective? Also will it prevent fungus or can a sporacidal agent be added to the solution?
    A

We cannot confirm that Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator would break down bat guano.  Since bat guano carries a lot of disease and risk in clean up we would recommend hiring a professional for this task.  Bac-A-Zap is a ready to use product that is generally applied by itself so it would not be advised to mix anything with it.

    Q
Can Bac-A-Zap be sprayed in kitchen cabinets?
I bought my house a half year ago and now the kitchen cabinets have a musty odor in them that cant be removed by all of the other practices i've seen online. Can this be used within the cabinets?
    A
The fact that there is a musty smell tells us that there might be a moisture issue. However, you can spray Bac a Zap in the cabinets after taking everything out. Let the product dry and then place the kitchen products back in.

  • Asked by Ily from Sarasota, Fl
    04/28/2019
    Q
Can Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator be used for getting rid of pet urine in tile/grout?
I have tried everything to rid my home of pet urine (dogs) smell within our tile grout. Once we open doors or windows or turn off a\c and humidity gets in the smell returns. Is this the best product to apply on grout? If not which would be? If so, is it applied as a drench, spot spray, etc? Also, I am sensitive to smells, does it have a smell any product with minimal smell would be best. Thank you
    A

Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator is labeled for absorbing odors including urine, it does have a mild odor. The product is also available in a concentrate bottle which can be diluted for larger spaces. We would recommend cleaning the tile and grout first and then apply.  It might take a few applications.  The other issue is if the urine soaked through past the grout and got to areas under it, it could still come back, which would only be confirmed if the grout/tile is removed.
