  • Asked by Cheryl from San Clement, Ca
    10/16/2017
    Q
What is the best time to apply Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control in Southern California?
The label just mentions not while in flower. Also it deosn't mention of ANY waiting period for harvest AFTER application on citrus.
    A

Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control will move through treated plants in one week to 3 months (for very large trees), so treatment is typically done in the spring before summer pests are found in the area. If you are treating very large trees in an area with a long growing season, then you could potentially treat in the fall so that the product will be absorbed throught the entire plant by spring. Per the product label, since there is no specific pre-harvest interval for citrus, it can be applied anytime on listed citrus trees, with a maximum application of once per year.

  • Asked by Will from Las Vegas
    12/30/2017
    Q
Will Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control kill beneficial earthworms?
    A

If earthworms come into contact with the area treated with Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control, they will be affected the same way other insects will be affected. Typically earthworms tend to stay several inches below the surface and remain hidden away from insecticide applications, but if they do end up surfacing in treated areas they will be eliminated. For the most part, insecticides are not selective.

  • Asked by Chris from New Orleans La

    Q
I have Dominion 2L and I see it has the same ingredient, which is Imidacloprid.
I was wondering if I could use dominion 2L on my citrus trees, which is satuma trees. Thank you
    A
Dominion 2L is not labeled for use on edible plants and any food plants treated with the product should be discarded. There are other products that share the same active ingredient that are formulated for use on edibles such as Imidapro 4SC or Monterey Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic.

  • Asked by Neil from Belleview, Fl
    05/22/2017
    Q
Do I need to apply any supplemental treatments of other insecticides after using Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control?
Was wondering if this is an all in one system for citrus trees? Will I need to apply say...neem oil and spinosad like normal or does this product take the place of all of those?
    A

Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control is a systemic product that can only be done once a year. If there is an issue that this product did not take care of, neem oil or spinosad is a good option for supplemental treating. This will only be used if there is a need for it.

  • Asked by Sara from Redding, Ca
    05/05/2019
    Q
I applied Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control while my strawberries were in bloom and had fruit on them. When can I harvest and consume the strawberries?
I know it says harvest after 14 days but I'm unsure now because it says do not apply while plant is flowering.
    A

The instructions on the product label for Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control that say not to while plants are in bloom are meant to protect bees, since bees may be foraging while plants are blooming and could be harmed by the insecticide.  As long as you wait the recommended 14 days after the product was applied to harvest the fruit, it will be fine to consume the strawberries.

  • Asked by Jeanette from Spring Hill, Fl
    04/04/2018
    Q
Can I use Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control on my dying blood orange tree?
I have a dying blood orange tree, I have done everything I can think of to help it. But it seems to just be drying out one branch at a time. This is not the first one we have lost this way. I got Desperate and thought it might be bugs so I purchased some Bayer systemic bug killer. I doubt I will get any fruit, only 1 orange survived last year. If I do, is it unsafe to eat? Any other suggestions on what I can do? I didn't realize there was a fruit Bayer does it also kill bugs? Thank you
    A

Bayer Advanced Fruit, Citrus and Vegetable Insect Control is listed for some orange varieties. It does not specificially label blood oranges. We recommend that you consult with your local cooperative extension Master Gardener or local arborist for assistance on a dying tree. They can help determine if insects and/or diseases are causing it to die. If they recommend a product, please let us know and we can help you locate a product. We are happy to help!
