  • Asked by Greg from Traverse City, Mi
    08/27/2018
    Q
How much Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape do I use for a multi-trunk heritage birch tree?
    A

Per the product label, "You will use 1/2 oz of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape per inch of the distance around the trunk. You will measure the distance in inches around tree trunk at chest height. A flexible tape measure is the recommended tool. Multiply the number of inches by 0.5. This is the number of ounces of this product to apply. Fill a bucket or watering can with 1 gallon of water. For trees with trunks greater than 50", use 2 gallons of water. Slowly pour the solution evenly around the tree/shrub. For best results, pour as close to the TRUNK/main stem of the tree/shrub as possible." For a multi-trunk tree, you would add together the circumference of each trunk at breast height to get the total measurement for that tree.

  • Asked by Mike from Camden, Ny
    12/22/2015
    Q
Will Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Control Formula have a harmful effect on honey bees while pollinating?
    A

The Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Control Formula does contain an insecticide that could be toxic to honey bees if they contact the insecticide spray directly. To avoid potential harm to pollinators, we recommend to avoid spraying blooms directly or applying insecticides during the heat of the day when pollinators are active in the area.

Recent studies show that the top cause of Colony Colapse Disorder (CCD) in honey bees is caused by the invasive varroa mite. You can read more information from the EPA on this topic here.
